I thought this place was great. It's small and unconventional, you'll still use a metal key to enter your room, but those kind of touches is what gives this place character. We brought our dog, and they put us in a dog friendly room that was at the end of the building. Since this place is small and there isn't a lot of foot traffic, your dog won't get as anxious as a conventional hotel where they can constantly here other people. Or maybe it's just my Golden that gets overly concerned with what's going on outside. He's got serious FOMO. 

Best part of this place is the breakfast. Wow! It's a treat, and one of the best hotel breakfast I've ever had, and most definitely the best one I've had in the States. 

The location is great, and walkable to the Plaza where you'll find great restaurants, and shops. I would definitely book this place again when I return to Taos. 

Oh...room, and bed were super comfortable and quiet. Had all the room amenities you need.

Great Place, Dog Friendly

Stayed at the Palacio in early March 2025 for a ski trip w/ my wife.  Had a wonderful stay.  The breakfast was amazing and amongst the best breakfasts I've ever had.  Nicholas is an amazing chef and host.  The bed was extremely comfortable and the roof was spacious (we stayed in the Matriarch Suite).  Price was reasonable.  Would happily stay here again if ever in Taos.  Thanks for a great stay!

My wife and I try to stay in a Heritage Hotel Group property whenever we travel if one is available. We love their Corporate commitment to acquiring and reviving classic local hotels, supporting the regional culture and artisans, and social responsibility.
We have become accustomed to their beautifully and tastefully appointed rooms, comfortable beds with luxurious linens, efficient and professional staff, and incredibly value in our stays.
This was our first opportunity to make the Placio de Marquesa our "home away from home," and it is definitely not an exception...it was exceptional!
We shared three days there with friends from the Fort Worth-Dallas Metroplex, who were in need of a quiet and peaceful sanctuary where we could relax, talk and laugh about days long gone, and the wondrous adventures to come...sitting in the Sun and sharing a bottle of wine. Who doesn't need a place like this and...time?
Our hosts, Pam and Chef Nickolas, welcomed us to the Inn in such a genuine, knowledgeable and kind manner, providing the perfect environment to nurture our goals. They fed our bodies and our souls.
I would love to describe the incredible breakfasts that Chef Nickolas artfully presented every morning, but for some things, "words" just aren't enough. So, I'll just leave you to discover them for yourself.

Every day is a holiday and every breakfast is a banquet...

Delightful property and had rustic charm. Our staff was very personable, Pam and Chef Nickolas. It was easy to unload and load luggage.  It was quiet, small and the property is off of the beaten path. The room was very clean. There were enough needed amenities.  The bed was very nice and comfortable. Our breakfast was to beat all!  Chef Nickolas did an outstanding job preparing breakfast for kings!  I would rate it Zagat quality.  The best meal in Taos and we dined at the best restaurants while there.

Return to Taos after Four Years

Every year, dear friends visit us in Taos on their way to Tucson.  They always pick out a different nice B&B or hotel each time.  Until now.  They stayed at Palacio as our guests in December and were so impressed they have decided Palacio is now their Taos place.  I agree.  Fabulous rooms, incredible breakfast, very attentive staff.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Palacio de Marquesa, an elegant hotel in a quiet Taos neighborhood. Nicholas checked us in and out, and was very welcoming and helpful with advice, both in person and via text. I believe our room was called the Icon Room; it was large and beautifully decorated with Georgia O'Keeffe-inspired artwork. The kitchen was closed, so we had a comped breakfast at their sister property, the Monte Sagrado, a much larger, equally beautiful hotel about a ten minute walk away. I was sorry we didn't have time to visit the Monte Sagrado pool/gym, which is avallable to Palacio guests and looked great. 

We highly recommend this hotel - thank you, Nicholas and Palacio de Marquesa for a memorable hotel experience !

Great stay !

We came to the Palacio after staying at two larger hotels in Albuquerque and Santa Fe managed by the same chain, Heritage Hotels. And what a treat this was -- possibly our favorite of the three! The hotel feels like something between a charming private residence, a cozy b&b, and a historic inn. Our suite, the Matriarch, (which, like all the others was named for an iconic female figure from Taos), had an eclectic and expansive library, a little fireplace, and a modernized bathroom. The rooms all open onto a quiet courtyard with small tables and chairs and we also had a private patio perfect for star-gazing at night. 

But what we most appreciated was the service. In our few nights, we met Mark (the GM of both our hotel and the much larger Monte Sagrado - where you can visit to use the pool and spa), the warm and friendly chef (Nicholas) and Jos, who wrote to us before our arrival and welcomed us  when we checked in. This trio worked so beautifully together and ensured that all our needs were taken care of.

Then there's the breakfast! We were astonished by the range of freshly made pastries, and hot & cold offerings (frittata, bacon, oatmeal, french toast)  in the morning buffet -- all served buffet-style as we mingled at the common table with the other guests. 

We noticed that the property is for sale -- and hope that whoever purchases it, maintains its unique character and keeps the staff on board!

A total gem!

This place was great! More like a Bed and Breakfast…I stayed in the “Romantic “ Room and loved it! Beautiful room with nice amenities and a Huge shower!
However, the staff is what truly stood out the most. Jos at reception went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable! How fortunate for them to have such a great employee. Customer service in most places has went out the window, but not here. The manager Mark was a really nice guy too but I dealt mostly with Jos.

Very pleasant experience!

I booked this bed and breakfast because a lot of the  places I normally go to in Taos had no vacancies for the time I wanted to stay. I decided to splurge a little!  Totally worth every penny! This hidden gem is absolutely wonderful! Everything from the room, the breakfast, to even the parking area feels luxurious. The staff are very welcoming, and anticipate every need. I highly recommend staying here, you won’t regret it!

Hidden Gem

I have stayed here several times over the years when visiting Taos - both on solo trips and with friends. It is a perfect, charming place just enough off the beaten that you feel like you are in a secluded villa. Completely a walkable adventure to the plaza and all the greatness Taos has to offer. Hosts are kind and thoughtful. Breakfast in the morning is always delicious and satisfying with just the right splash of New Mexican flavors. I am saddened to hear that Heritage is looking to sell this beautiful place and I hope that the new owners are able to maintain the charm of this place. PS The themed rooms featuring female artists of the Southwest is what roped me in in the first place - Georgia, Millicent, Agnes … oh my!
