We brought a group of 16 people from 5 states for a training retreat. The facilities were more than adequate for sleeping, dining, group meetings, private sessions, recreation, and personal relaxation. A passing winter storm did not interfere with our comfort or access. Terrie, our pleasant cheerful hostess, was attentive and responsive. If we do this in this area again, this could be our go-to place.

Successful and Enjoyable Weekend Training Retreat

I was there for a retreat .  The facility was ideal.  Clean, warm, spacious, the food was really good, everything we needed for 2+ days of socializing and meetings was right there.  The hose and hostess were most accommodating.  The bed I had was amazingly comfortable, and the pillow nice and fluffy as well.  
Just a great place to stay!!

A Comfortable and Relaxing Experience

The Dumaine House sits at the end of a road, overlooking tree-covered mountains.  It's a beautiful setting.  Terrie, the live-in caretaker kindly answered questions.  However, it was surprising and disconcerting to realize the caretaker used the bathroom off the kitchen.  That left us with three, not the advertised four, bathrooms for our exclusive use.  In the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, with high-risk people in the group, I found this uncomfortable.

Meals with a View

Dave and Terrie Dumaine are some of the friendliest and down-to-earth hosts we've ever had. I had planned a casual weekend wedding for 50 guests, and the Dumaine house was an ideal venue.

The house comfortably sleeps 40 people, and is set up perfectly for entertaining large groups of people. We had our ceremony on the beautiful, scenic grounds available to us (40+ acres!), and had our reception just down the road at Honora Winery (INCREDIBLE place for any celebration.) 

My guests loved the "camp/retreat" vibe of the cabin, and so much fun was had on their gorgeous porch (with a killer mountain view.) Dave and Terrie were helpful, but respected our privacy. They were easy-going when some things went awry, and overall just very easy to work and communicate with.

My only regret is that we didn't stay longer :) I would love to come back someday and celebrate more joyous occasions on this little piece of Vermont paradise.

Perfect for a small weekend wedding!

My family stayed in 3 different rooms here over the 4th of July weekend.  The house is located in a beautiful wooded area.  The hosts have lots of acreage, a garden, a chicken coop (FRESH EGGS), a pond.  The house has a lot of space as well.  There is a pool table downstairs - I didn't see it. The large room where they serve breakfast also serves as a meeting room.  The hosts are wonderful cooks, the breakfasts were healthy and abundant.  When invited they sat and visited with us and were very informative about the area.  Good folks.  The only down sides were the shared bathrooms but even that was not a deal breaker as we were sharing with other family members and the lack of AC.  My husband is in a wheelchair and was able to get around easily.  The wheelchair accessible bathroom was very user friendly.

Friendly Hosts

I stayed at the Dumaine House with two friends in June 2013. We were there for two nights. The owners, Terrie and Dave, were so friendly and helpful. It's a big guest house - they do a lot of group retreats, and it's more like a big cabin. On the first floor there were two rooms, each with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds, two bathrooms, and a sitting area / living room. Outside the 'apartment' area was a larger common room with a fire place, tables for family style dining, and couches. There was also a second floor of 'apartment' accommodations much like the first. Outside the common room was a large deck with a couple of Adirondack chairs and a table and chairs. There's apparently also a game room in the basement level, although we didn't venture down there. They were also in the process of adding a chapel onto the rear of the house. They host a lot of church groups and there were a lot of Christian-themed pictures and publications in the house. My friends and I are a mixed religion group and everyone was comfortable.

We were the only people there the weekend we stayed and had reserved one room. Terrie opened up the other room on the first floor for us so no one had to crawl into the top bunk. It was really nice of her to do that. The bedrooms were cozy. The beds were a little firm (I like a soft mattress and inevitably complain about this everywhere I go) but overall we were really comfortable there and I slept like a rock, regardless. The guest house is big enough that you don't feel like you're on top of your traveling companions the whole time.

They served up a giant breakfast both mornings and we ate til we rolled. They have chickens on the property so there's fresh eggs every day. 

The property itself is fairly remote. They have wireless available, but none of us had any cell phone reception. They also have satellite TV, but if you wanted to disconnect, this would be a good place to do so. We had a nice time sitting on the deck with a glass of wine (there's a fridge in the 'apartment' area) watching the clouds roll over the mountain. Terrie and Dave gave us great directions and recommendations for restaurants to get dinner. Their whole family are just the nicest people and we were all happy to have met them and spend the weekend in their house.
