We were very sad to leave the 1860 House Inn. Chosen because its very positive reviews, this beautiful house is full of character and charm.

Rose Marie is a wonderfully welcoming hostess, you are introduced to every guest and immediately you are making great friendships. Right from the sight of the bottle of red wine and cheese nibbles on the worktop as we entered, we knew that this had been a great choice.

We were in room 4 on the ground level. Impeccably clean, very comfortable, nice big double bed and a well appointed bathroom. This was bliss in reality. The quiet location just off Main Street made for a good uninterrupted sleep.

The aforesaid would have been enough for a five star rating but there was so much more to please at the 1860. Run of the house meant that there was continual access to a coffee machine, kettle and refrigerator.

When it comes to information on local services and attractions Rose Marie is a fountain of knowledge and goes beyond expectations with her generous assistance. There are numerous great options for breakfasts and dinner nearby and easy access to the Stowe Recreation Path. We had a great stay and would highly recommend with no hesitation.

Better than brilliant

The 1860 House Inn is a charming and very friendly place to stay when visiting in Stowe. Great location close to everything yproviding great walking opportunities and access to many fine restaurants. Bike path is Just one block away. Rose Marie, owner/hostess is delightful and very helpful with information about the area. Rooms are clean,warm and comfortable. A perfect place to stay after a busy day of sightseeing, hiking, or biking.

I was sent here recommended by Mary, the owner of Hobble Inn. Rose is so sweet and so kind. I loved to talk to her about different things. The house is very close to Main Street and there you will be able to find restaurants, shops... I am sure I will be back. Highly recommended.

A charming house in the heart of Vermont

The 1860 House is steps from great restaurants and shops in Stowe, which makes it the perfect place to stay in Stowe. My husband and I stayed in the "comfort" room on the top floor - with a very comfortable king-sized bed and a large en-suite bathroom. It was everything we needed! Rose, the owner, is incredibly friendly and knowledgable about the area. When we came back in the afternoon on Saturday, there was a lovely cheese and cracker plate out on the main table for the guests, a nice touch! For the location and the price, we'll be back!

Perfect location for a trip to Stowe!

We were there in October 2015 (I am not a member of tripadvisor for so long). It is ideally located. We've been welcomed very open and friendly. House is very nice and the nice hospitality makes you really feel home. 
If we'll be in Stowe/Vermont again - we would stay here again.

Very nice, cosy and comfortable!

Rose was an awesome host - she is very kind and inviting, and she helped us plan out our weekend by giving us local tidbits and tips. The location of the Inn is great, and the rooms and house were very well kept and inviting - the whole place have a very homey and cozy feel. No breakfast in the mornings (we were never expecting it as it is advertised as such), but always freshly baked goods, hot coffee, tea, and wine set out in the kitchen. Would highly recommend anyone visiting Stowe to stay here!

Wonderful Experience

What a wonderful introduction to beautiful Vermont.  This Inn and its owner/proprietor are warm & inviting - full of natural charm. A cozy, convenient, and comfortable place to base your explorations from.  The Inn is situated ideally in the heart of the picturesque village of Stowe, with all the local amenities within a brief walk or drive.  Superb restaurants, shops, and outdoor activities galore are available to visitors.  Don't miss Butlers Inn for breakfast or Harrison's for dinner - the food is memorable!  Our fall foliage tour was spectacular, with many scenic locales within mere minutes of the Inn.  Rose the proprietor was so helpful in directing us to lesser known areas which proved especially interesting and beautiful.  We enjoyed several glasses of good wine and conversation with her as we planned our daily outings.  A completely relaxing getaway. Hope to return again!

Fall Foliage Tour

We had a four day family vacation for the British Invasion. Its a weekend each year attended by British Car enthusiasts and collectors.This year we had 14 with us this year so we needed a big place.The 1860 House fit the bill perfectly.Its a charming historic house that has a comfortable "Grandma" feeling.
The location is wonderful just a half a block from Main Street. We were in walking distance to Resturant's and shopping.
The kitchen was very modern and the sheets and towels nice and fresh.Its obvious the owner Rose takes pride in this business and is very accommodating.
