My BFF and I shared an accessible room with 2 Queen beds, a refrigerator and a microwave.  We had a large vanity area, which was perfect for 2 women sharing a space at the same time for grooming activities.  The hotel rooms had  individual heating and air condifioning units.

The hotel has done a major remodel since my last visit.
The exterior was well maintained and welcoming

The rooms were very clean and the decor was very welcoming.

Kudos for having a truly accessible room!  2 grab bars were available in the restroom and 2 in  the shower.

A person with a walker or wheelchair  could easily access 
the entire room. I have Parkinson's and on a good day I 
can walk without assistance.  On an off day I walk with my walking stick and steps are a real challenge because i have a difficult time lifting my feet.  No worries at the Harbor Inn Hotel!  They had a ramp from the accessible parking space, located directly outside our room, that went to the door of our room.  The ramp had a very light gradeation to it and no threshold to trip over.

We had a restful night and we were ready to face move--in day at my home in Freeland.

Harbor Inn Hotel, Freeland, WA (Whidbey Island)

Freeland is a small area on Whidbey Island, just off the highway.  The Harbor Inn is very easy to find and location is everything!  The room was very spacious and clean.  It had everything we needed, including a microwave and frig, and a table with two chairs we could sit at to eat our take-out dinner.  The hotel is located directly across the street from a very nice grocery store, and there is some other shopping in the area - basic needs like a pharmacy and a hardware store.  We would stay at the Harbor Inn again as the location was very good and our rate was reasonable.

Location, location, location

We went to Whidbey Island this summer for a family wedding taking place at the Fireseed venue. Between all of my family members and my husband and myself, we had 6 different rooms booked at this hotel.  The hotel is a reasonable distance to the venue and the rates "appeared" less than the hotels in other areas and Langley.  The hotel is nothing special but it is decent.  However, when we all arrived at various times and started to check in on the Friday before the wedding, all of a sudden not only did the price of the rooms differ from what our CONFIRMATIONS indicated, the price of the dog fee changed!  I have never in my life (and I'm old!) had room and pet fee charges at a hotel changed on me when I had a CONFIRMATION indicating the charges.  The manager running the place gave the reason for the rate change - two people instead of one person in a room...what??? I talked with the manager while making the reservations and on at least two different occasions in the months and weeks prior to our arrival and always talked about my husband and me coming, or my sister and her sons coming, my daughter and her husband, etc.  Why would she quote a rate and send a confirmation for one person occupancy? And there was a dog fee indicated on the confirmation and then she charges a higher rate?  We tried to argue with the manager but she just kept saying the rate was this and the pet fee was that and she'd better "talk to her people" to make sure they make reservations in the future for the correct amounts (IT WAS THE MANAGER I talked to when I booked, I can't speak for my family members).  She even tried to charge my son, who checked in later Friday night, the higher two-person rate than the rate indicated on his confirmation.  Thank goodness I warned him to make sure he disputed a higher rate if she tried -- he had to ask why the room was more and then tell her it was just him in his room!  Because we had 6 rooms and didn't want to jeopardize having a place to stay for the weekend, we felt we had no choice but to go along with her blackmail.  In addition, as I said, I called in the months and followed up in the weeks prior to our arrival as we asked about a dog sitter for the dogs that were coming with us (hotel is pet friendly and we wanted to bring the dogs and enjoy the beaches on Whidbey with them).  I asked her if she could recommend a pet sitter or should we just try the local area pet sitters or Rover.com?  The manager assured us she had hotel staff that would love the extra income and would be able to watch the dogs (a total of 3 dogs coming with all of us in the 6 rooms).  However, when we arrived, she flaked out on us with that too (imagine that) with wishy washy stories that one of her housekeepers quit or something and she didn't have anyone for us!  She refused to let us keep our dogs in one of the rooms during the wedding even though we told her they were all well-behaved dogs that spend a lot of time together.  We spent the entire Friday evening and Saturday morning before the wedding trying to call pet sitters but with the late notice none were available.  We had to take the dogs with us to the wedding and take turns sitting with them in one of our cars with the air conditioning running.  Totally put a damper on our celebration. This review is long overdue.  I honestly delayed on purpose as I wanted to make sure my credit card was no longer available for her fearing she would make up some bogus charge (like damage or theft) to pay me back for such a bad review!  Just got my new credit card so here it is! Also, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only review that has indicated changed rates so look back on previous reviews if you really are thinking about this hotel, and then think twice. If you decide to stay here expect the crazy manager may pad your bill and then argue with you about it when you call her out on it!  Maybe just save yourself some frustration and irritation and stay anywhere but here.

The worst hotel experience ever! Seriously...

Nice quiet place to stay on Whidbey Island. They are very clean rooms with the basic amenities, with local restaurants nearby and a supermarket across the street. Here on business for 2 weeks and definately would come back again in the area.

GREAT Value

We stayed at Harbor Inn while staying on Whidbey Island 2 nights on our way to Olympic National Park. The room was very big, clean and had a nice area with a refrigerator and microwave. Even though our room was on the first floor, it was quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately, our room was not serviced when we were there, but the situation was promptly corrected. Also, there are a couple of beaches nearby to visit, but it was very cool and cloudy the days we were there, so walks on the beach were shorter than we had hoped for.

Good location on Whidbey Island

We booked in the last minute, and arrived around noon, assuming rooms would not be ready. The proprietor, Sharon, was a delight at check in, and we got our rooms, which were spacious, clean and with very nice amenities. We spent 2 days and one night and wish we'd planned to stay longer. We were not far from anything on Whidbey Island, and the next morning at breakfast Sharon brought out maps to show our grand-kids where they'd been and where they were going. She was great with them and us. Breakfast was cereals and breads, which was just fine fir us to get us on our way. We will be coming back to the Island more in the future, adn thisis where we'll stay, for sure. 

Lovely hotel, near lots of things

My husband Bill and I have loved staying at the Harbor Inn over the last 4 years. We are treated like family and are always welcomed with open arms and smiling faces. We are often here from 2 weeks to a month twice a year. The rooms are large, comfortable and always clean. The staff are very professional and extremely helpful. Sharon, is the hotels new manager and she's fantastic!  We always look forward to our next visit.

Best on the Island!!!!!

We stayed two nights at Harbor Inn.  Excellent customer service; huge room on ground floor; quiet with parking just outside the room; grocery store just steps away as well as Rocket Taco.

We will definitely return!  Thank you for your kind hospitality.

Perfect for our travel purposes

Great location on Whidbey Island, especially since I'm there on business.  Excellent staff, rooms are always clean & comfortable.  Not one of the fancy hotel chains, but more than adequate for my needs.

Stay here often

Following the TripAdvisor rating, we booked @ the Harbor Inn and were not disappointed. From reservation to room prep to really good coffee to ALL the amenities we needed - this place is a gem. The owners actually work here too and do their best to make you feel welcome. You can spend over $300/night all over the island, but you will not find a better place to stay.
