Mike met me at the train station and took me on a tur around the town with food recommendations. The cabin itself was lovely and spacious (and warm).  Two very comfortable double beds. There was plenty of coffee provided and a kitchenette area with fridge. The local shop and restaurants are a short walk. The train station and small airport for flight seeing is also a short walk from the cabins. I would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful cabin in Talkeetna

My husband, daughter, and adult granddaughter stayed at Chinook Wind Cabins for one night prior to our Denali range flight and glacier landing. The cabin was extremely comfortable and very quiet. The location was outstanding, since it was close to everything in Talkeetna (including the airport where our flight was scheduled).  It was a very short drive to the end of the main street where there was a little park right by the river with great views of Denali.  The cabin had a very nice little kitchen, with a microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee maker as well as dishes and silverware. (Coffee, tea, cocoa mix, sugar, and creamer were provided.)  We didn't cook (as we had dinner at a friend's house and went out for breakfast), but we could have done more. The hosts were so friendly and personable and answered all our questions. We even got to see the Northern Lights!  I highly recommend a stay here if you are in Talkeetna.

Great place to stay in Talkeetna!

The Cabins have been recently updated. They look great and are very clean. The beds are comfortable, water pressure is excellent. The towels and bedding all feel of much better quality than your standard hotel. The cabins also have great front porches. 

The cabins are in a great walking location for the town of Talkeetna and they are directly next to a great Bistro. 

The best part of the cabins are the owners, who are very hospitable and will work with you for whatever you need. Walking through the town and seeing the other options I can confidently say this needs to be #1 for the stays in Talkeetna.

Fantastic Stay!

Awesome place to stay for a night. The kids asked if they could stay for another night. Pretty much of the top places we have stayed across our Alaska road trip. Place was clean and in really good shape, the 2 story cabin gave us some privacy from the kiddos as they hang out in the loft.

Picked us up from the Denali train, took us on a quick tour of the town, with recommendations, and as we left for the train the next day, took us to a lookout because "the mountain is out this morning!  The cabin was rustic but filled with amenities, and we were very comfortable!  equipped with a small but functional kitchen, which we didn't need.

Built for comfort and convenience.

This was the best place we stayed in Alaska! The cabins are adorable and well-kept. The location is convenient to the train station and to town. Mike and Tracy felt like old friends from the moment we arrived and had great suggestions for restaurants and things to do. I would go back to Alaska just to stay with them again!

Best place to stay!

Cannot say enough good things. Courteous, friendly and punctual staff. The cabin was well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Stayed 2 nights in the 2 bed cabin and the three of us had plenty of room.  Left rested and ready for the rest of our Alaska adventure.

AWESOME!! Great place.

My son and I stayed in the Brooks Range cabin which would easily accommodate four people.   

The beds were comfy and the kitchenette had coffee, tea, cocoa provided.  It was immaculately clean and the flowers on the porch were such a nice homey touch.

Easy walking distance from town (though we opted to drive in and park most of the time just because it was a bit rainy during our visit.)

Thank you Mike and Tracy for a lovely stay!  Highly recommend these friendly hosts and hope we can come back someday.  

Wonderful, cozy cabin! 

Talkeetna was such a fun town. It started with Chinook Wind Cabins and their fantastic owners, Mike and Tracy. They were extremely responsive on email and Mike had the shuttle van waiting on us as we arrived on train. The cabin was very nice and clean, and it easily accommodated our family of five. Highly recommend staying with Chinook, great memories!

Chinook Wind Cabins excellent experience 

We stayed with Tracy & Mike for the Christmas weekend and they put us in the Brooks Range Cabin.  What a perfect little cabin!  Immaculately clean, and recently, very tastefully updated.  The highlight of the stay was the tiny, lighted Christmas tree...what a great touch.  We've stayed over in Talkeetna several times over the years, but this was our first time at Chinook Wind Cabins, but it won't be our last...we'll definitely be back.
