Amazing classic motor lodge set back off the road amongst towering oak trees!  Only about one mile from downtown Wamego and all things Wizard of OZ.  I stayed in the OZ SUITE and it was incredibly detailed!  

CLASSIC MOTOR LODGE!  A+

I was tired of driving in the rain so the closest hotel was in Wamego at Simmer Motel. Little did I know that it was the home of "Dorothy". It was in a great location right next to a gas station. Close to the museum and other places of interest. 

Great Location

For the price I paid, I expected the basic run of the mill hotel, the outside of the hotel is plain, and something you would find on the side of the road for a quick break, need to rest situation. 
We were BLOWN away when we got in to our room, it was comfortable, clean, welcoming. I am not kidding.....We felt so relaxed in the room it was unbelievable. No noise, No problems, no nothing, It was the PERFECT get away to just relax. There were even pictures on the wall and decorations! Ive never stayed in a place that was so welcoming. The hotel is near a Dollar General, and a GREAT Mexican resturant that will serve to go margaritas and they are STRONG! no joke.....do not stay anywhere else but here if you are in the area.......Check in was easy, communication was superb. What a great place. 
We will be making this a once a month thing at this hotel because it is that great!

Beautiful

Cozy and clean, easy booking, no contact for the COVID conscious, smoking and non smoking available, microwave and refrigerator. Excellent beds so great sleep. Playground for the kids. Will stay every time I'm in this area!

Great stay, great rates!

Needed to attend a KState graduation but didn’t want to stay in the busy city of Manhattan KS.  Found the Simmer Motel online and liked how they have decorated each room differently.  They have implemented contactless checkin and checkout which I appreciated during Covid.  Our room was decorated so cute and it was immaculately clean.  The room was comfy, clean and very quiet.  Would definitely stay here again.

A perfect find

This was a great small town motel!  Super fast checking in and the room code is way better then a key or card!! The GM was extremely nice when he came over to the room as we where taking everything in the room for our stay! 

Great experience

There is no "Office", you're greeted by a printout with a bunch of information about booking your stay.
That part of the process was easy, it gives you and automatically generated key code for whatever room it (the system) assigns you.
That much worked fine for me, but whole IN the 1st room, I got a second text with booking info, a room #, a key code, etc.
I called the number on the door and was told the automated system "just decided" to switch our room (and deactivate our key code), so if we had left to go get dinner we wouldn't have been able to get back in to retrieve our belongings from that original room.
Keep in mind, that first phone number you contacted is not the only number the hotel will use to contact you.
I ended up with 4 different numbers saved in my phone as "Simmer Motel" and I still have no clue who/what was which number.
We ended up having to switch rooms a second time because even though the original room was great, the 2nd room the system decided to put us in was one of the oldest rooms and was not acceptable during 16° weather (insulation/heating issues).
The 3rd and final room, because we couldn't just go back to our originally room that we really liked, was a two room suite sorta set up with a sitting area (living room) and the bedroom separate.
Honestly if the system either left us in the original room, or had assigned us the 3rd room initially, I would've never had to text multiple numbers repeatedly over issues and asking for supplies and our stay would've been way more enjoyable.

Be patient.

It worked out just fine. It was nothing special but good enough. Traveled in for K-State game and was unwilling to pay the $400 a night they wanted in Manhattan so we went with this. Gave us the opportunity to visit the Oz museum too. Motel is nothing to write home about but as stated “it’ll do”

It’ll do

The door code we had been emailed didn't work on the door, we got there pretty late at night and there was no one in the office, we did get a new code via phone.  The bathroom in our room had obviously not been cleaned prior to our arrival and there was no toilet paper.....we didn't get any the entire time we were there even though we called and asked for some.  We never saw an actual person in the office either that night or the next morning on check out.  Do NOT "splurge" on this theme room......not worth it!

Not a good experience

We were given a code that didn't work to get into our room. We had to call. Our room ac didn't work due to other units running, we had to call and move rooms. Not super clean or homey, but we got a place to rest our heads. We went there particularly for a themed room and couldn't even stay in it. No offer to discount, just to change rooms. All in all, it's a place to rest and get back on the road.
