Forget everything you have known about a well run, well maintained, clean hotel bc this place has never known any of it. This is the grossest hotel I’ve ever stayed in.  I almost asked for a refund upon first seeing my room and regret not doing so and then booking anywhere else.  To begin with there is either food or snot on the wall under the room number.  The pillows on the bed are about an inch thick.  I requested extra pillows and was given three of the smallest lumpiest excuses for a pillow that should have been thrown out a decade ago.  My TV remote stopped working and the tv was blasting volume while staff worked to reset it and finally did fix it after ten minutes.  The plugs built into the lamps do not work so I had to get behind the nightstand to plug into the wall which is when I saw the absolute filth on the floors behind the bed and furniture.  Left over trash from who knows how many guests ago.  The heat in my room doesn’t work.  It only blows cold air even with the thermostat set to 75 and heat.  The sheets and towels are worn out and stained.  The door to my room has clearly been pried open from the inside by a previous guest, no doubt trying to escape this excuse for a hotel.  Staff is kind but that does not make up with all the issues with this place.  Do not try to pour hot water in your cup from the coffee maker in the lobby because that doesn’t work either. Room looks over the hoarder / meth house by the parking lot.  Key cards only work upside down which is what this hotel should be…. Upside down and out of business.  Do not stay here!!!

Roaches won’t even stay here

Very friendly, clean and James is a wizard at his job and can help you find almost anything to replace what you left at home. This place is as close to home as it gets. The free breakfast hits the spot in the morning and they are just a quick walk or drive to stores and restaurants that can provide your every hearts

Home away from home

Check in, I made previous reservation on line, all went well. Went to room and no coat hangers, wood floor had some obvious damage, ice bucket was missing lid, and floor had small particles on it and a stain. When I told them about missing coat hangers the immediately gave me six, which was nice. They never provided replacement plastic cups even though the initial 4 were being used and thrown away.

From the name I was expecting more

I wanted a location closer to the airport, but not pay the higher price required by the hotels there.  Your DeMoines location was thrifty - and the staff was very nice. Your hotel was clean and very adequate. It was simple, but my goodness, the price, and location were perfect.

quick stay

We stayed in this hotel only overnight.Our room was clean,smell good and everything was O.K. No breakfast, so we had one in the nearby Mc Donalds.  Our car rental Escape Campervans was right next door. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

One night stay

booked Red Lion Inn Des Moines because the rooms looked amazing online and I could use flyer miles. We were heading to a dog show and needed dog friendly rooms close to the show grounds. The room was big and the staff friendly, but the rest was truly terrifying. The hotel has 2 parking lots. The back is pretty dark and sketchy, and the front is small with narrow spaces. We were lucky to squeeze in front all nights.  We were told there was security on staff from 6pm to 6am, but only saw him 2 of the non busy nights. 

We had to walk our dogs in the back lot as there is no grass except in the back. Even in  daylight, it was an experience. During our 4 day stay, we witnessed open drug use (I am not talking weed) every single day. We saw what appeared to be overt drug deals in front of the main office, as well as behind the building. People were allowing homeless/vagrants/addicts in the back door each night. There were bags of people’s personal belongings in hallways outside of the doors. Several young women who appeared to be sex workers and strung out came and left frequently each day. Some  of these girls were seen in the office. We witnessed one young lady dressing at about 8 am in front of the office, blocking herself with an umbrella. One girl joked with me as I entered my  room that it was her room. When we arrived, there was an ashtray in the room despite it being a non smoking hotel. Our room smelled like incense and the hallway smelled of cigarettes. Our freezer was stocked with someone else’s dinner (frozen corndog).  There was a man  who was greeted by a suspected prostitute by the back dumpster. She handed him something and then let him in the back door carrying what appeared to be a hardshell box (for gun/drugs?) She then left. Another guy was shooting some type of pellet gun at the sign in the morning. We were seriously the only non sketchy looking clients the entire weekend. The staff was very nice but were absolutely oblivious to the situation even when we told them our concerns. On a plus, the bed was comfortable and the towels were clean and fluffy. We did have to borrow pliers to adjust the AC unit and there was no turntable in the microwave. 

We liked the room size and bed but definitely will not be booking again.

Terrifying!

I booked a room through Expedia a month in advance. The night I was going to check in, I called at 11pm to ask if it'd be okay if I check in to the room at 2am and was told no problem. So I show up and the lady behind the desk was incredibly rude and unapologetic about the fact that THEY GAVE AWAY MY ROOM! Everywhere else around was full, so I just ended up driving four hours all through the night until I made it home. Couldn't they have at least called and asked before giving away my room? Just ridiculous. I will never stay at a Red Lion again.

Rude with bad energy night shift front desk attent no hospitality what so ever from her no breakfast no phone in some rooms I had to stay a week and had to change the room several times due to the Incompetent dirty rooms some without phoned none with basic accommodations this is gutter don't waste your money

Bait and switch

Older hotel but in good value near SeaTac.  Look for 2nd floor rooms they are better shape.  Will stay again next time visit family in Seattle.  Lots of restaurants within 10 minutes of the hotel. Close to Seatac

The first floor is a smoking floor. The 2nd floor is the main level.  They do not have a pool or hot tub. The shower is super tiny and has a door you close to shower.  The door opens  easily while you are showering making for a wet floor. The alarm clock did not work. The mini frig was a nice size but had a tiny freezer compartment. The parking spaces are way too narrow.  The breakfast was cereal, toast and juice.  But the room was clean.
