We booked this condo through Costco Travel, which included a standard size car from Costco. It was a 2 bedroom/2 bath with the view of the golf course and pool. It didn't disappoint. It was very spacious, clean, close to shopping and it was on the West  side of the big Island of Hawaii, so we had virtually no rain. We'd defiantly stay there again and book through Costco Travel

Big Island of Hawaii

If you think you are renting an “outrigger” property- you are not. Each unit at fairway villas is privately owned, which means some units are spectacular, while some are dated.  Hotels have pretty standard rooms, which means you are getting a level of service. When you rent from Outrigger at this resort, there is no guarantee. Better to rent from South Kohala at this resort as they are more transparent about which unit you are getting. Outrigger makes it seem like they own the place. They don’t.  They should not be allowed to advertise as if they own or control the property

The pros:
-Nice grounds. 
-Great location walking distance to shops, restaurants, the beach. 
-Nice kitchen in G3 - relatively recently renovated (last decade perhaps)

Cons:
-The condo was in old and bad shape overall (though kitchen was nice). We had unit G3 (ground floor) and the carpet was stained in the second bedroom, and paintwork in pretty bad condition. No cushions for outdoor metal chairs either.  Vents rusty and AC unit outside pretty loud and obviously on its last legs - pretty rusty. 
-No basic provisions. Just looking for some salt and pepper. Not a big deal but would have been nice. 

Summary: we have stayed here before 4 years ago and that unit was MUCH nicer so I think it really depends on the particular owner of the unit you get and what shape they keep their condo in. Ours was not good. 

A mixed bag

Even tho the place is large it has a very small private feel to it. Beautiful vegetation surround all the villas so they are not real visible . We were on the ground floor right on the golf course with a expansive view. Pool, and workout area was just 2minutes away.
We found a local fish market and used the grill area next to the pool. 6 or 8 immaculate grills available for your uses. Easy walk to Kings Court for shopping

Fantastic relaxing stay

We booked a 2 week/2 island vacation through Costco for our 20th anniversary. Fairwayway Villas was our home for the 2nd week of our adventure. After spending the first week living out of a suitcase in a hotel room, it was nice to spread out a little and have a closet and dresser. Also a huge plus to have a washer and dryer to use - this allowed us to pack light. The condo was clean and comfortable. We were in unit J2, which is a ground floor unit. If I stayed there again, I might want an upstairs unit. The people above us were walking around every morning by about 6 or 630am and must have been wearing hard soled shoes. Sounded like they were doing laps around their unit. This was not a huge issue for us, but something that I noticed. There was a centipede on the kitchen floor the first night, but my pre-trip research had prepared me for that possibility so I got rid of it and it was no big deal. The pool and hot tub were very nice, as was the grilling area. It was also nice having a designated parking spot (ours was a carport). Our patio faced the 4th fairway of the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course and we enjoyed watching the golfers in the morning while having our coffee. We ended up golfing that course, and liked it. It was nice being close to both the Queens and Kings shops, but we didn't spend much time there. I guess that the kitchen was well enough equipped, but we didn't use most of it. We only had a week so explore the Big Island, so we didn't spend much time sitting around the condo. There were a few games there, and we played scrabble late one evening. There was a monopoly game too, but it was missing pieces. We rented the unit as a one bedroom/one bath. It is actually a 2 bedroom/2 bath, but when you only book one bedroom, they just lock the other bedroom and bath. There were plenty of pillows and bath towels, and also 6 extra towels to use for the pool. These do not get replaced during your stay, but 6 pool towels for 2 people for a week is more than enough. It was hotter than usual while we were there. Mid 90's every day. We were told that opening the windows and door would let in a nice breeze and we wouldn't need the AC. This was not the case. We tried that and it was just way too hot. We felt the location was decent for exploring the island and we were able to get around quite easily. The Ironman World Competition was happening in Kona, so there were road closures one day. A lot of people were complaining about that, but it happens there every year and we were aware of it before we booked. I guess I don't understand not looking into area events before booking a trip. We enjoyed walking out to the highway to see the biking portion of the competition and later driving to Kona to be at the finish line. This is a resort area, so it is a little more expensive to eat and buy groceries. If we return to the Big Island, I would consider staying here again, but might stay farther south near Kona.

Nice Week at Fairway Villas

I was pleased with our condo rental at the Fairway Villas for 7 nights.  We had a one bedroom with a pull out couch so it slept 3 adults comfortably.  The condo was clean, spacious and had a nice little patio with outdoor furniture and a view of the Fairway Gold Course.  It was comfortably air conditioned,  had a full eat in kitchen, as a dining table for 6 and a bar/counter top with three chairs.  We had one bathroom with a  shower, tub, big walk in closet and private toilet area.  Only con was the bathroom was of the only bedroom so the individual who slept on the couch had to enter the bedroom to use the bathroom.  This could be for someone who didn't want anyone entering their room during their sleep if they needed to use the bathroom.  We had one toilet bowl issue and were accommodated quickly with by a maintenance person within 15 minutes of calling the office.  The only negative during out stay was the pool area was closed for renovations, which we were aware of and it reopened on the day before we left. We inquired about extra tables and chairs for a family get together and we were told we could be accommodated if needed.
The grounds were beautiful, the condo was close (within walking distance) as well as driving
distance to the rental office.  We were also very close, again within walking distance to two different shopping areas as well as the beach.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a little mini golf course on the way to the shopping area closest to the fairway villas.

First visit to Hawaii and the Fairway Villas

Booked our stay at the Waikoloa Fairway Villas with Vacasa and everything was fine until we went to use the swimming pool and hot tub but they were down for maintenance. This is the highlight of the property and was tauted on the Vacasa website. The maintenance man said Vacasa was notified months ago about this and he didn't know why renters were not told of this before renting. Vacasa offered me $72 back then $172 but I turned them both down because this was the reason we booked the place. No other properties were offered to change to either. Very disappointed.

THEY HAVE A GREAT POOL BUT YOU CAN'T USE IT

3 bedroom/ 2 bath - Unit I-34
Very comfortable for 4 adults - loved having a full kitchen. Ceramic tile throughout, cold A/C, & Tropical setting. The booking company called and texted several times to be sure we were happy and make sure we didn’t need anything. This complex was spotless for the 10 days we were there. The six Weber Gas Grills looked like they had never been used. No problems with parking at all. 

Great Choice

Our 2-bedroom/2-bath villa was super comfortable; really liked the place.  Enjoyed the pool, exercise facility, and outdoor BBQs; the villas are close to shops (Queens Shops and King's Shops) and great beaches (A-Bay; Manua Kea; Hapuna).

Perfect Condo

Our family stayed 5 nights in the Fairway Villas. It is a convenient location on the big island, but I would not stay there again. We reserved a 2 bedroom with a fold out sofa. After we checked in and received our keys (who still has actual keys!), we found our room did not have a fold out sofa. I called the office. The lady was very confused and said we had a sleeper sofa. I said we only had a bamboo love seat! She called housekeeping who said our condo's furniture was out for reupholstering. I asked for a rollaway bed or air mattress and was told they didn't do that. So my daughter slept on sofa cushions on the floor for 5 nights. Also the 2 beds we did have had horrible mattresses and pillows. The mattresses were hard as a rock and the pillows were worn out. It was a VERY uncomfortable 5 nights!
