We were desperate, coming out of the park without a reservation at 9:20 pm and showing visibly limited choices. Grabbed it unfortunately for $289 on a Tuesday night. Ancient beyond belief! If we weren't desperate, we'd have left. Old, dated, hair in shower sidewall and old brown shaggy carpet... lesson learned and the TV didn't work. Worst experience I've had in years of traveling abroad! 😬😵‍💫😩

Bad experience but at least we had a room. 

We arrived late around 11:15 p.m.  Knowing he office closed around 10:00 I called to let them know and the office staff waited for us to arrive and then took time to tell us about road closures and other helpful information about Yellowstone.  We appreciated the thoughtfulness of the staff.  Our room was clean and quiet.

I went into our stay not expecting to be blown away, but I was. We were nervous about the accommodations, but as soon as we walked into our room, we knew we made a great decision to stay here. The room was very spacious, VERY clean, and recently remodled. Mattresses were very comfortable. Location is perfect for getting into Yellowstone.  We were there on a VERY busy July 3rd, and the line to get into the park was extremely long by 7:30am. Because of the location, we were able to skip a good portion of the traffic. The one thing that I was not a fan of was the lack of vending machines. You are supposed to be able to get coffee or water from the neighboring Mobile gas station, but it did not open until 7am. The amount of foot traffic trying to get stuff from the gas station was plentiful starting around 6am. Regardless, we will highly consider, and recommend, this family run motel for our next visit to Yellowstone.

Pleasantly Surprised!!

This was the best motel! Entire site has been completely remodeled, room was super clean and cozy, plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and it is located right outside the entrance to Yellowstone! We would 100% stay here again!

Best place to stay for a visit to Yellowstone

Perfect room, comfy bed, internet and tv slow but you had them. No access to check in before 4:00. No one is anywhere at all until 4. There wasn't a single car in the parking lot which made me think no one booked there. Nope! Everyone was at Yellowstone all day. 🤪

If you want an overpriced hotel near Yellowstone National Park, then this is your place. We stayed here two night in a row while visiting Yellowstone and we wish we had picked a different hotel.

The hotel is close to the west gate of Yellowstone, but West Yellowstone is so small that we could have driven from a "further away" location easily.

The issues were:
-No housekeeping so after a long day at Yellowstone we came back to a unmade bed and all of our dirty towels. We were later told you have to request daily cleaning.

-Free coffee for hotel guests at the gas station next door, but they did not have lids for the coffee cups. They also did not have certain types of cream and sugar, but for us the lid was the important part because we were taking the coffee in our rental car.

-No telephone in the room

-No hairdryer in the room. You have to ask for it at check in which was another thing no one told us. We found out after our showers so we had to walk through the parking lot with wet hair and wait for someone to come to the front desk so we could "sign out" a hairdryer.

-The rooms are in dire need of renovation. Really sad furniture and bedding.

-No parking space in the lot either night we stayed, so we had to park on the street.

-Other people's cars park right outside your window and when they start their cars for an early morning departure you will be awoken. We were.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Yellowstone National Park.
The decor was 50's style and quaint with nice vintage artwork.
Location was great, could walk to a number of restaurants, shops etc, plus it is close to sightseeing and entrance to park.
Reception staff were friendly at check in.
Shower was good for pressure and warmth. Room had it's own kitchenette, but were were perplexed why they give you a note with motel rules saying no cooking in the rooms??
Check in was not 4pm - a bit late.
No tea, coffee in room or at reception Also no ice machine on site. 
For tea, coffee or ice you were told to had to walk to the service station next door.
We found the bed really hard and high off the ground. Also the pillows looked and felt as old as the motel as did the sheets. So we did not sleep well here. Also it was very noisy with other guests and cleaners making early loud noises and the rooms were very poor for sound insulation being an older place.
Bathroom was cramped, had no place to put toiletries and lacked an exhaust fan so only way to vent was to open a window which allowed people from outside to see in- so not ideal.
Not many TV channels available to watch.
Only one side of bed had a bedside table so we had to drag a chair there.
For the price you pay per night here you would expect more.

Average 2 night motel stay in West Yellowstone.

This is our third visit to Al’s but it’s been a year since our last visit. It was our first night of a two week Fall Foliage trip. We did not go into the Park. Al’s is nothing much to look at, plus it’s just the basics. BUT it’s right around the corner from the entrance plus you can walk around the other corner to shops and restaurants. Do not stay there if you want more than the basics. Since we are hardly in our room when we are there to visit Yellowstone, a comfy bed and hot shower is all we need.

Stayed here in July 2021 and it was not worth the $225 for the room which was very average to say the least.  No elevator and no coffee in the room or the lobby.  Free coffee at the gas station next door. The room was clean but old and smelled. I would not stay here again.

Not great

This hotel is very deceiving. Don't let the looks from the outside fool you as the rooms have been remodeled. Rooms are clean. Employee is accommodating. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect score is the wood work on outside needs some work but that being said I would stay here again and recommend others.

Great location near Yellowstone.Walking distance to downtown locate near west park entrance.
