Ok, so this will be difficult to summarize how special our stay at the Lodge was but here goes. We stayed 4 nights in mid-July 2021. And it's a stay my entire family still talks about to anyone who will listen. My wife and I, and 3 kids (16, 18 & 20) were speechless when we first arrived.  The Lodge is very big and felt like a small hotel, according to my daughter. The 3 bedrooms are big, with comfortable king beds/pillows/linens and include big flat screen tv's, large closets and dressers for clothes.  Each room has an exterior door that takes you out on to a lanai that wraps around the entire Lodge.  There is furniture located in different areas on the lanai, for sitting with a drink or eating breakfast and a coffee in the morning!

The "Great Room" was super comfortable with the large couch and 2 large chairs. The decor, paintings, photographs, books on bookshelves on all topics (loved ones about Hawaii) made you feel like you were at home. 
The kitchen is large, long counters, and was fun to cook in; the walk-in pantry was a nice bonus. Every appliance 
you needed and more (happy to locate hand mixer). Brand new gas grill on lanai worked perfectly, where I enjoyed a beer (or 3) a couple nights while grilling and listening to the sounds of "coqui" at night.

Bottomline: if you want to be near the Volcanoes NP and/or have a truly memorable stay on the Big Island, then stay here.

Enchanting property, beautiful home, comfy/cozy/unforgettable interior, & lovely owners

6 of us stayed here last week.  The house is beautiful and located in a very quiet area about 10 minutes outside Volcano National Park.  The lush 3 acre property is full of beautiful native plants and birds as well as some other cute animals.  There are also outside porches which wrap around most of the house with several seating areas.  The inside of the home is straight out of a magazine!  Beautiful wood floors, granite counters, comfortable seating areas, a gorgeous fireplace (which we did use), and 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.  Two bedrooms are large (not sure if Queens or Kings) and the 3rd bedroom has 2 twins.  There are two bookshelves which have a variety of books to read and/or games  to play.  There is also a variety of cookbooks in the kitchen if you want to make your own food.  The only note to make is that Google Map does not like the address of this house.  So if you stay, please make sure to write down the directions and the caretaker's phone number in case you get lost.  We didn't have either and drove on some VERY dark dirt roads trying to figure it all out.  If you have the chance to stay, I don't think you will be disappointed.  It is truly a lovely and peaceful place.  And the delicious loaf of homemade bread left with us with a nice extra treat!

Relaxing and Peaceful

This was a lucky find for us.  They had a last minute cancellation so we booked the week between Christmas and New Years in November.  We weren't sure about the location..far from everything but if you want a unique Hawaii experience this is it.  The house is incredible...everything is very high end.  well stocked and designed kitchen, big bedrooms, beautiful living room and incredible views from every room. The furniture is incredible..wood floors and stone throughout.  Most of the sun is on the Kona side and it was cool and rainy while we were there but that made the experience even more authentic.  Went to the volcano, green sand beach, black sand beach which are all a drive from both sides of the island.

Incredible house in the forest..Surreal experience

This is an amazing place to stay and I would highly recommend it. It is a beautifully furnished home in the middle of a rainforest with every conceivable thing you could possibly need. The views from every room are unbelievable. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked. Sharon greets you upon check-in and provides a tour of the home, along with a loaf of delicious banana bread. When we go back to Hawaii, we will stay here again.

Absolutely Amazing!

I have never stayed in a house so well furnished! They had everything we possibly needed and more. The house was very clean. The beds were very comfy! I didn't want to leave. The house and grounds were beautiful. We absolutely loved our stay here.
Although there were houses in the area, the grounds were so lush and beautiful, you wouldn't know you had neighbors. 
I would rent this house again if I have the opportunity to return to the Big Island!



Very well furnished!

If you are looking for a wonderful home to stay while visiting the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park area, look no further. My family of 5 (kids 16, 14, and 10) plus my mother had a fantastic time staying here. The home is beautiful, spacious, and relaxing. Every member of my family had their own space. The home is furnished so beautifully! Sharon greeted us with a warm welcome and gave us an introductory tour of the home (and a delicious loaf of banana bread that everyone speaks of). My favorite space is the back lanai! I could sit there for hours listening to the sounds of the rainforest. The home is stocked with any essential you can think of, including binoculars for the Kilauea Crater. My daughter left a stuffed animal behind, and Sharon was very prompt in replying and is mailing it back to us in NC. I would like to return to this beautiful area and would definitely stay at the Volcano Rainforest Lodge again. I recommend 3 nights at least, as our two night stay wasn't quite long enough.
