I made a reservation for one night, July 17, 2021.  When I arrived,  the place was dark and I was met by a casually-dressed man who informed me that the place was closed for renovation and I would have to leave.  I told him that I had already paid for the room.  His response was "So, call Hotels.com and get them to reimburse you."  (Hotels.com is not reliable for reimbursing people, but that's another story).
As I was making an attempt to find a nearby hotel, using my phone, two women showed up and were talking with the man, who it was clear was the owner.  He offered to show me the rooms, as proof that the place was closed.  As it was dark, and I was outnumbered, I left and eventually found another room.

Bait and Switch

Needing an inexpensive place to stay in Uxbridge, MA, I decided to try the Quaker Inn & Conference Center. Reading the reviews did not put me off completely because some of the worst ones were pretty old. We found that for the money it was just fine. The room was huge, the beds were comfortable and the AC worked great! There were some issues: no towel rack, carpet worn and definitely in need of replacement, and the feeling that there are some ongoing upgrades being made without a completed job quite yet. Everything was clean, but worn. Because my expectations were low and the reality was so much better, we are giving it 4 stars. I would not hesitate to return if I have a need to be in that area again.

Worn around the edges, but quite adequate

What an absolute nightmare to say the least. The owner is a horrible man that swears at the top of his lungs at 8:30 in the morning mean while beeping his horn to look for the manager . I was in between apartments and forced to stay there for a couple months and it may well have been one of the worst experiences in my life. The place is just absolutely filthy. I could go on and on but I won't , stay clear of this place.

This place doesn't even deserve a tiny fraction of a star. Room was not clean when we first entered. And when I say not clean, I mean it was filthy. After cleaning the whole room, from top to bottom, by ourselves, we found a couple different types of prescription pills, left lying on the floor from previous guests, along with a couple pennies and plenty of dirt and filth everywhere. There is NO WAY they even TRY to clean these rooms. I do not recommend having any young children stay in these rooms. As obviously, there is danger of them ingesting prescription drugs that their cleaning people overlooked while cleaning. Management is a joke and there is NO housekeeping. The owners, manager and housekeeping are some of the rudest people I've ever met. No consideration at all, for their guests. The owner will come here and beep his car horn to get the front desk ladies attention, several times a day, usually starting early in the AM. Then they proceeded to yell at each other in front of occupied rooms. Very unprofessional. You can smell liquor on the management ladies breath, at any given time, even in the wee hours of the morning. Her son runs around with a gun on his hip and his little Napoleon complex and the cleaning girl runs around in her pajamas, while making sure not to clean anything professionally. She actually walked in my room with a dirty rag and started cleaning my table tops with a dirty rag she used in other rooms. Absolutely disgusting. Needless to say I had to sanitize the whole room after the cleaning person left. Management and housekeeping and even the owners make a conference area to speak of their business in front of your rooms while you're trying to sleep any hour of day or night they feel it necessary. Very unprofessional when the owners and staff are yelling and swearing at each other outside of your room. It's like gossip central here. There is no privacy or peace of mind here. The Board of Health has been here a few times already and I'm surprised this place hasn't been shut down yet. I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I'm aware they have been cited for several issues. All on which they are trying to fix, while inconveniencing their guests. Bring your own pillows and bedding, unless you don't mind laying on nasty stains and cigarette holes that expose the filthy mattresses and pillows. We asked for new sheets and got "clean" sheets with at least 20 cigarette burns in each. Forget even trying to ask for clean towels or toiletries. They're all too busy trying to fix everything before the Board of Health shows up again, to bother with catering to their guests. If you ask for anything, they make you feel like you're putting them out. The shower barely gets you wet, as there is little to no water pressure. But don't worry, the shower drain doesn't work and you'll at least be able to get your feet wet. Yuck!!! Old bug traps that look like they're from the 80's, left on the floor with bugs in it, on the floor that obviously wasn't cleaned. Some of the long term guests that stay here, must think they own the place also, because they are just as rude and loud as the owners and management around here. If you can deal with the filth and rude staff and are just looking for rest and relaxation, this isn't the place for that. I guarantee you won't get any sleep.

Absolutely Horrible

Our Experience at the Quaker Inn & Conference Center in Uxbridge, Mass

My husband and I arrived about 8 pm on Sunday 10/4/15.  It was dark and cold and we had been traveling all day (or we would have NEVER stayed).

After paying $100 for the room the manager made a phone call to a "housekeeper" and asked for towels in 3 different rooms.  Apparently the manager had to get them herself and we were then directed to a room across the parking lot.  While my husband got the car, I walked over to the room,.
When I walked into the room, I found electrical extension cords help up by hooks running along the ceiling on the wall.  Then I walked into the bathroom and opened a cupboard (thinking it was a closet) and found electrical wires hanging loose.  The bed looked like it hadn't been made and the
 bedspread had just been thrown over it.  It looked like a water bed that didn't have any water in it (the manager said later that it was an air bed).

My husband and I then went in search of the manager and told her that there was no way ANYONE could sleep in that bed and she directed us to another room and the far end of the parking lot.  She then went back to the officer to get a key.  While we were standing in front of the room, we
noticed that there were holes in the wall with drywall spilling out onto the carpet in the hall.  We also heard an infant baby crying in the room next to ours.  While were were standing there, the managers son brought in several grocery bags to the people "presumably" living there.

When the manager finally got back with a key, we walked into a room with 2 double beds.  As the manager was walking in, she was picking up stuff off the carpet (which probably hadn't been vacuumed any time lately).  She noticed that there was no bedspread on one of the beds
and found it balled up on the floor between the wall and the bed.  I asked about the fact that there was no blanket and she went to find one.  When she returned with the blanket, she noticed that the sink in the room was running water and with great difficulty got it slowed down to a drip.

This whole process took over an hour and she finally left.  I don't know if the bedding was clean but It was definitely dingy and old.  I slept in my clothes so I wouldn't touch the sheets.  We brought our own pillows but I would have never put my head down on those pillows.

The next morning, I couldn't turn on the sink faucet even after pulling with all my strength.    The bathroom floor tiles were curling up and the shower didn't have enough water pressure to barely get you wet.  The towels were thin enough to see through.

I think the Building department and the Health Department should not allow the filthy, run-down excuse for a motel should be allowed to be open to the public!!



What a NASTY place to stay

Got here at 3:30pm. Check in time was 2pm.  Room was not touched.  Watched a couple go in and "clean" in less than 15 minutes.  Went back in and was not vacuumed, bed was barely made, comforter hanging half way off bed.  Sheets had tons of cigarette burns.  Refridgerator was wobbly.  No phone, coffee maker, microwave...etc.  NO HOT WATER!   Went to take showers at 4pm and no face clothes, (only two little towels and two hand towels, no bath mat) no hot.  only ice cold.  next morning (no other place available  :(  )  water got warm, not hot.  dropped key fob off before 7 am,  no place to leave so I left it on fence post.  Called later to make sure they got it.  Wanted to get money back , but couldn't be bothered, just wanted to get out of there fast.  Slept on bed not in.  DISGUSTING PLACE.  Manager was not very professional.  Was with "friends"  drinking (?) when we went back to ask her questions.  NEVER AGAIN HERE!  Has a pool if you call hole in ground a pool (liner ripped and dirty.. no water)  Grounds could be really nice if cared for properly.  Has potential if right manager. Bathroom floor is warped/peeling up.  holes in walls where fixtures used to be.  hall is hot.  soda machine not working.  vending down stairs in building C (newer part?)  not there.  Not sure if they even changed sheets. walls dirty. (hand prints?)
