I cam across some bad luck while passing through Stephenville that landed me at the Rodeway Inn,  I encountered the "desk clerk" who was more then likely the owner as he was repairing things as he tended the front desk.  I asked if I could sit in the lobby and charge my phone while I waited for my wife and we decided what we were going to do.  He told me very rudely that if I was not renting a room, I could NOT sit in the lobby and use his electricity to charge my phone and I had to leave the property immediately or he would call the police.  I tried to explain the situation to him and he advised that his insurance would not cover anyobne unless they were registered guest.  I have been in the insurance industry for 20 years and this is a lie.  I walked next door to the convenience store where the owner graciously allowed me to do what the Rodeway Inn would not.  When my wife arrived, we stayed someplace else that night.  How would a "desk clerk" know anything about the insurance for the property?

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE-DONT STAY HERE

Bed and room good, the tv i had to ask someone to figure out how to get the closed caption on  as no one couldn’t figured it out but somehow got it on caption she has no idea how  she do that got it worked. As for fridge i crack up as it run fine but not sure when last time they check because freezer got build up way too thick you will mot be able to put anything in there.

I hot hurt from the hooks that was on the bathroom door. It has 2 hooks one way up while 2nd was where your shoulder length are. I walk too close right into the hook at my arm. Not great idea .

And last.. we had it reserved for 4 people. Only provide 1 washcloths, 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels. I ask the front clerk for more only gave me 2 washcloths (I mentioned 1 more.. he said no i mention its for 4 people he seem didn’t care)

Somewhat ok  if all according to your expect which is not

Checked in and got to room, to find that the room probably hadn't been cleaned in a week. We found dead crickets and spiders in the bathroom. Found dead crickets under the edge of the bed and below the AC unit. The sink still had rings where items had been set from the last guest. The headboard had enough dust on it to clearly write your name in it. The floor had enough junk build up that you would not want to walk on it without shoes. Complained to management and it took until 4pm the next day for them to partially  clean the room.  Would not advise anyone to stay here!

Dead Bugs

I try to stay at Choice Hotel properties and this is the only one in Stephenville.  I would recommend finding another place to stay.  Found two live cockroaches in the room and killed both.  The room has zero amenties, not even a coffee maker.  Also they are using the pandemic as an excuse to save money by not providing any breakfast items except an urn of coffee.  I stay in Choice properties at least 40 nights a year and last year at the height of the pandemic every hotel had some breakfast items available.  Texas has been completey open from the pandemic for the past couple of months yet this hotel still doesn't provide the breakfast amenities that are available at other motels. I advised the front desk clerk with photos of the cockroaches and she said sorry.  I would highly recommend staying elsewhere.

Stay Elsewhere

I am appalled that Choice would allow a place like this.No elevator. It's supposed to be non smoking but it reeked with the smell of cigarettes. Trash and beer cans next to the exit doors. The complimentary Continental Breakfast was non existent. Dirty carpet, old sheets. Strange staff. Looks like the pool hasn't been used in months. Had to program the TV myself. The front entry matt said Econo Lodge!!!

Stay Away!!

I think this hotel is undervalued. We stayed on the 2nd floor and our room was fine. New hardwood floors, new paint. Yes the pool was not working but this was due to a guest abusing it. The manager and staff are very nice and friendly. 

Wifi worked great, breakfast was basic but decent for the cost of the room. 

I always find the negative reviews are of those people who are expecting too much from a 3 star hotel. You are not paying for a Marriott so you’re not going to get Marriott service.

Moving sister into tarleton 

   $83 Room with pool view

Pool and hot tub were empty and had dark green water and trash in it. They are using the pool as a storage area also. Cigarette butts all over the sidewalk outside my room. Had a King bed with ONE pillow and several long hairs in the bed. Both inside and outside door had the safety locks removed and the outside door would not lock at all except for the handle. The hot water was scalding hot and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS especially if you have kids. My room said it had a coffee pot it did NOT. All the coke machines on property are out of order. The lamp was unplugged and no outlet in sight I guess it's just for looks. The towels are dirty and stained had to dry off with a wash cloth.

I will not be back.  

Big disappointment

This hotel has been under renovation for quite some time.  This was not noted on the reservation web site.  It is not accessible to those with disabilities.

I had to ask for help with my luggage, since it is stair access only.  My sister checked in under my name.  They did not check her identification, nor did they ask for a credit card.  Glad my account wasn't hacked or stolen!

The rooms, once finished, will be nice.  But!  My shower head was caked in lime, the bathtub dripped so loudly I could hear it in the bedroom area, the light fixture only had two bulbs (for six bulb fixture) and worse, my towels were dirty.  The toilet was not clean and there was hair on the sink vanity.  The tray for the ice bucket was sticky.

The bed was surprisingly comfortable, but the pillows were really flat and the pillow cases were stained.  Yuck!

The pool and hot tub were not operational.  There was a strong smell of pot in the hallway.  Also, the smoking rooms are just across the hall from the non-smoking rooms, meaning all the rooms are smoking.

Visiting cousin at Tarleton

I booked this hotel as a last resort when our VRBO rental got cancelled for Tarleton Parents Weekend. This hotel was probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Our room had an inside AND outside door. The floor wasn’t clean & had to ask to have it mopped when we arrived. We were put in a smoking room that reeked of cigarette smoke. There was even an ashtray in the bathroom. There was new tile and a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom right next to the bed ~ creepy! The bathroom was in need of a lot of work Even though a new tile floor has been put down ~ bathroom counter leaning, the caulk work was pulling apart, lightbulbs were out, rod hangars were left on walls after rods had been removed. Will not be staying here again if I can help it.
