A classic B&B built in the 1850s with a gracious and helpful host on site. We spent two days and nights in this part of Vermont and enjoyed the hospitality immensely. Yummy breakfasts with homemade muffins, and waffles, with fruit, yogurt, tea and coffee. Frank, our host, tipped us off to a nice 2.5 mi. hike along the Mad River just north of town. The town is quaint with Saturday farmer's market and endless views of mountains, forests, and farms. Spend some time enjoying the lawn chairs behind the inn and lazing under the giant maple trees on the property. Lots of board games in the entry room. We staying in the Log Cabin room on the second floor, cozy, but comfortable bed, armoire and bathroom with all the neccessities. Our room looked east onto fields and forests. A very good value in our book, we hope to visit again! 

Comfy, quaint historic B&B with stellar host

The b and b is adorable, clean, cozy, warm and hospitable.  It’s a cool older home with updated lighting and heat etc…. But the real reason behind my awesome review is the breakfast.  it was amazing.  i know you might think breakfast is breakfast but not at the Swanson inn.  I woke to the smell of pancakes and coffee which warmed my heart.  Once seated my husband had the pancakes and the avocado toast and i had the local granola one day and the best oatmeal i have ever had the next. I cook a lot and can  vouch the high quality plant based food that they serve.   I will return for the cozy rooms the comfy beds and convenient location to the ski mountains, but mostly I will return for the breakfast.  I even got the secret recipe to make it at home.  

Awesome ski weekend stay.  

Tim was amazing, we’ve never stayed somewhere with such a great host. He had tons of recommendations if you wanted them, but also wasn’t intrusive or anything like that. 
His breakfasts were great and served fresh! The house was comfortable with a pretty yard.
On Sundays he asks what kind of pie you want and serves it with hot tea also of your choosing. It really made our stay special and of course the pie was delicious.
The rooms are upstairs, and the staircase is steep so keep that in mind if you have trouble with stairs. It’s a historic home after all

Above and Beyond and PIE

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this charming inn!  Innkeeper Tim goes way above and beyond to pay attention to every little detail.  Trail recommendations, dinner recommendations, warm cookies every afternoon and a ready pot of tea whenever you want it and delicious, delicious breakfast.  Warm, cozy, charming...on and on...

An Incredible Stay!

Any time you spend at the Swanson Inn, you will be made to feel welcome and at-home. If you can, get there on Sunday, for pie!
The inn is historic, renovated, and very comfortable. The hosts include a seventh-generation Vermonter and a former member of the US speed skating team. 
I had a vehicle mishap before I arrived, and before my car was repaired, Tim graciously offered to drive me to nearby Sugarbush to ski! 
If you get take-out from one of Waitsfield's restaurants, the hosts will make a place setting for you to enjoy your dinner at the dinner table. They make you feel at-home.

Swanson Inn Features Authentic Vermont Charm and Hospitality

Hosts were welcoming and helpful in recommendations of what to see, dining and directions.
Great breakfast, especially homemade muffins.  Have multiple areas for breakfast.
Have pie and tea on Sunday afternoons. Good location. and easily accessible to highways.
Have nice outdoor area with tables and chairs for down time.

Great iInn to stay in Waitsfield

The room was in fine shape; the breakfast was delicious, and Tim & Rick were very kind and impressively helpful to guests. The Swanson Inn is a 3 minute drive to Lawson's Liquids and other businesses in Waitsfield. There is a nice 30 min. hiking trail along the property.

Great Stay.

From the moment we pulled into the parking area we were welcomed and cared for.  Tim and Rick are wonderful hosts/operators of this Inn with tons of local knowledge if you need it.  The room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfasts were wonderful. The covid measures that were taken were appropriate and we always felt safe.  We will definitely try to stay here again!

Leaf peepers

I stayed here with some fellow hikers during our Long Trail thru hike and we were treated like royalty, with a completely comfortable and relaxing vibe. Tim & Rick fed us the most delicious food for both dinner and breakfast, served us wine in the lovely back yard, did our laundry, took us to town for resupply options, picked us up at the trailhead and returned us there the next day, and were warm and welcoming in every way. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the common areas are warm and  congenial.  I can't wait to come back with my husband.

Fabulous place!

I was on a cycling trip in Vermont and had booked a night at the Inn. I got a little lost in the Vermont woods and Tim was checking in on my arrival and whereabouts. It was nice to get a text and offers of help and advice before I had even arrived. Once I arrived I was taken care of wonderfully. I was brought a cold beer and told dinner was on offer which was a godsend after the day I had been through. I was fed once my bike had been locked away in their barn. I had a fun dinner with a group of hikers - all at the appropriate social distance. 
My room was extremely comfortable and I slept very well. Breakfast was all freshly prepared and very tasty. 
It was a pleasure to stay at an Inn with such super and engaging hosts. Thanks Rick and Tim and I look forward to returning.
