Stayed a Friday night on our way to the Badlands.  Yes the room was a little outdated.  Yes the bathroom was outdated.  But neither of those matter to us.  The price was right for sure at under $50.  My wife likes a firm bed and I like a softer bed so I slept very well.  Shower was hot with very good water pressure.  Wish my home toilet had the flushing power of the room toilet. Nighttime was quiet even with an almost full parking lot and being next to the interstate. Parking lot was nicely lit, a biggie for me.  Manager/owner was very nice and let us know that the town shut down by 9pm if we wanted dinner.  Of course the gas station next door was 24 hours, perfect for snacks and morning coffee.   Would definitely stay here again.

September 30th

Old and dated like others mentioned.  But very clean overall.  Was also pretty quiet there.  Stayed one night on our way to Sturgis this year.  Price was good for what you got.  Gas station was right there so late night snacks and early morning fuel was easy to get.  Every place in the town however, rolls up at 9 pm.  arbys was the only thing we found to be open at 9pm.

In april of 2017 my wife booked four hotel rooms with “West Winds Motel” (1756 S. Street, Wheatland, WY 82201, 307-331-8074 ,  at $95.00 per room totalling $380.00. On the night of 8/18 after arriving in Colorado, my wife received a phone call around 9pm from a motel attendant (young man’s voice) informing her the motel had “overbooked” and they would were cancelling our reservation. They offered no answer when asked how they decided to choose us for cancellation. We were upset, of course, because every hotel/motel in the path of totality was booked solid for this event and this left us twisting in the wind. We both spoke with him on the phone, and the conversation became heated when he spoke with me. I asked if he would stand for the airfare from Maryland and he angrily replied “would I pay to keep his hotel afloat?”, and that it was “going into receivership in three months”. I couldn’t find any logic in cancelling already booked rooms if the motel was going broke. The only solution that made sense was that they were selling their rooms multiple times for the same day(s).

OVERBOOKED FOR THE ECLYPSE

My son found this place to stay during the total solar eclipse.  The room was filled with flies.  Two of the three lamps were missing their lampshades.  Both smoke detectors were missing but the back piece was still on the ceiling and the other on the wall.  We had no choice but to stay because nothing else was available.  I know - I tried!!  The owner said we couldn't run two things at the same time because we would blow a fuse.  I totally agree.  The cords for the A/C unit, microwave, TV, frig, desk lamp were all on the same outlet.  Looked like spaghetti.  

We went to the local store and purchased a bug bomb, plastic sheets, linens, pillows, fan to air out after the bug bomb.  No working windows.  We did not take our luggage in.  We would not even take a shower in the place.  I contemplated staying in the car!

Then there's the cat lady.  I think she may be the cleaning lady.  At least 4 cats and 3 kittens lived in her room at the corner.  One of the cats is very mangy and missing an eye.  I saw another cat take a dead mouse into her unit.  

This is unhealthy and unsafe.  A total fire and death trap!   The one rating is only because there is no zero or negative.

What a dump!

Hotel was old and room was not very clean, carpet was really stained. The room was in a corner of the building and very poor outside lighting. Lots of extended stay guests working in the area with their grills,trampolines,etc scattered outside. The room door had the old kind of door knob with a key and was not secure at all, plus the deadbolt did not work. We paid for the room but left because it didn't feel safe.  Went to Motel 6 across the street!
