Fitch Hill Inn was the lodging option we chose for our little Central Vermont getaway during these crazy times, and boy, did we stumble upon a gem! 
Perfectly located a short drive north on VT100 from Stowe, the Inn is the ideal launchpad for day trips across Central, Northern and Western Vermont. Dating back to 1797, It is one of the earliest properties that was built in the unassuming little town of Hyde Park, and still retains much of the old structure and foundation, though it has been maintained in a top notch shape by the owners over time. The owners and Innkeepers (John and Julie) have invested  their invaluable time and talents to upgrade it.. including handmade dining tables in the room where they serve mouth-watering breakfasts made to order with love and care! Their little touches are all over the inn - like Julie’s intricate quilts, and John’s remarkable woodwork, and their exquisite antiques collection that they have acquired over the years. It is part of what makes staying in the inn so special - the whole building and everything inside it is a labor of love, and it makes you feel privileged to be able to experience the history and striking beauty of the inn first hand. 
The stay was perfect in every way, right from the pre-trip communication to local tips, to the room, and the breakfast. The excellent Covid precautions were noteworthy, and we felt as safe as in our own home. Masks are mandatory outside if the room/suite, with no exceptions and they have made significant changes - for example, instead of pouring coffee into guests’ cups, they have a pot of coffee for each guest at breakfast. Also, they serve just two couples at a time for breakfast, in a fairly large room that can accommodate 12 guests normally. Since it was after the end of the foliage season, we were the only guests staying in the inn, so we felt extra safe!
Though the facilities, like amazing victorian beds, the common room, the little shared kitchenette are all good, what made this stay special was the heart-warming hospitality extended by John and Julie! With masks on, and at a distance, we had many enriching conversations with them, as they shared glimpses of their inspiring life in the military, and the decision to buy this inn and settle in Vermont. The gourmet breakfasts at the inn were very memorable and a fine example of their outstanding hospitality, and the warm, freshly baked cookies every day was the icing on the cake.
The booking experience on the website and the clear description of each room was a clear winner (along with the price) when I decided to book here. I am glad I did, and encourage everyone who are looking to stay in central VT to consider this gem of a B&B which captures the essence of Vermont in every way!

Fitch Hill Inn is a delightful place and the innkeepers are both friendly and professional.  We especially appreciated the many thoughtful touches such as the homemade cookies delivered to our room. We were perfectly comfortable and felt very well looked after.

Spotless and cozy

I loved staying at this bed and breakfast! I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves feeling welcomed. From the time I checked in to the time I checked out, John and Julie made me comfortable and respected my privacy.

Vermont B&B

My wife and I stayed at Fitch Hill while biking the Stowe Recreation Trail and then on to other rail trails nearby. Very convenient to the Stowe and surrounding areas. Quiet area and plenty of parking.

The Inn is my idea of the perfect B&B experience - unique and interesting home and architecture, in beautiful condition, with exceptional service and food. Our suite was huge, with a wonderful whirlpool tub, fridge, and comfy bed. In addition to regular heat there was a gas stove/fireplace in the room that we cranked up to get warm quickly after arriving at night. Toasty.  Every detail/amenity was available in the room. 

Breakfast was stuffed French toast made with home made bread and local blueberry preserves.  

This was our first time, but we were with two other couples who had been there before and had wanted to come back. We all agreed we have to do it again.  I can see this as perfect for the Foliage tours, skiing in winter, and pretty much anytime of year.

Perfect for VT biking, hiking and skiing

Wonderful hosts offering everthing you could want. Clean comfortable rooms with attention to detail for the conveinence of thier guests. This is a hidden gem when it comes to B&B's and really should not be missed.

Amazing Bed and Breakfast Inn located in the heart of Vermont. Located near the Rails Trail and many other attractions.

I spent a night here as my spouse was having surgery at a nearby hospital.  Fitch Hill is a beautifully restored home with lovely antique furnishings.  The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts very accommodating. I appreciated the special precautions for Covid 19.

A Delightful Visit

Visiting friends in the area, the inn was perfect in every way imaginable.  Attention to detail was noted by someone  else and I agree.  It was comfortable, immaculate, peaceful, and aesthetically pleasing. I am not a breakfast person, but homemade bread was exceptional. Innkeepers Julie and John were  great hosts making the stay exceptionally enjoyable.

Perfect

The inn is located in a quiet neighborhood on a dead end road, and away from traffic.  It has a long history but has been renovated and updated by the owners, Julie & John.  We stayed in the Green Mountain Suite, a large room with a king bed, couch, kitchenette, a small dining table and a modern bathroom with a large jacuzzi and walk in shower.  The room is on the first floor with direct access off a covered porch.  The hosts were very nice.  Julie prepares a great breakfast and brings fresh cookies to the room daily.  Fitch Hill Inn is near the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which is why we visited.  Morrisville is a five minute drive and Stowe, not far beyond.  We enjoyed the inn and the owners very much and will return to again ride the Rail Trail.

Quiet On The Hill

We came to Hyde Park to bike. The rail trail is right nearby. The Inn was very comfortable. Julie and John have thought of everything and they are closely following   COVID guidelines. The breakfast was amazing, I especially enjoyed the homemade apple butter and the maple cream with my warm muffins.  I bought a jar of the homemade apple butter to bring home with me. The warm chocolate chip cookies hanging in a handmade basket on our room door in the afternoon was such a winning detail. There was a mini kitchen on the second floor near our room with everything you might need,  coffee, bottled water, plates and silverware. Plenty of nearby restaurants now serving or doing take out. I recommend Black Diamond BBQ.  The one thing that could be problematic is the lack of air conditioning on hot days. But this is a very old home, and these old, well-built homes tend to hold in the cooler air if you pull your shades in the morning. The bathroom in our room was small, but everything we needed was right there. Water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water.

Attention to detail

My wife and I stayed with Julie and John for 2 nights on a ski trip to Smugglers Notch. We loved the rural location on the hill away from busy roads. The Inn is a peaceful place and managed extremely well. Very clean, warm, and welcoming. Rooms and Inn decor are done well in period style. Lots of extra amenities and great service makes the Fitch Hill Inn a great place to rest and relax.
