The inn was exactly what we were looking for in a quaint Vermont Inn with the exception of the hospitality.  I know it was the season between leaf peepers and skiers, but a little more interaction and attentiveness with/from the staff would have been appreciated.  The woman who checked us in was helpful, informative and friendly, but after she was gone, there was no one manning the front desk.  We rang the bell at the desk a few times while we were there and no one came.  There appeared to be an innkeeper that we saw one evening (briefly) and in the morning, but he basically seemed annoyed that we were even there.  That made it a disappointing experience.

Nice Inn, lacked hospitality

It’s a very sweet old inn with a lot of charm. There are new innkeepers since June 2023, who have made the inn very welcoming.

The restaurant, only open Wed- Sat, is top notch. We had excellent dinners there. On Saturdays there is usually an excellent, extremely talented pianist playing during dinner. 

The inns heating system is a little funky, but we had a space heater to use when the heat was turned off. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and plan to go back to the restaurant even if we don’t stay there. Chester is full of nice shops and is very friendly.

Quaint with a great restaurant— new chef

Hotel was clean and pleasant.  A little campy in a good way. Owners were conscientious and eager to please. I was happy my daughter was able to experience an old fashioned hotel rather than a corporate box hotel.  Breakfast was easy and fit the bill. We arrived late and were ready to hit the slopes early.  We would come back.

We stopped in for lunch. I ordered a hamburger and my wife ordered a side salad.
This was on 12/30/22.
After over 1/2 hour of being patient I asked our waiter, Steven, where our order was. He said he would check -  and never came back to us with an answer. I waited a bit longer and approached him and asked what was going on. He said our food would be out shortly.
Bottom line - after 45 minutes of waiting (we almost walked out) our food arrived. My wife's salad order was wrong. We didn't want to wait for a fix so we brought the issue to another employee who adjusted the bill - as was appropriate.
Lunch was a total disappointment.
We decided to give them one more try - for dinner.
Out waitress, Mia, was extremely pleasant. 
I ordered something listed on their menu and was told they were out of it. 
I had to go with "plan B" which was not really something I wanted but we had time constraints so I just went with it. 
While to food we ended up with for dinner was good, and Mia was great, this was not a stellar experience.
Coupled with the lunch experience is why we rate this place 2 stars.

Bad experience

I called the inn and requisted a queen room. The owner answered the phone and said it would be a minimum of two nights at $200 for Saturday and $170 for Sunday. When we arrived we could park on the inns property becasue that was only for the staff. Our room was terrible. The shower was in the closet and the wash basin was in the room. I went to the front desk and complained, Thonkful I was reassigned to a decent room. No breakfast as I thought was included. Just wrappened up muffins and coffee. 
I could not recommend this place ever.

Unprofessiomnal lodging facility

My wife and I  ordered the herb chicken. $24 each.Chicken pieces were very small  Somewhere between 2 to 4 ounce of chicken. The chicken was way overcooked. 4 pieces of the smallest aspargus you have ever seen. Did not like the taste of it. The best part of the meal was the baked potato.  My wife enjoyed the rice. The waitress and bus boy were great. They were very friendly. They advertise cranberries and rosemary in a garlic and  white wine sauce. There was absolutely no sauce and the cranberries were 6 craisins. This is the only place to eat on a Tuesday night. We went to a gas station up the street and bought a chicken salad sandwich after we left the restruant.  Spent $82 and it definitely was not worth it.

Dinner at The Fullerton Restaurant

We stayed during the week. The inn was quiet, there were very few guests. There are cute shops and cafes within walking distance. Central to multiple ski areas. There are town hiking trails a 5 minute drive away that are nice. Affordable. Breakfast is only continental which is a bummer.

Quaint Inn

Have been here many times, but this time our experience wasn’t good. We made a reservation for 4, was seated all was good. Our server took our drink order which took a long time. 
Then she took our app order and that took a very long time than just one of the three came out. So we waited then we asked for a refill of drinks and water, then we waited and our salads came out with our meals. Which the burger came out with no side of fries or anything. Our salads came with dinner, so we asked where our other two apps were she said oh we are out of calamari. So we said can we have onion rings she said we don’t have a frier tonight.
We said we order potato skins she said oh I didn’t hear you say them. So we ate our dinners and salad. Our diners were cold.
I had the chicken  calipres a very small piece of chicken the size of the tomato slice which cost $22.00. And my husbands burger was cold as was the potato skins when they came out.
Then the checks had the wrong drinks charged to wrong checks.
Very disappointed

Dinner

This is a charming old inn, with lots of personality.  Patty is the hardest working hotel manager I've ever met.  She goes out of her way to try and make sure your stay is perfect.

If your main concern is modern amenities and cookie cutter accommodations, this is probably not for you.  But, if you want a clean comfortable place to stay in a quaint little New England village, you'll love it like we did.  Chester is adorable, and the Fullerton is it's centerpiece.

Wonderful Sisters trip

This little town of chester puts a lot of time and effort into decorating. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night the first weekend of October. It came to $200. 
Our room was very small with and outdoor porch which you share with the room next door. 
The walls are thin so you do hear the cars driving by at night. This place is 100 years old so be aware the rooms are small and the place is old but kept up very well. 
The only disappointment I had was the continental breakfast. The did not have eggs meat and potatoes. Which for $200 a night expected.
The staff was very polite and curtious. The lunch menu and dinner menu is VERY affordable. 
The food was delicious i will be coming back. Such a great experience
