We stayed here March 19th-22nd and had a wonderful time.  The cabin was clean and cozy. There was a refrigerator/freezer stocked with ice, microwave, fireplace and plenty of wood.  Paul at the front desk was absolutely the most hospitable person I have dealt with in a very long time!  Jessica was a doll and very informative.  We let them know we would most definitely be back with our kids and will probably need 5 cabins.

Great Place to Stay

We were quoted 69 a night and when we arrived it was 129. After complaining the manager gave us 99 a night. Also, room had very little hot water. Not a great weekend.
 We were disappointed at the type of service we received.

Bad Weekend

My stay with this lodge was from Sept. 20th thru Sept. 22nd, 2018, my reservation call was last minute and all lodging was completely full. When I stated my situation and urgency, they made room for myself and my dog "Harlie".  Greeted with such kindness by the Assistant Manager "Eric" of whom throughout my stay continued to help and personally assist me with "Out Of Ordinary Requests".  Such as walking my dog for me on his off time when I was injured!   I can not say enough good things about this lodge and it's staff.  He made my very bad trip a happy and memorable one.  Thank you again Eric...

EXCELLENT C.SERVICE, RATES AND MUCH IMPROVED MANAGEMENT!

We stayed at the Antlers Inn last weekend, the employee sent us to a cabin, nobody around in the office, customer support is horrible. Once we got to cabin, there was a couple and a dog already there. We got sent to another cabin. Total disappointment, no A/C in the room, the furniture from the 60's, there was hair in the dilapidated Jacuzzi tub, I wouldn't put my dog in the tub...!  Called about the A/C, a girl brought a 22 inch fan and told us there is no AC in the cabin.  The TV remote kept falling apart, the sofa was old, rackity chair, the window coverings were falling apart. People kept walking around the cabins late at night, people woke up real early making all kinds of noise by our cabin. The place felt unsafe. Also, there was no WIFI and the soap dispenser in the bathroom was totally empty. No toiletries at all in the place. I'm surprised they had toilet paper. I would never stay in This place again, I would warm anyone considering to stay in This place to run the other way.....!

STAY AWAY, A REAL DISSAPOINTMENT..!

I've never actually stayed at place where I did not feel secure!!

We stayed here for two nights, and booked last minute because we were "lucky" enough that there was a cancellation.  The location is great, and we knew it before hand, having previously stayed across the street at Pine Rose Cabins two years ago (which was sold out and I highly recommend, see my review).  The cabins themselves are cute, and the website paints a pretty picture of a serene forest surrounding, which unfortunately falls short of reality.  Inside our cabin (#3) was some beautiful furniture, including a gorgeous heavy wooden four poster bed and a fun antique round wooden cabinet.  The service was overall friendly, although falling short as far as actual service goes.  

The numerous negatives are as follows:
- Not all of the cabins are for rent, and about 50% of them have people living in them, and to be honest it is not the classiest.  Not really that awesome to rent a vacation cabin when the neighbors patio and lawn is strewn with trash.  Parts were a bit "trailer parkish".
- Actually had to call the police because the neighbors in cabin #23 were screaming and yelling, and threatening to kill each others family.  Then the girl started smashing out all of her boyfriends car windows with a brick.  Not exactly the serene forest ambience we came from LA for.  The same couple continued walking directly past our cabin door, and my wife and I did not feel secure.  After the police were called, we were conscious of a possible retaliation (they were obviously crazy people) and we slept with my camping knife and a heavy metal rake that I took from the grounds (another guest in another cabin took the pitchfork for the same reason) and the windows closed (even though it was super hot).  The employees of the cabins seemed pretty nonchalant about it, saying that it has been going on for some time and they were looking for a new place to stay.  I guess their guests confort is not really their top priority.
-As is unfortunately often the case with locations like this, the potential is there, but the delivery falls short due to poor management and lack of general TLC.  I understand that some maintenance costs money, but picking up trash ad cigarette butts does not cost a dime.  They have little solar lamps around the grounds and over 50% of them were knocked over.  This is obviously a case of the maintenance personal and the management not caring, and overlooking the small details.
-The fan in our cabin was broken, on the hottest day of the year, and the interior was 90 degrees upon arrival.
-I was told there were grills available, but when I requested one, there was no propane, so they gave me charcoal to use in a gas grill?!  My steaks and corn turned out great, but it made a mess of the grill, but unfortunately, I don't think they really cared.
-At check out time, we would have liked to express our concerns in person, but no one was there.  So we just locked the keys in our cabin and left, never to return again.

If this place had more appropriate pricing, considering it is not a far step up from camping, it would be tolerable (other than the having to call the police thing), but since it is just as expensive as some other really nice places in the area, I can't recommend it.  If this is all that is available, better to try a different date.

I can't imagine too many return customers

Service was great and the staff was even better. Highly recommend this inn for a great California adventure.  Zeb and Jessica were outstanding. The cabin was quaint and warm during a late spring snow storm.

Negative reviews are typically not our style, these are tough establishments to run and maintain, we get that. But when the owner/manager refuses to return calls about our complaint(s), I was compelled NOT to sugarcoat anything we encountered at this facility.
While it didn't result in any delay in unloading our car, upon arrival - after putting up with L.A. traffic on a Friday (my mistake) - we're told our cabin is not ready, put us in a different cabin. 
That said, the setting of this place screams 5 Stars, and at first glance our cabin - #18 - was charming as well. But the facilities and grounds - when we used them 3/10&11/2017 - were/are in serious need of renovation/replacement/maintenance. As my title suggests, again, when we stayed there, the facilities were FAR more "Campground" than "Inn".
1) No kitchenette whatsoever. Bring along a camp stove to boil water or make breakfast as the Antlers Grill doesn't open until later in the day; the exception being their Sunday brunch, of which we did not partake. The coffee filters in the cabin were old and not the right size for the basket. I always bring along coffee singles for such eventualities.
2) We were told the chimney's had been recently swept, so we bought a small bundle of firewood from the little tweaker's market next door, along with paraffin starter pieces; lit em up and the cabin started to fill with smoke. Just "in case", I had the door open and some windows open as well - the smoke detector did not go off. I carry insulated gloves and pulled the smoldering material out ASAP. Obviously, the flue pipe had an obstruction as there is no damper. This obstruction - clearly visible with a flashlight and confirmed by the very nice guy, James, who checked us in - was a let down as wifey and I were looking forward to enjoying the fire.
3) Don't even THINK about enjoying the jetted tub, unless you have a stove and large pot with which to add hot water; the water heater is WAY too small in this regard. You're sitting in tepid water, before the water level is 3 inches deep in the tub. By the time the water is hot again, you're sitting in cold water. Another let-down.
4) The bathroom sink as well as the toilet, had VERY slow drains.
5) Wifey dropped her brush, it rolled under the bed. When I went to retrieve it with flashlight in hand, I bout gagged as it appeared the floor under the bed hadn't been cleaned in decades.
6) The proverbial kicker? A day or two after we'd arrived home I called and asked one of the staff to have the management/ownership call me back so that we could share our disappointment and discuss a possible minimal credit to our charge card as a result. No call back, instead leaving the unpleasant duty of dealing with a justifiably disgruntled guest - me - to the subordinate staff! The owners/manager STILL haven't called me back
A LOT of people go to this area - as we did - to attend functions (wedding) at the San Moritz Lodge, a GREAT place with stellar staff and amenities. Do yourself a BIG favor. Pay the few more bucks, and stay closer to town. The few dollars you'll save staying here, simply aren't worth it. - Pets are allowed in some cabins, but not ours.
