The mattress was very comfortable. Room was clean and done in retro. Being the vintage we are we appreciated the effort put in to keeping it in retro period. Love the Nash parked out front. Best thing our doggie was welcome (with proper reservations.) David who greeted me at check in very personable.

The beds are so comfortable and being able to park at our door and not in a big parking a lot is a safety measure that important for us. We do not worry about our car getting broken into and a decent restaurant close by is another plus. We appreciate those keeping Route 66 alive 

Following route 66

Its next door neighbor, The Blue Swallow, is better known; however, the Roadrunner Lodge is a blast from the past as well. This restored motel on Route 66 features mid-century style with modern comfort and conveniences. A 60’s  “radio broadcast” features old shows and commercials as you enter the room which is as welcoming as any “modern” accommodation located on the I-40. Located in the heart of Tucumcari, this lodge offers a taste of Route 66 history when motorists made “Tucumcari Tonight!” a destination.

Though the website speaks of lightening fast internet, I could not connect either via my phone or laptop. Standard cellular data is nil in this area of the city.   Were it not for this, the room and facilities are as advertised. Rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable.  If you need to connect to the web, find someplace else.

We were very delighted with the work done on the Roadrunner Lodge to bring the past back!  CJ and Dave have done any amazing job even including their own radio transponder to play music and commercials from the 50’s and 60’s.  The room was very clean, the service impeccable.  They have an outdoor area for sitting with grass and a burn pit at night.  Thank you for an amazing stay!

Bicycling Route 66

After six stays at the Roadrunner Lodge, we can state with certainty that it is a true treasure.  The rooms are more than just comfortable.  The beds are comfy, the towels fluffy, and the room is immaculately clean without exception.  Staying at the Roadrunner is a unique experience.  The retro furnishings, art, and custom radio programming  transport the guest back to a time when cars had chrome, music had meaning, and travel was fun.

We know that many travelers stopping in Tucumcari are doing so on the way to somewhere else.  However, when the sun goes down and the neon comes on, we find that Tucumcari - and specifically the Roadrunner Lodge - become a destination in themselves.  We look forward to a seventh stay soon!

A National Route 66 Treasure

This is a Route 66 retro themed motel.  It is very clean and pleasant yet, DO NOT expect an overly modern experience.  The Room and bed are comfortable. There is no refrigerator, microwave or coffee pot in the room.  They are available in a central location.  The owners care they have done a marvelous job restoring this motel.

A Pleasant Night

I cannot say enough good things about the Roadrunner! Super clean with attention to details including a personal welcome for our dog!! The sixties motif is carried out throughout the property including an old time radio with sixties music and ads. A relaxing trip back in time with all the comforts of home.

  Great route 66 lodge that allows your furry friends. 
 We stayed here driving across the country with our puppy and could not have been more pleased. They had a welcome gift for our pup and had 50s music playing in our room upon arrival.
 The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable.  They have a fenced dog area for some off leash time as well.
 This place is very cool and brings back memories with all of the nostalgia.

Great place in Tucumcari 

A great motel with or without my dog. Very 60's and clean. Very pet friendly with snacks for your dog and something for the owner. A lighted, fenced-in dog area is available for walking. Fire pit lit when weather is warm. On Route 66 and easy to find. Great owners. No microwave or fridge in rooms. I think there might be a common room for that. I love parking outside my door. Easy access for dog walking. Always try to stay when passing by. My 2nd visit.
