Great food and very friendly staff not to mention the amazing view make this a very popular destination so they book up fast. The servings were generous with no room left for desert we decided to go back in a couple of weeks for just dessert and wine 😁

Make your reservations early!

We had a wonderful stay. Perfect location. Holly helped us with everything including booking of ferry tickets. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the two days we were there. Their menu looks excellent.

Highly recommended

Great room and view!  This inn is very cute with pleasant rooms overlooking the water.  The owners stocked snacks, coffee and there is an electric fireplace we used on a cold and rainy evening. The Keurig died our first morning and they immediately replaced it for us. A quiet location just a 10 minute drive to town.

Charming & comfortable!

So enjoyed our meal here ! Must get- the duck mouse. Service spot on and nice details like delicious chocolates and chef special app. Portions are well sized! Wines are well chosen. Speaks of thought in presentation!

Wonderful in many ways

On a very rainy night in mid-September, we were fortunate enough to score a reservation at the Kingfish Café in Westsound on Orcas Island.  It was a real treat for the chef to come visit with warm savory madeleines and have him describe some of his favorites on the current menu, which changes seasonally with the local abundance on the island.  For example, he noted the scoop of sweet-potato and Pisco sorbet on top of the ceviche, a turn on ceviche from Lima, Peru where he spent 7 years. He also suggested the warm cornmeal encrusted fried green tomato with a not-too-spicy remoulade and the creamy duck liver mousse, accompanied with rich oiled toasts and fresh greens. For the mains, we enjoyed the steak frites (hand cut frites), the unusual sablefish salad, and especially the handmade pappardelle with mushroom ragu. The mushrooms were, of course, local.  If you don’t want to have any of their excellent wine choices, the Kingfish actually features two house made shrubs, which make for a refreshing aperitif sans alcohol.  The entire meal was served by our excellent waiter and we eagerly wait a return to the Kingfish.

Appetizers-grilled (burnt) bread and madeleines with oil and vinegar, a combination that didn’t work
Entrees-wiener schnitzel-inappropriately large portion which covered almost the entire plate, including salad and potatoes, an unappetizing presentation. Also unappetizing in its presentation was the beef filet entree-a tasty, well-prepared cut that was overwhelmed by a plate covered with French fries and a very salty portion of creamed kale and spinach.

Disappointing

The room was impeccable and well thought out. Great view of the marina from our room. Quiet and comfortable. The only thing that was somewhat frustrating was not being able to park when we wanted to due to restaurant guests. I understand based on the location the challenge with parking. Just a little frustrating when you have traveled all day and want to  to park by your room and chill. The first night we got lucky that someone was leaving as we were unloading. The second night we had to park on the main road and wait for the restaurant to close so we could move our car to the lot before bed. Holly was super responsive to questions during our stay. Food smelled great, we did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant during our stay.

Informal check-in process which made things super easy. Great view of bay from the window. Plenty of windows which opened so you could enjoy the nighttime sounds and the cooler air. Nice selection of teas, coffees, and snacks. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Didn't hear noises from the other rooms or guests. Really friendly owner (I met the one who is also the chef). Peaceful surroundings. Will absolutely stay here again.

Stellar stay

Had a wonderful quick trip to Orcas last week - I hadn't' been before and wasn't totally sure on lodging, but i'm so glad that I chose KingFish Inn.  The check in process was contactless and the easiest I've ever had. The room was fantastic (and that VIEW!) and the complimentary snacks was a bonus after being in my car all day!  I was lucky enough to sneak into the restaurant without a reservation (highly suggest making one!) and the meal was PHENOMENAL. Chef Raymond came around more than once when I was eating to see how everyone was. The food was some of the best i've had in a long time.  This is a great location to stay as well, with less than 10 min to the ferry.  I will definitely be back!

Inn AND amazing restaurant? Sign me up!

We stayed here recently in the Alder suite. The place has a great location, near some great hikes in Turtleback mountain and not far from Eastsound. The place was perfect. It has great views and great food. Holly and Raymond were so nice and helpful.
