Desert Inn

Tucumcari

Desert Inn turned out to be a great overnight stop.  Easily accessible to the interstate, however it was quiet with no road traffic noise during the night. Very clean.  Staff extremely courteous and friendly. Only downside is no elevator. 1st floor rooms have easy access. We didn’t use the breakfast buffet but it looked fine.  This isn’t a fancy place - but clean and comfortable. Would stay again.

GREAT OVERNIGHT PLACE TO STAY WHILE TRAVELING.

Like other snowbirds, we stay at Desert Inn on our way to and from Arizona.  This time around we met Twyla at check-in.  She greeted us with a smile and was super efficient.  She offered assistance with our bags.  Pretty much everything she did was with kindness and proficiency.  The Desert Inn is clean and great for our short stay.  The breakfast area has all one needs for sustenance.  The price is right.  (Desert Inn:  Twyla's what you would call a keeper! )

Tucumcari Snowbird Stop

The lady who slept in the bed the night before wore very strong perfume. It would have been nice if the sheets had been changed between guests. I tried to call the desk when I first smelled the sheets and could not get through. The clerk the next morning just told me to call management. Management promised to call me back last week, but of course I have heard nothing.

I thought sleeping on dirty sheets was not fun. Do not recommend.

We spent one night on March 19, 2024. When we checked in, Twyla was at the reception desk. She was extremely professional and friendly. She was very knowledgeable of all the amenities. Please commend Twyla, she made our stay there very enjoyable.
On a different note, the gentleman that was there on the morning of March 20, would probably benefit from customer service training. Unfriendly and at one point had his eyes closed behind the counter.

Twyla was awesome!

Desk clerk Twyla was awesome.  I'd had a previous bad experience with another motel that wasn't a chain.  She totally understood and let me see the room and I was pleased with the accommodations. I must say that Twyla was super sweet and very helpful.  I wish others could be at least half as nice as her.  Thanks Twyla.

Awesome Twyla

Simple hotel. Staff was accommodating. Room was small. Bed was great. Very minimal breakfast items. Mostly cereal and waffles. They couldn’t keep fresh coffee available or condiments filled fast enough. Wi-Fi didn’t work. 

Simple hotel. Easy to get to.

Very convenient and easy to get to, right off I-40.  Very clean facility, room and parking lot well kept and very well lit, especially nice when you have a car full of stuff.  Very helpful and friendly staff.   Great price.  Overall, a win when traveling though New Mexico and needing a place to stay.  

Convienent and very clean wit nice staff

The room we were given had a very strong smell of detergent upon entering. It was very overwhelming to the extent it was making me ill in the hour my husband and I were in the room. Because we used the bathroom and a soap and hand towel in addition to sitting on a bed we were not refunded our money as we requested. 
Also the door hinge was pulled from the wall preventing the closing of the door correctly. 
One final issue was the “creative” electrical work. Doubt that it is up to code. Picture attached. 
We did ask the girl at the registration desk about the smell and she told us all the rooms smell like this. She said it’s the cleaning products they use. 
The desk clerk called the boss concerning a refund and we were told no as I said above. 
We left anyway. Becoming ill wasn’t worth the $100. Across the street was a Holiday Inn Express which is wonderful.

Desert Inn Tucumcari very disappointing

Me and my husband have been doing a road trip for the past few weeks and have stayed at plenty of inns along the way. The dessert inn is a cute and comfortable hotel with a great breakfast to offer and clean rooms. I do have to say that we had a situation with a dog that wouldn’t stop barking, but Trista at the front desk handled the situation and saw that the dog was taken cared of. It’s in walking distance to gas stations and a local restaurant. The town is small, but has plenty of history to offer.

Overall good experience

Me and my family were looking for a hotel with enough rooms for all of us. I spoke to Trista over the phone and she answered every question I had and was patient. When we arrived my first impression was absolutely gorgeous. You can tell they take good care of this hotel. Once again we spoke to Trista at the front desk and I couldn’t be more grateful towards her. She got me and all of my family on the same floor, same area, with great prices, and close by the pool! Everything that we wanted. For the pool itself, the waters are crystal clear and my granddaughter had a blast! The rooms are comfy and spacious enough; had all the necessities as well! One of the best hotels we have stayed at since traveling.
