Huge shoutout to the Lodge at Turkey Cove proprietors for their excellent customer service. We were staying at friends' vacation house while our Canyon Lake home was undergoing renovations. We needed to find a place to go in April 2024 for the solar eclipse weekend, as our friends and their grown kids needed their house. I was worried about finding a place for us since I knew everything in the area was filling up quickly, and we needed a place where we could bring two dogs. Turkey Cove had one cottage left and it happened to be the one that allows pets. The staff was wonderful helping me secure that reservation. I later needed to make a change to that reservation and they were awesome accommodating my changes.

The location is excellent, and like most places around Canyon Lake, the lodge staff are friendly and very helpful. I'll recommend The Lodge at Turkey Cove to anyone visiting Canyon Lake.

Great Customer Service

We really enjoyed our stay at the Turkey Cove.  It was very clean, easy access to the lake and the Boat Ramp is very convenient, and so it's the Boat Parking. Our room bed was comfortable and bathrooms were cleaned.  We had reserved the Family size Just Right but I didnt realize the room was upstairs. We had my mother in law with us and stairs are not easy for her anymore. John was very kind and solve our situation by  re-accommodated us to where mom was on the bottom floor.  Very courteous and easy communicating with. The drive to the property is very pretty. The Lodge  is located high up so you get a nice view at night and of the lake during the day.  At night the skies were so beautiful we were able to take some really good pictures.  They are on my phone otherwise I would attach them here.  Maybe I can edit my post later and attach the photos. The moon was so clear and visible from the property it was very conducive to photos.  All and all we will be using this property when we come back. Very clean, comfortable bed, and ease access to the lake and boat.  We enjoyed our stay and want to say; Thank you John for helping us with mom.  We will see you when we come back hopefully once more before end of summer. We love Canyon Lake and you made The Lodge at Turkey Cove our place to stay when we come back.

Very Clean Well Situated

I’m torn about my rating and here’s why: 
1. They allow day visitors for a fee so all of the extra cars/ trailers etc have to have somewhere to go and it’s in the grass where people set up their tents/ picnic tables etc and it’s not safe for young kids. 
2. Owners are great and very helpful and always on site. They leave the utility closet open where the extra towels / blankets and ice machine are, so that’s nice. If you needed to use the washer and dryer I’m sure they would let you. 
3. Water access is 50 yards away! Boat ramp in front of the property too. Can dock boats/jet skis etc right on the water!  Trip hazard though if you’ve been drinking;) Location is everything! 
4. Rooms were clean and spacious. Mini fridge, basic coffee maker and microwave provided as well as coffee / filters/ creamer etc. We had a king bed and it was a temperpedic I think, very comfortable. Window unit. Wash dishes in the bathroom sink . 
5. No WiFi code provided in the room, maybe it was in the office but it was always locked when I tried to go. 🤷‍♀️ 

If I went back it would be during the week.

Better for grown ups

Yes, it overlooks the lake, however, it sure needs some help.  The room is dated, with old, small thin  towels, and no blankets or hair dryer..  The A/C was not turned on, even though owners  knew the exact time we were arriving.  Locking the door was a real challenge, so that caused some security concern.  I guess the worst part was how noisy the room was.  We always knew when someone was walking by or going up/down the stairs.  Pretty sure we were charged $200 because it was a night that a concert was playing close by, (at Whitewater Amphitheater), and most rooms were sold out.  Certainly not worth $200! 

LOCATION ISN’T EVERYTHING 

Love to go to Turkey Cove Lodge ! Clean rooms right on the water . Boat ramp number 2 is right next to it ! You 
can use the ramp , spend the day on the water and when you come in , your right there at your hotel ! Nice grounds for picnics , bar b q s , etc . Great views of the dam and lake from many of the rooms . John is always helpful and accommodating! So nice to stay at a mom and pop hotel , vs big box hotel . Not too many accommodations in this area to choose from . But this is one of our favorites.

Good Old Fashioned Lodging

Cool little place with great waterfront access to Canyon Lake. Room was very clean and nice. Owner was very helpful. We came down to see Willie Nelson & Tyler Childers at Whitewater Amphitheater and we’re concerned about Uber/Lyft to get back. Owner was great with our questions about that. We will be back!

Great Place to stay!

The room was spacious and had a kitchen supplied with pots and pans, dishes, etc and had a table with 4 chairs.  We had two queens which were comfortable.  Bathroom had enough counter space and good water pressure!
We travel with our dog and there was a grassy area nearby and away from the deer that herded down for the night between the lodge and the lake.  John was very friendly at our check and although a little problem, John took care of it.  Would stay there again - especially in the summer.  We stayed in the back motel part which was very nice. The patio and sitting area is at the back of the other building which we didn't use in the chilly November weather, but a quick walk through the parking lot.  There is a boat ramp.

Loved the deer nearby

Highly recommend staying here! It’s affordable and beautiful. The lake is just a short walk away from the room and all of the rooms have a killer view. The owner is always on site to help out if you have any questions. We came during the week and practically had the place to ourselves. The property is dated but the rooms are immaculate. Cold A/C and cable television. Not that you’ll want to stay in the room for very long with the lake so nearby. Bring water shoes and a floatie and spend all day in the cove!

Amazing place

It's not fancy, but it is clean and the staff is very friendly. It has a great retro/nostalgic vibe that we loved. It's right on the lake and there were deer every where! I would recommended it if you don't mind a little character!

Nostalgic and Retro

We used to stay here 25 yrs. ago, when our children were growing up and we would take trips to Canyon Lake to water ski with family friends. Had an opportunity to return to the area recently and decided to stay here. Honestly, I do not think they have updated one single thing. Rooms are very much in need of updating. The price (in February) was reasonable, it was a large room with lots of sleeping space (2 double beds and a set of bunks), there was a mini-fridge in the room, and it's super convenient to walk down to the boat ramp and lake, (plenty of room to park your vehicle and boat trailer--easy in & out), etc. It was quiet, peaceful, we saw lots of deer (very friendly), and truly do have fond memories of Turkey Cove, but the owners need to show this place a little love--actually, it needs a lot of love. It could easily be a Tx. Hill Country gem but, as is, just seems old and tired.
