We traveled to BullDog Camp right after Maine opened up post Covid-19. We took our 10 year old daughter for her first trip to Maine and we can't wait to go back. We stayed in the Brookside cabin which was so beautiful and had a full kitchen and bathroom. We got the American Package and had breakfast, lunch & dinner at the Lodge. The food was out of this world - i honestly couldn't believe how good it was. The first night we had salmon, then pork and then sirloin for the last night. They packed us lunches to go because we were hiking during the day. The new lodge is beautiful and the ground are breathtaking. We used the kayaks and the sauna (freaking amazing) - we are counting down the days until we can come back.

Don't hesitate- book now and enjoy the best spot in Maine...

With our  kids away at sleepaway camp, my husband and I escaped to Bulldog Camps for a 4-night stay, which was highly recommended to us by a friend.  Beautiful, serene, relaxing and fun.  We kayaked, SUPed, hiked, explored the lake, fished the lake with the owner. My husband even mountain-biked on the logging road into the camp from the main road.  Our cabin was cozy and in excellent shape.  Darren (owner/host) cooked all of our meals for us -- he's an excellent cook. Seriously good food. Enjoyed good conversations with him and other staff and other guests. We found Darren and staff to be helpful and responsive (we needed help with  gassing up one of the motorboats). Two regrets: Not using the sauna and not swinging off the rope swing!  What were we thinking? Should have done both. Oh well!! Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our vacation at Bulldog Camps, would highly recommend! :)

Peaceful and relaxing

Bulldog Camps is a wonderful place. Darren is an outstanding outdoorsman and host.  I have stayed there by myself, with friends, and with family.  I have stayed in many of the cabins including the remote camp.  Though on the small side the fishing is great.  Mostly I go up during hunting season.  I would like to tell you that the bird hunting is terrible  because then maybe you wouldn't go up during that period.  I have never seen a moose hunter go away without a moose although I am sure it has happened.  Lots of satisfied bear hunters.  Get Darren to take you on a tour of the lake, the history is fascinating.  The camps are a lot less rustic than they used to be and they were always great. The cooking is grand.  I will be going back for as long as I let me keep my car keys.

12 years and still going back

Bulldog Camps is an old (1880's) camp set up on gorgeous Enchanted Pond. It has all the potential to be fondly remembered with its rustic cabins and setting.  However, the way our group was treated this past weekend (Sept. 27-Oct. 1) leaves us never wishing to return. Upon arrival Darren, the manager (owner?) was all business, collecting our credit card with little or no welcome, which at first we just mistook for "Maine reserve."  When we let Darren know that gas lights weren't working, we were missing basic kitchen items, and that the stove top wasn't working his attitude was one of irritation--it appeared we were bothering him. Reluctantly, he came over to address the issues, but failed to replace one of the non-functioning gas lamps for the duration of our stay.  Two of our group needed to charge batteries for necessary medical devices and were told in advance that charging stations would be available at the Main Lodge. But upon arrival Darren let it be known that would only be from 6 am to 10 am daily.  Problem was, at 6 am the Lodge was locked up tight.  Each day we had to awaken either Darren or his staff to gain access to the electricity.  One morning Darren blew up at two of us for knocking on the doors.  For the most part, Darren and his young staff were poorly motivated no-shows all day long, making asking questions about issues at the camp, about the fishing in general, how to gain access to Little Enchanted Pond problematic.  It was as though Darren had another job going on at the camp next door where much construction noise filled the weekend. This would have been fine if the very young threesome that made up the "staff" gave any hint of being directed to attending to guests' requests--when they were around.  Another feature: Multiple rules for guests were posted in our cabin.  Among the rules: clean up after your pets!  Problem was the two camp dogs (Baxter was one) made it their business to do their daily business in the grassy areas in front of the guest cabins--again with no camp employees present.  We all had the pleasant experience of stepping in it.  If this wasn't bad enough, the motor boats ($60 each per day) all seriously leaked such that after a couple of hours on the pond, they needed major bailing out with the old buckets left on the shoreline for guests to deal with. The boat house that contained worn out life preservers and decrepit canoe paddles and boat oars was like visiting an abandoned yard sale of items thrown together for "pickers" to climb over.   Much of this could have been ignored had the manager not had an attitude of irritation that we were there.  Strongly recommend finding another place.

Despite the Beauty, A Negative Experience

Staying at Bulldog Camps was a truly relaxing and memorable experience! We were greeted by an impeccably clean, beautifully-updated cabin, where we read the guest book full of interesting characters who had ventured to Enchanted Pond for family events, reunions, hunting expeditions, and getaways over the years. It's clear this is a spot beloved by many - and for good reason! Between the home-cooked meals, warm hospitality, and tranquil surroundings, it's hard to imagine a better place to unwind, explore, and re-center on what matters. Like many others before us, I have a feeling we'll be back more than once!

Gorgeous, serene, and ripe for adventure! Great Maine getaway!

We went to Bulldog Camps for a 3-day anniversary trip in early June. It was an amazing place to disconnect, destress, and reflect. The new main lodge (featured on the website) is a terrific addition with excellent food, a fully stocked bar, and family style seating. Would highly recommend the 'American Plan', which includes 3 large and tasty meals/day. The cabins are well maintained and very cozy with heat, shower, and kitchen. Be prepared to disconnect for the time you are there (no cell service, wifi, outlets). Would recommend you bring extra charging batteries and a 'spot' or similar device if you plan to venture far from the main camp. 
For pilots: the lake is ~7500' in length at ~1500' MSL. There are mountains to the immediate west and east of the lake at ~2500' MSL. To the north, terrain steadily rises to ~2300' MSL at a grade of ~8%. If wind is calm, recommend coming in from the south and taking off to the south to avoid terrain. Bring at least 75' in rope to reach the cedar trees along the shoreline. The docking area for the camp is a protected rockybottom beach with little wave action unless the wind is direct from the south east.

Fun, friendly, and relaxing Maine Camp! Beautiful spot to disconnect

Bull Dog Camps is a fairly remote sporting camp situated on the north east shoreline of Enchanted Pond, Maine. A newly constructed lodge is complete with resturant/bar and gift shop. There are several cabins to rent as well as lake boats, ATVs and miles of trails within reach.

The owner is very accommodating to request including bring in Acadian Seaplanes out of Rangeley Maine to provide scenic tours right from the camp. 

If you are looking for a getaway experience or a remote site for a wedding or simply want to experience Maine and it's beauty then I'd recommend Bull Dog Camps as a great place to try. 

Prepare to unwind and chilax.
