Unfortunately, this place is misrepresented online. I booked a room here and judging by one of the pictures, it looked pretty nice.

However, when I arrived on July 23rd, I was given the keys to a room that I didn't book. I went downstairs and spoke with the proprietor and I demanded my money returned. He told me "we use that picture as an example, the one online is just an example."
What in the world is an answer like that?


Misrepresented Online - A Fleabag Motel 

This motel is a gem.  The style is kind of throw-back, but it's very up to date and very well maintained.  Our room for the 2 of us had 2 queens, a table and chairs and a refrigerator.  The room was immaculate and we never expected to have clean linens each day and daily maid service -- but we did!  Such great service.  Our room was on the first floor, so our car and our bikes were right outside our door -- so very convenient; no waiting for valets or climbing up and down stairs.  It made unpacking and packing so very easy.   The owner was very pleasant and helpful, directing us to points of interest.  We were 2-1/2 blocks from the beautiful beach and 3 blocks from the main business district. We enjoyed our daily bike rides right to and from our door.  It was a perfect September getaway.  We want to go back and would never stay anywhere but the Sun 'n Sand. The price was fantastic.  Thanks for a great time!

Great, convenient place

My husband and I were in town for a weekend wedding in Avalon. We booked a room here because the reviews promised a quaint, quiet, convenient location and that's what we got. We had a 2-bedroom suite on the end (#8). 

Our check-in was smooth and I had asked for extra towels ahead of arrival and they were there in our unit. The unit was extremely clean and had every amenity that we needed. It was very cozy and cottagey and, despite being an older building, it had the amenities that we needed. Specifically, there were plenty of accessible chargers, USB ports, and plugs throughout. The kitchen was well-stocked. The beds were comfy. There were window AC units and they worked fine. 

The location was great. It was in a neighborhood on a side street that didn't have a ton of traffic. It was very walkable to shops, restaurants, bars and the beach. Very walkable with nice sidewalks in a nice neighborhood. We were able to park outside of our room. While we did not use them, there was a grill and picnic table onsite and beach chairs for $5/day. 

We really enjoyed our short stay here and if we do return to the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Cozy, Convenient Shore Town Charm

The motel is basics.  Close to the beach free beach passes cheap bike and chair rentals.. The AC abit noisey
The room impeccable with cleanings. The tile polished. Plenty of towels nice sitting area. In a residential  neighbor close to downtown and buisness. The property  offers  an affordable alternative  to this town..Book early like September for 2022.. This isca very clean  property not one sign nofdirt anywhere. A totally different scene here. You are lodging in between multi.million dollar homes. This town is a secret. First review in a while but this place deserves best review!

Better than the pictures!

Old facility in quiet residential area.  Very small room (unit 3) with minimal furnishings snd noisy window AC.  Fridge but no coffeemaker!  One chair, but no table.  All electrical outlets were in use, so I had to unplug the TV to get power.  Yes, the room was clean   and well maintained, but don’t expect anything modern.

Manage Your Expectations

Sun N' Sand is our go-to place when visiting Stone Harbor and will be for as long as we get to keep making our trips! The motel is located just a 5 minute walk from the beachfront and is just along the main stretch of the town, making it incredibly easy to grab dinner or ice cream. The owners are exceptionally nice and have always made us feel like family when we visit, asking how our stay was and how we enjoyed the beach, etc. The room itself is impeccably clean, complete with a really nice bathroom, though the outdoor shower is a fun draw during the summer. 

If you're looking to visit Stone Harbor, please take time to support local & family-owned businesses such as this one. Furthermore, for those of you concerned about COVID-19, know that the stretch of beach near the motel was incredibly quiet. Overall, I can't recommend Sun N' Sand enough and am already looking forward to our next stay.

Beautiful weekend at the beach

We have stayed there for many years.  We have always had a great time.  Motel is clean and management is very welcoming.  The owners John and Merry make you feel like family.  The motel is within walking distance to the beach, 2 blocks, downtown, 4 blocks.

Stone Harbor is an excellent Jersey Shore beach town to visit.  Plenty of options.  Beach is great...!  Sun & Sand is a vintage motel, common in the area.  We stay in the same room each time we visit.  The whole place is neat, clean and well maintained.  The owner, John and his wife are delightful.  The only down side is they don't have an ice machine, but do give you ice upon request.  

John - you could add an ice machine outside by the shower and drain it in the winter so it does not freeze up.  Just a thought.  

Best breakfast place is Fishin' Pier Grill.  Best place for a nice dinner is Ristorante Luciano, but call way ahead..!

Fun Down The Shore

The Sun 'N' Sand Motel was everything we thought and more. My spouse and I stayed in a one-bedroom room for the week which although was small, it was very quaint and we were both thrilled with it. The cost was really low compared to other motels in the area. A small fridge was in the room but no microwave which suited us just fine. We brought our own coffee maker. Jon the owner is hands-on and willingly saw to our every need. He is an old-school owner/person, a very personable and genuine man. We asked the front desk attendant about bicycle rentals. She let us borrow two bicycles there for an hour to see if we were interested which was very kind of her. She told us if we were interested in renting that there are numerous bike rental places nearby as I don't think they actually rent them at this motel. Parking is free with the beach about 2 blocks away. No doubt that we will be staying here again. The motel does have a few rooms with two bedrooms but we did not have time to check them out. We talked to a young lady who was renting the room next door to us who said she comes to this same motel year after year. We will probably do the same.

Fantastic quaint motel in Stone Harbor, NJ

My husband booked this so walking in was the first opportunity I had to take a look.  We traveled down to Stone Harbor after work but had the forethought to call and let them know we might be a bit late.  We were a bit later than that but the owner waited for us.  We checked in after 11pm.

The room itself was nice and very clean.  It was small but comfortable.  Each unit has a window air conditioner which was fortunate as it was hot this past weekend.  There was no breakfast that I saw, which I have come across in other motels. For the express purpose of a room to sleep in and a place to shower after hitting the beach for the day, this place is awesome.
