As it was difficult to find a room at the last minute due to the Inauguration activity today at the Florida capitol, I was pleased to be able to secure a reservation via the CHOICE HOTEL phone center for the  Quality Inn at 2020 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee when I called yesterday.  We arrived today early afternoon to find that this location is
CLOSED.   Evidently there is a mix-up at headquarters.  To his credit the young man with whom I spoke today after finidng we had no place to stay did make an effort to find me accommodations elsewhere.

We booked to stay at the Quality Inn in Tallahassee months before our stay.  One week before arrival we were called and advised that the hotel was closed due to water damage.  Rather than booking us at another hotel close by and not charging additional money, the only offer we received was to change hotels and pay the difference if price, which was significantly higher because it was a gameday weekend.  When attempting to get a refund on the hotel, was advised by Choice corporate that the local hotel had to issue the refund and that they could not help.  Problem is, the local hotel is closed and is not responding to phone calls from me or the corporate office.  Unfortunately, when you book with Choice, you book with their local hotel.  Their corporate brand has no responsibility to you whatsoever and does not care how you are treated or whether or not refunds are issued by their local hotel owner/operators.  Stay away from Choice and go with one of the reputable brands.

Avoid Choice Hotels - Terrible Customer Service

We had reservations.  We confirmed the reservations a week before our stay.  I guess reservations are done through a call center and not the actual hotel, so no one knew that this hotel was closed for mold issues I was told.  We showed up the day of the football game and found this dilapidated looking building closed down.  Trying to find someone that had any clue as to what was going on took over an hour of our time.  We wanted to make sure our card was not charged.  Corporate offices seem to have no idea what goes on at their hotels.  Would not ever stay in a Quality Inn or any other Choice Hotel after this experience.  Probably some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We stayed at another hotel and had a pleasant end to our trip, but never again with Choice Hotels.  I wish I could give this place zero stars.

Avoid Choice Hotels

My credit card was over-charged for one extra night. Within two day I called and asked for resolution.  After leaving messages over three times for the general manager to call me, I still had heard nothing and did not get a credit. I finally ended up complaining to the company headquarters customer service only to have to wait yet again. Finally, on the last day they gave the GM to credit it back, she finally with absolutely no apology or explanation after making me wait 3 weeks for the credit.  The room was not bad, but this was totally unacceptable. Be forewarned, this is apparently not an isolated incident.

Over-charged

I spend 10 days at the hotel when I took my daughter to Tallahassee for College. It was very clean and very close to mall. The staff was very friendly. Will surely stay there again in the near future.
