This is a budget motel, and an old Route 66 motel.  The owner (who checked us in) was professional, polite, and interesting.  This is a “mom & pop” type business, and the kind that we LOVE to support.  You’re not paying $80 or more a night, so don’t expect shiny amenities, BUT the room will be clean, toilet, sink, shower, etc. will work.  Although the old Route 66 in Tucumcari is showing her age, I never felt unsafe in anyway in the neighborhood.  I’d happily stay there again.

Americana is a Perfect Name

Booked a room, asked for non-smoking and it definitely was not. Old filthy dirty room...Original bed, carpet, drapes, fixtures; so much dirt/dust you could see it everywhere. Bathroom sink plug broken in permanent down position. Curtains not hung or aligned properly, you could stand outside our room and see straight in to the bed. Rat turds discovered behind bed, I had to pull it away from the wall to use the plug. Don’t waste your money here!

Was headed for another motel when I saw the sign 29.95 for one person so I took a chance. Old style motel with modernized improvements. The room had all the basics done well. Spotlessly clean, TV, fridge, hot water and wifi. Continental breakfast was non-existant, but the price was right.

This old fashioned hotel on Route 66 was pleasant place to stay while passing through. The price was very reasonable for quality of bed, cleanliness, location, and continental breakfast. It was noisy early in the evening but quiet at night. The linens were high quality and towels were clean and plush. I will return if I pass through Tucumcari again.

Easy check in. My van barely fit in lot. Window unit a.c. not turned on upon check in nor was the small refrigerator (unplugged). A.c. blew across the bed. Direct Tv went out during small rain, Wi-Fi although free was way too slow to stream.
Area around it is dead aside from a newer Circle K. Went to the truck stop on I40 to get dinner and noticed a Marriott being built. I love the nostalgia of Route 66 but will pay to have better quality. Woke up at 330 and confined my driving. I recommend you also keep going by.

Route 66, nothing more

This is a Route 66 historical motel. Very dated. It is dirty enough for us to decide using our own pillows and made us sleep in our sleeping bag on top of the bed. It is not the worst motel we have being in, however they need to wash better their pillows and not only the pillow cases. The air filters clearly needed to be clean. The whole room smell like chorizo because of the air from the AC. The location is very good to see some of the neons from the motels at this town of the route 66. It had free wifi, free parking (the traditional in front of your room of a motel), and a fridge. The price was one of the best ones and that made us pick it, however, there is another historical motel in the same town that has an extra cool vibe plus great neon, plus is renovated and you can park your car like inside of a garage near your room. If I stay in this town again I would try the other one. Forget about the free breakfast. They have a fridge in their office in theory with some breakfast inside but it has a lock and they did not open it the morning we were there. pets allowed if you pay extra.

Air filters smell bad! Dirty place but historic cool town! Great location!

Can't believe how dirty the room was. Both owners were very rude.  Continental breakfast is coffee and stale cereal, with a note on the fridge to NOT USE the milk for drinking.  They put out the "buns" two at a time.  While this hotel is on Route 66, it's just too dirty to make it a reasonable choice.
