The Turnpike Motel is an awesome little motel for solo travelers and even couples. I was traveling solo with some friends on motorcycles across the beautiful state of West Virginia and stumbled across this little motel. There are at least 3 restaurants/diners a short walk from the motel. I would definitely stay here again!

Awesome Motel for Little Money!

Turnpike Motel is one of the cutest and cleanest places I have ever stayed. The staff is very helpful, and owner is a very nice man.  The lady at the front desk is very helpful. We stayed for several days and rode our bikes all over on some of the most beautiful roads ever by the owner’s recommendation for he rides as well.  When we got back our rooms where clean and towel restocked. Will come back every year.

cleanest place i have ever stayed

This is a great example of a non-chain family run motel that is well maintained, clean and comfortable. The service was good. The only drawback was that the pillows were a bit hard. When it comes to motels of this kind, the Turnpike Motel is a good place to stay.

Clean and Well Maintained

Our stay at the Turnpike Motel was very nice.  We were greeted immediately upon arrival by a very friendly young lady.  Our room was clean and comfortable.  There was a nice breakfast restaurant right next door, although the name escapes me.  Very friendly staff and reasonably priced breakfast.  If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here again.

Nice place

The housekeeper xan was amazing. All the staff was excellent and so kind. Bed was super comfy and the rooms are beautiful. Very clean and well kept. Overall 10/10 would stay again. Being on churches the staff was amazing and extremely helpful!

Amazing service and excellent place

We stayed 3 nights. After reading the reviews for some of the other local chain hotels I took a chance, booked our first motel stay, and saved myself a lot of money. Everyone seemed shocked we stayed there but it was fine. Area seemed quiet for being off a busy road and not a lot of foot traffic. We didn’t need a swimming pool and with the money we saved we could eat a nice breakfast at Dollys Diner and still save money. Glad I kept my money local and stayed here. The woman that checked us in was sweet. Even let us check in a little early. The room was clean. No signs of bugs, no weird smells, etc. The whole motel has been renovated. TV worked and we were able to watch some football in passing. We had 1 queen bed. It did feel a little dated. We always travel with our own pillows and I’m glad we did. Theirs was small but we could have asked for more. House keeping girls were friendly. Room had mini fridge with freezer, microwave and coffee pot. AC worked ok. Motel is down the road from Walmart and really a quick drive or even walk to some local restaurants. This will be our new go-to spot when we are in town. 

Clean, Pleasant stay

We accidentally booked a motel up the road, that was so disgusting we wouldn't stay there.   Enter Turnpike motel, the motel we meant to book (stayed Fri/Sat, Aug 18 and 19).   It's our second stay, both were great!   Room was clean, and they had extra pillows, a hair dryer and iron at the front desk.  AC  kept the room super cold, how we like it!   Bonus was the clerk. She was darling!   Very accommodating,  friendly, with a great sense of humor.  She's a great asset to the business !

Clean motel, friendly staff

When I am out on a motorcycle ride I am not looking for a “fancy” hotel to stay the night.  My wishes are simply a clean room, a comfy bed and safe surroundings.  A restaurant and/or bar within walking distance is a nice bonus.  With hotel prices having typically doubled in the last few years, the premium for a brand name hotel has become significant, but many independents have become the worse for wear. 

This is emphatically NOT the case with this hotel.  It’s a classic courtyard motel, and even as you approach you are struck by how clean and well presented it is.  The lady in the office was a delight, and the room was lovely, and looked like it was recently redecorated.   Fast internet as well.  A diner a couple of blocks in one direction and a bar in the other completed the picture.  And the best part - only $84 a night.

Great little independent Motel

If you want a place to spend the night with your car parked right outside your door, then this is PERFECT!  Kudos to the newly remodeled rooms!  Rooms were small, but very adequate!  Very clean, all necessities provided, American owned and the sweetest and accommodating staff member checked us in!  Air- conditioner cooled the room quickly even with it being VERY hot on the day we arrived!  Nice benches outside along the walkway where you could sit and enjoy the evening.  Very safe and so easy to get to from I-77!  Lots of restaurants right across the highway too!   Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again!

Best little gem in Princeton, WV to spend the night!!!

Room was clean, and had all the amenities you would want for a reasonable rate. Recently renovated rooms.
Motel employees were friendly and helpful. Family owned and operated which makes it extra nice.
Would plan to stay here again.
