Yes; to echo many of the recent comments.   The place has definitely gone downhill.  And I used to frequent it quite a bit.  There is a shabbiness to it; and   they seem to rely on inexperienced family-help for the maintenance, room-preparation, and kitchen-area.  One horrible example: I get there in the late-evening.  Try to get my sleep, with checkout at 11AM.   In the 6:30-7AM time-frame, I hear and actually feel a tremendous vibrating, grinding noise.  They are working outside on the roof, about 6 feet from my face!   (The manager later claimed they were beginning work at 9 AM.  Nonsense! And he was not even there at the time).  I understand they wanted to get their roof work done on a nice day, but they SHOULD NOT HAVE LET A PAYING CUSTOMER HAVE A ROOM RIGHT BELOW THEIR GRINDING EQUIPMENT).    Atrocious.  I told the manager; and he generally could not care less.   He eventually offered me a pittance as a discount - enough for a few cups of coffee at Starbucks.   I continued to pursue the matter, and eventually got relief from the parent company for the Super 8 franchise:  Wyndham.   That customer service operation apologized for this franchisee's behavior, and effectively provided me with credit for another Wyndham property .  But this left me with a bad taste.  Also, to echo another customer's comment:  I hate to say it, but they do have some shady people in the rooms.   the place may be convenient for I-95 travelers, but is not convenient for most Rhode Island locations.  If you had no other choice or economic alternative, you can stay here, but it's beset by careless, cheap management.  Silly business-behavior:  they could have made me whole by refunding one night's stay of less than $150, but they got cheap and stubborn, and with these types of numerous comments and reviews, they will lose some future customers, and will also lose much more than that small amount of money, in future business.  Again, hats-off to the Wyndham Corporation folks, but that company should think twice about being connected with this type of franchise.    

Bad Management and Declining Quality

One would think if you paid for hotel accommodations, one would recieve actual accommodations. No, not in the least.
This business feels you are merely paying for the four walls and a place to sleep only.

Mini soap, hair shampoo, etc, No

You have to walk to the front desk & ask for anything you need yourself. 
Last I checked, that's not how a hotel works.
Do not for one moment think you will receive fresh towel at all, and I mean AT ALL. They literally do not have enough towels to properly run this hotel. My family should not be drying up with bath mats! 

I suggest everyone read the past reviews from over the Summer on TripAdvisor, as this site only allows the last 5 reviews. The reviews are pretty bad..  



When you think it couldn't get worse

Lots of noise from outside and the room next to us was smoking marijuana in their room strong odor in our room.  Looked like people were living in the rooms full time junk by the door of some of the rooms

An honest and accurate description of a recent stay at The Super 8 hotel in West Greenwich, Rhode Island located at 101 Nooseneck Road, West Greenwich, Rhode Island.   

I didn't expect much from a Super 8, but I never expected the God-Awful, disgraceful hot mess that is this hotel. Super 8 and Wyndham should be ashamed of having this property associated with their name.   

Upon check-in, we were directed to a room to which you enter from the parking lot.  This room reeked of chemical insecticide and disinfectant.  The bathroom was painted in a deep dark color, somewhat like a black hole, so that there was barely any light in the room.  The bathroom accessories were all ripped out of the wall. The air was rank and we left at once to return to the front desk.  

We were then offered a second room, with an interior entry, on the second floor.  We checked out the room prior to agreeing and felt it was somewhat less objectionable.  That insecticide odor was there, but at least the bathroom accessories were intact.  We agreed to stay mainly because this is where our traveling companions were also staying.  Their room Was much better outfitted, same odor, but more modern. I somehow cannot help but think that two customers paying the same money for the same room type should have equally good rooms, but that is a digression and distraction at this point.  

Taking a little tour of the facility I noticed some of the amenities.  Such as a coffee can at the entrance to each outdoor room for cigarette butts.  
A lovely view in the back if the septic tank access portals, and in front, of a marshaling area for road crews and other large storage.  The access road is in horrible condition.   

Other things caught the eye such as the pile of garbage bags strewn outback, and the overflowing garbage cans at the front of the hotel entrance.   When looking through the room we accepted, my first concern, was the pattern on the bathtub walls.  I wasn't sure if it was a pattern or a feeble attempt at wiping blood off the walls. Frankly, I am not sure even now.  However, after the first shower I did get to practice my plumbing skills, since the water would not drain.  I managed to unclog the drain from hair and a gelatinous substance I chose not to examine closely. The tub however had a dip in the center, and never fully drained after a shower.

I gave a close examination of the sheets on the bed.  They were stained, but seemed to be clear of bedbugs.  Looking at the mirror hanging on the bathroom wall, I noticed it was crooked, and then I looked up, you should never look up, the exhaust fan was caked in dust.  
Giving the room an even closer look, I also noticed points on the wall where something was ripped off leaving exposed unpainted splotches. Also observed a wall outlet without a cover plate.  

Upon leaving the hotel the following morning for activities, the desk clerk informed us that there'd be no housekeeping service that day, she said the clerk That checked us in should have told us this, but she, is the only one who knows anything, and no, there were no fresh towels available either.  I did have an opportunity to eyeball their laundry room and couldn't help noticing their washer was terribly overloaded.  The next day, we were told at the front desk, they couldn't guarantee us fresh towels again, but offered an additional roll of toilet paper.  

My rating for this location is: Avoid at all costs.

Super 8 Hotel West Greenwich, Rhode Island - Avoid at All Costs

Our experience was a disastrous bait and switch. We paid an astonishing $258 for a non-smoking, disabled accessible room with two queen size beds, and got a room that reeked of smoke, was totally inaccessible — with multiple steps to enter and a bathtub without grab bars — and two full (not queen) beds. It was also dark, grimy and looked like it had last been refurbished around 1995.

The very nice staff was apologetic and did the best they could — explaining it was the last available room, and there were no options anywhere on the property or even the surrounding area. They sprayed Febreze to counteract the smoke smell and gave us a hand with the steps, but overall I was horrified — and after 30 years of staying at Super 8s, I never will again.

Terrible and deceptive

Great hotel and just have completed renovations. The room was super clean and the bed so comfortable. 
Hotel staff so kind and helpful to me. 
Has a breakfast offering with egg patty l. Great value for sure 

Temporary housing

If you are going to stay for more than three days ask about their amenities.  We stayed for 10 days and only had maid services once. We had to take out our own trash and buy our own toilet paper and Kleenex.  The new owner eliminated most of the breakfast, now you can only get stale toast or English muffins. There his no meat included and can only get pre cooked egg pucks.  We lost TV for over a day with it not being repaired.  We also had a water leak in the bathroom that never got repaired we had to soak the water up with towels then had to go to the office to get more as we did not have any maid service to bring fresh towels. I do not recommend this hotel.

Hotel nightmare

Rooms were spacious and clean. Location was quiet and accessible to everything. Staff was friendly and helpful.  I slept well so I was able to tackle the things I needed to accomplish during my stay. I’d recommend this to friends. 

Excellent

Great place to stay. The breakfast is very good. I love the lady the makes the breakfast, She made us feel at home. The location was close to all the mayor reastaurants and shopping centers. The most inportant is the affortable price.

Great Place to Stay

Great updated rooms. We spend our 4 nights at super 8 by Wyndham. Everything was up to mark along with great service from all staff that works in it. The breakfast was regularly topped and of course 24 hour coffe. Great service great deal along with location.
