If you ignore the exterior and the rough area, you'll find a decent hotel.  It's clean-ish and pleasant.

The problem? They have smoking rooms next to non-smoking rooms and our room was thick with the smell of smoke.  It hurt my nose, irritated my eyes and gave me a headache.  It's gross.

Also, the bed squeaked and the mattress was old.  

Breakfast was a bit of a joke.  There is 1 waffle maker, bread for toast, and some cereal.  

Smokey Rooms

This motel is run exclusively by a foreign couple.  They are rude, hard to understand, and do not understand American customs.  When I arrived at the motel, the desk clerk (manager wife) told me that there was an additional charge for the room.  I balked, having prepaid.  Her husband came out and said they could charge the additional fee because he had posted a sign in the lobby saying so.  (Huh?)  I said, fine, I'll pay it, let's go.  He then made me wait 30 minutes while he "checked my reservation."  Mind you, I had prepaid and confirmed the reservation already.  This was vengeance, pure and simple.  I would have walked, but it was late and I was tired.  Finally, the man left and the wife made nice and completed my check in.
The phone in the room was not turned on.  I called the front desk and asked the man to turn on my room phone.  He said o.k.  He didn't.
The management at this motel is the rudest I have ever experienced!  Please don't patronize this motel.

RUDE MANAGEMENT

I like the location and the view. The room was nice but the staff was unfriendly. The breakfast was horrible. The eggs had no flavor and no meat. Where was the sausage and bacon. I would recommend you stay here. But I would also recommend you don’t eat the breakfast. Why are they the only hotel/motel in Topeka that doesn’t have the pool and Jacuzzi/Hot Tub open?The best thing about the trip was the woman in the lobby wearing a two-piece bikini. Her butt cheeks were hanging out. So I got to see some butt cheeks

Just Okay

They had an electrical outlet without a cover and wires out in our room, 3 options for breakfast, moldy shower head, mildew smelling ac unit, and they claim to be pet friendly but decided our dogs barked to much so they kicked us out at 11pm while my 1 year old son was sleeping. We have been all over and never had an issue with our dogs. I would definitely never recommend this hotel to anyone.

NEVER RECOMMEND

They claim to be pet friendly but they threw us out at 11pm. We have traveled all over the country with our dog's and never had any problems. The people are very rude and didn't even care that or 1 year old grandbaby was asleep. Save your money and book elsewhere this place is also a dump that has sleazy tactics! 

Not pet friendly 

Awful.  The room smelled. Sheets had cigarette holes. The pillows stunk. The key pad had electrical tape on it and pictures were bolted to the wall. The carpet had duct tape. Then the front desk tells us not to go outside after a certain time, we listened. Also no elevator. 

Thank God only a pass through stay 

I was pleased with my stay this time.  They have made many updates.  It wasn't the finest place, but it met every need.  It was quiet and comfortable.  The only thing I would change was to upgrade the breakfast.  It was just basic.  I will return next time I pass through Topeka.

Don't be fooled by the name.  They have everything for a nice stay.

Don't be quick to think it will not be updated and clean by the outside of the building.  It is an older motel but it was by far a great place to stay  The desk help was always friendly as we came and went often and the housekeeping staff were quiet as they worked in the morning..

Short vacation stay

Great place to stay while in Topeka - safe area, near all the resturants and shopping. Lobby is always clean and the people at the front desk greet you with a smile. Making upgrades every year it seems to the rooms which is nice.  Make sure you arrive early, even when calling to confirm my room request, and promised it by phone, they seem to give them away to whoever checks in first. 
Parking lot needs some work.  Been staying at EconoLodge at Wanamaker for over 10+ years. Love it!

Texas-Topeka Road Trip 2019

The staff was friendly and courteous.  The breakfast was better than many since it included eggs, sausage and waffles. There is an indoor pool that I would’ve used had I brought swim trunks with me. The room was clean. The beds in our room were full size rather than queen size which was kind of small for my parents to share. The bathroom was very small, but everything worked.  The area seemed safe.  It is very near the highway, but we could not hear it from our room.
