We loved this place. We were only here for one night just so we could see the Volcanoes National Park and a bit of Hilo. 
You check yourself in, keys and info are left for you which is super easy.
We got such a wow factor walking into the room, it was spacious and beautifully decorated, so different from all the beach hotels. 
There are also restaurants and shops just down the road which is handy.
The only thing I'd say that may be an issue for some people is the noise, being in amongst the trees there is a lot of bird noise through the night. I know that can't be helped but if you're a light sleeper it may be something to consider

What a place!

Nice accommodation to visit the Volcano National Park in the countryside. The existing restaurants sometimes close very early (at 18h). Highly recommended is the food truck Tuck Tuck, about 5 minutes away by car. We'd come back.

Lokahi lodge

Careful! The photos show that this is a descending staircase. The toilet was not cleaned and the sink was defective. Since there is no one else on site, you have to report by mail, which is not a problem if it wouldn't be a few days before someone returns and then only with 100 excuses.

Down, bad lodge

Was exactly as depicted and advertised - great location, very clean and spacious (we had 201, top floor unit with king & double).
Our family of 4 especially appreciated that there were enough towels and the small kitchenette with fridge and mircrowave. And there was a great breeze through the windows. Only thing to be aware of is the beds are VERY firm, as they’re on a wooden platform, no boxspring. I actually don’t mind a firm bed, but you should know in case you prefer a soft or medium mattress.
We loved how close it was to the Park (5 mins!) and to Thai Thai bistro (delicious!)
Check-in/out was so easy too. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect home base for the Park

We stayed at the Lokahi Lodge for two nights because we wanted to go to Volcano National Park. The short stay was also enough. We had room 203, at first glance, really beautiful and spacious. The bathroom seemed to have been remodeled and really stylish. But then we realized that the cleanliness of the room was only superficial, because behind the beds and under the dessert, there was a dustpan of years. Also, there were lamps and digital clocks full of dust. This is obviously nothing for allergy sufferers. The second night was short and uneventful, because next to us, room 202, another couple had moved in, and then no one could have kept their glasses in the room to keep them out loud.

Nice but with some disadvantages

The Lokahi Lodge was clean. The location is close to the national park entrance. The room looks like the pictures and feels more unique than a standard hotel room. I would highly recommend this hotel.

As advertised, exceeds expectations

We spent two nights at the Lokahi Lodge. It was the ideal starting point to explore the Volcano National Park. In less than three minutes you're in the park. The room in the lodge was very rusty but clean. There was a small microwave, coffee machine and plates and cutlery. At night you fell asleep with the sounds of the rainforest. A great experience. The room was cleaned daily. The only criticism was that there was no safe.

Pure nature

Lovely room with a fireplace, what else is needed. Very big bathroom and clean room. Close to the volcano park and  nice restaurants nearby. Living in the middle of the jungle with amazing plants just outside the house.

Aloha

It was enough to sleep. Very close to the national park, but it was all positive. There was no air conditioning, an extremely small bathroom, in the room funnel lighting for that in front of the door a yellow headlight that shone itself through the curtains. To get in and check out you have to drive to the soglet, the reception is, well, accustomed. In volcano itself there were hardly any maintenance options, the restaurant  shown on the Internet. Then you'd better take a hotel in Hilo and drive the 28 miles to the national park.

It was enough to sleep.

We stayed here for 5 nights and more than pleased with the cleanliness and bathroom etc .It is tucked away but close to shops and restaurants and the national Park which is presently closed.Only 20 minutes to airport also on highway 11 which was easy to find from the airport.
