Just an additional note.
Why in the world this place is known as the "Breakfast Motel" ? Your guess is as good as mine ? This is a cheap "bare bones" place and they definitely don't serve any kind of breakfast of any kind....not even corn flakes ! 
Maybe it's because it's next door to Del's, which is one of the best places in Tucumcari for breakfast, lunch or dinner. :-)

Back in my first trips in the 1970's this was one of the better better motels in Tucumcari. Good rooms, nice heated pool. Nowadays just a shabby eyesore...pool has long since gone
I thought I would check on the place for old times sake on a pleasure trip a few years ago. When I first opened the door to the office I was greeted by a horrible had smell. I don't know if it was "pot"or not, but I made a lame excuse and a hasty retreat.

Sorry for the bad report. Maybe I just stopped by on a bad day ?

Maybe they should  name it the "No Breakfast Motel " ?      LOL

Ugh!

We booked us on booking.com based on the pictures and a couple of  reviews  saying it was a great Route 66 experience. It was far from that. We had been traveling from California and had booked this online with booking.com feeling like it would be safe comfortable and clean. We arrived very late. I went into the office to ask if we were at the right place because there wasn’t even a sign saying breakfast motel.  But this is where our GPS lettuce too. I went in the door realized that the surroundings didn’t look like anything in the pictures. I was met by a man who spoke no English only Chinese. I showed him my reservation on my phone. He did not ask for ID he did not ask what type of vehicle we were in and he Seemed extremely confused. He made one card and walked me down to the room. My husband was waiting in the truck as we were pulling a trailer. He open the door to the room and I almost had a heart attack. The carpet was absolutely filthy. The ceiling look like it was about to fall in . The betting with something from maybe the 80s. My husband at that time I came to the door and saw what I saw and said Helmo. This is not what was shown on booking.com. The air-conditioner was being held in by a board and some kind of duct tape. It was  rattling like it was about two either catch fire or fall out of the wall. The window would not lock. I went to open the bathroom door and it was disgusting besides the fact it was smaller than an RB bathroom. The carpet literally felt like it had some type of slime on it when I took my flip-flops off. I did not hear feel safe here  . They were people wondering around the lot, it smelled like someone was smoking pot. When I look in the bathroom the window in the bathroom was cracked and broken and it would not close and lock either. At that time we called booking.com and started the process to get a refund so we can get out of there. While I was on the phone with the nice lady my husband just said forget this we are not staying here . My husband got us out of there so we could find somewhere safe and clean to stay.

Horrific experience

If you are crossing the country and/or going through New Mexico for any reason, this place is worth your stop. It's a little off the beaten path. So be sure to call the hotel directly. Rama is extremely accommodating and friendly. I was traveling alone with my child and she did everything to help me. Even in the middle of the night, she happily took my calls and my interruptions.

Where to stop when crossing the country

This was once part of the TraveLodge chain and one of the nicest motels in Tucumcari.
But ......That was in the late 1960's. But.....That was 50 years ago. The pool is gone and it is now just a cheap, bare bones, budget motel. It has had its ups and downs in between.

It does have one advantage, though.....It is next door to Del's Restaurant which opened in 1956 and has remained as a good place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a snack.

Former TraveLodge

Owner was kind.  Rooms need upgrading/updating.  Because of the area, staying by myself was quite nerve-wracking. Price was great, but please know that upstairs vs. downstairs and smoking vs. no smoking are different prices.
