I am a occupational therapist and I work for the department of veteran affairs.  I was charged with helping a purple heart disabled veteran and his certified service dog with finding room and board in tuscumbia al for a few hours one evening. He needed to rest for a few short hours and was willing to pay a full night rate just to be able to do his dialysis for a few hours before getting on the road. You're making a reservation, and speaking with Sid the owner three times no less. We drove through a tornado and a torrential downpour and after 12 hours on the road we arrived. They turned us away because they did not want to give us the handicap room for one night  because the owner had a date and wanted to use the room. They said they do not allow service animals although all the reviews say they are pet friendly we presented all the necessary credentials and were told that they do not have to acknowledge nor follow the policies of the law supporting Americans with disabilities. They laughed at me when I told them I would be writing reviews and exherting effort to make others aware of the experience that this disabled veteran was subjected to. Thank goodness he went to war several times so foreigners can hide behind the Constitution and use it against those who deserve to have their rights protected and reserved. 

For all who want to know what to expect

Have stayed at Key West in Fair Hope which is why we selected this one. Mistake. No comparison. A shabby, poorly maintained place. Hard rails on the stairs are so filthy you don't want to touch them. 1 hand towel for 2 people. Cigarette burns in the bedspread (non-smoking room). 2 hangers, 1 coffee bag. while we were out for breakfast someone on staff went into our room to "collect towels". Spend a little more and find a better place. Als on major truck route so bring ear plugs.

Find some place else

The Key West Inn is wonderful. We had an amazing time. The room was very clean and the staff is great! The hotel has a washer and dryer, drink machine and vending machine. The entire place is very clean. There is also someone who checks the parking lot and surrounding area.

We will definitely stay here again!

We, my husband and our friends have been coming to this Keywest in Tuscumbia Alabama 15 or more years, and every year has improved. Clean rooms, excellent friendly helpful staff, breakfast and great prices. We always feel welcomed and we appreciate the wonderful owners, great family atmosphere, and that is why we keep coming back.

Very Clean Motel, nice people,  friendly people who are willing to help a busy working man.
Close to good restaurants,  close to area activities.  Easy to get in and around the parking. 
They have parking for for semi trucks. 
Well lit parking lot. A Safe,  clean Motel.

Clean Motel

Plastic sheets, ac barely blows and the air doesn't actually get cold, shower had no water pressure and takes forever to warm up, nasty carpet worn out furniture taking up what little space there is in tiny rooms. EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF

all of the above and more i  would not stay anywhere else mainly because the  owners and staff are completely about making sure that the guest are happy and satisfied  i would reccomend keywest to everyone who comes  to muscle shoals alabama

I left a precious blanket that has 3 of my grandchildren on it that was given to me for Mother’s Day. I called them and they denied having found it. I know it was there because I used it the 2 nights we stayed there. It is very soft and very special. I would have paid for it to be mailed to me but the lady that answered the phone didn’t even take the time to check.

Staff was friendly, motel was inexpensive. We were most pleased to have a room w jacuzzi and price was good. Ample parking. Dont count on much of a continental breakfast, it was bare bare essential. Would stay again if ever back in area

Stayed here for one night on a weekend trip and found it cozy. Even though the sign a mile up the road say newly remodeled, the room was a little outdated, but nice. The bed was super comfy and we slept really well there. The breakfast was lacking but the coffee and juice was really good to get our day started, we are not breakfast people anyway. They didn't have any non smoking rooms available so we ended up in a smoking room BUT to our amazement it did not smell like most smoking rooms at hotels! It smelled clean and not like smoke at all! We checked in very late and the guy that checked us in was very nice and got us quickly in our room and was the same person who checked us out the next morning and even though he looked extremely tired he was still smiling and very nice. All in all YES I would definitely stay here again, they just might want to update the furniture to match the sign up the road (except the beds).
