We stayed at the West Wing in 2018 and 2019 when my daughter was in her first 2 years at USF and it was great. Apparently it is not owned anymore by the Clarion and it has become very run down and dirty, no more breakfast, no more coffee machine in the lobby, very seedy and nothing like what it used to be. Very unfortunate!

Things have changed dramatically!

Buyer beware! This is not a 3-star hotel. The owner’s description is completely deceptive! There is no convenience store, restaurant, breakfast, almost no wifi and money order only. They do not accept credit card any more starting 04/08/2022. Front desk staffs were all very friendly. However, laundry room is disgusting. Towels have big blood stains on them. Prostitutes walking in the parking lot at night who apparently was hit by someone on her head as she appears bleeding… There seem to be a drug problem here.

Not a 3-star hotel!

A shadow that it once was, this hotel provides an affordable stay, but not without its risks. 

The hotel is portrayed as a Choice Hotels property, though it is no longer the case, yet hotel sites have yet to update its current condition. 

Around August of 2020 the hotel was purchased by Hillsborough county and converted Into COVID-19 Care site. Around December 2021, it was purchased by an investment group and is currently independently operated as an extended stay hotel. 

The staffing and maintenance have been reduced considerably and current staff does its best with the resources provided. Rooms are serviced only upon departure, regardless of the length of your stay. It no longer has a restaurant, which is usually a requirement for a three star rating. The advertised breakfast in not available and the gym only has the treadmill and isometric, but none of the barbells or other items shown in the promotional pictures. 

Though the hotel rules indicate a smoke free environment, you regularly encounter the smell of cannabis, in the halls and the parking lot. 

Conversations with staff indicate that the majority of guests use this facility as transitional housing in todays difficult market. The second largest category are out of town workers who are in the area for hard to staff projects. Finally, it is least used by overnight or short stay guests. 

Do not expect the amenities or service you get a a traditional hotel.

Not What You Expect

My wife and I booked our 6 night stay her for next week back in November. We were just advised this morning (2/10/22) that they will not be honoring our reservation because, apparently, they no longer do business with Priceline. So here we are with a flight in 6 days and no hotel. Terrible way to do business, but looking at the reviews, I'm sure we were saved from a suboptimal experience.

Don't waste your time

This is not near a boutique it is an old motel that has a little paint put on the walls.  The staff out the front desk is cold and does not respond to request to have things in the room repaired.  I ask the lady to have the toilet seat in our room repaired the second day we were their but when I left 3 days later it was never repaired. The breakfast is a joke there was few bagels and some yogurt and there is no place to sit in the breakfast room we stay in the hotel for 5 days and because of the noise from the AC we had a hard time sleeping

Not a boutique Hotel

Honestly I’m not quite sure how this earns its ranking in top 20 of Tampa’s hotels. This is a very basic Inn branded as a boutique hotel. It is not a Boutique Hotel! We booked this through Amex and paid $220 a night and although the location is close to Busch Gardens which was the purpose of our trip that’s the only good thing I can say. We stayed for 2 nights, checked in late and were put around the back side of the ‘boutique hotel’. The stairs to the second level smelt disgusting and going into our room had to turn the a/c unit off because of the awful noise to then sleep in beds that must have been on metal hinges because that’s all you heard each time you moved. The parking lot looks sketchy and unkempt. I would not recommend and would advise you choose one of the newer chain hotels just down the street.

This is not a ‘Boutique’ Hotel!

Room 128 smelled of a musty odor. Bathroom had black mold on the ceiling probably because there was no vent in there.
A/C unit was extremely loud as the compressor cycled on and off.
Continental breakfast was disappointing. A few fruits, cereal, muffins and 3 juices. No place to sit to eat.

Very disappointed

Had a good and relaxing trip with family. Needed something affordable near USF to get brother settled for university. The room we stayed at was a far walk from the lobby, if booking, try to ask them to assign you a room closer to the exits. The bed was soft and comfortable. The pillows however were big, bulky and lumpy. The bathroom door did not lock and there are obvious flaws in the finish work. Water pressure was non-existent. The staff however were very nice and genuinely cared. Melissa and Tiki at front desk were very helpful with telling us about local attractions and calling us the Taxi "Jose". If you stay, you must ask for him, he does not speak much English but he was fair with his pricing. Joshua at front desk during the evenings/nights was very helpful. My mother did not want to use the bar soap to wash hands, so Yesi the housekeeping supervisor provider her with a pump bottle hand wash in the room. The only reason I am giving this property a 4 stars is because of the location, the quietness and the staff.

Bang for the buck...

The person that checked us in at night  mumbled something thru her mask I guess it was that they only make your bed if you ask for it. We stayed for two nights and came back the second night exhausted to only walk into our room with a messy bed no replenished soaps and no new towels for around $300 wtf!  Since everyone is wearing masks these days maybe print a large sign that you don’t redo the room unless you ask for it. Just moved my son into college and this is the service we got. I guess we’ll look to make reservations elsewhere in Tampa in the future. Besides the complete lack of service it looks like a blind man did the tile work in our bathroom. And the grout was moldy in the shower.

Fake boutique hotel

Great upscale room for a budget price. The front desk staff was nice and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. I do have some complaints about the room though. They offer an induction stove with no cooking utensils or pots and pans. They did not have a full set of silverware nor did they provide anything to wash the dishes. The room was never cleaned during our 3 night stay. The breakfast provided was a grab and go breakfast, even though all restaurants are open in the area and their website shows pics of a full breakfast. I would definitely stay here again, but they need to fix the complaints and have a full breakfast to get 5 stars.
