Had the most awesome 70th birthday celebration with friends at the Rabbit Hill Inn!  The accommodations were lovely, the staff wonderful, especially Hugo, who was very helpful and knowledgeable!  We had great conversations with him!  The breakfasts were great and the dinner excellent!  Can’t forget to mention the afternoon tea, awesome!  Would like to go back again next year!  Loved it!

A wonderful place to stay!

We’ve enjoyed our stays at the Rabbit Hill Inn the last several years. Brian and Leslie were fabulous innkeepers and the new team running the beloved inn are doing a fantastic job.

The inn has undergone some changes including a new restaurant name and a return original features including the beautiful wide plan floors now on full display! The menu holds true to the incredible meals we have come to enjoy with a new chef and a new spin on classics.

We enjoyed meeting new staff members and learning about their journeys. 

Change isn’t always easy, but when done with respect for the heritage and innovation to keep current, it’s a great thing.

We look forward to returning many more times. We absolutely loved the music room!

Another Fabulous Stay at the Rabbit Hill Inn!!

We are long time visitors to Rabbit Hill Inn; it was recommended by my mom around the time that we got married in 1990.  From that first visit, we fell in love with the place.  The property, the atmosphere, the food, and the service – all extraordinary.  Over the years, the inn has seen changes, from ownership, to chefs, to décor.  But to us, it has retained its charm, its warmth, its heart, and soul.  There is a new ownership group (the third in our history with the inn).  There is sadness seeing the previous owners retire, but there is also adventure in seeing how the new owners will carry on.  Upon arrival, we met Hugo on the front porch, and were greeted with genuine warmth.  He stayed true to that first impression, as he became our pal for the whole stay, and he joined us frequently in conversation, or for a late-night cocktail at the pub.  Kate also figured prominently, as she was the friendly face of the inn management.  Always there to take care of whatever was needed, but in an unobtrusive way.  She even gave us a tour of the inn, noting special historic features, and even showing off rooms and spaces that we even know where there!  Beyond Hugo and Kate, everyone we encountered was professional, friendly, genuine, and warm – exactly as it should be.  While we will dearly miss the previous owners, I believe the new ones will carry on the tradition of Rabbit Hill Inn, while making it uniquely their own.

On this trip, we traveled with close friends, so we were a party of four.  The inn did a great job keeping us together; all our meals were arranged for 4.  In the public spaces, Hugo and staff would rearrange furniture so we had space to sit and talk, or work on a puzzle.

The property is fabulous and has a quaint charm that is unique compared to other inns.  We stayed in the 1795 House, immediately adjacent to the main building.  The separation is nice, as you can escape the bustle if you choose.  The public spaces are classic old New England with wide pine floors, historic trim, and fireplaces galore.  There are many comfortable seating areas to gather with friends (or make new ones), or to curl up with a book in solitude.  In the past, some rooms and spaces were renovated with a more modern flair, but it seems that the new owners are reverting to the more classic décor.  This we love, as we live in an old home and feel that there is nothing warmer than that old house feel.  Our room was spacious with a king-sized bed, and a generous sitting area (for 4) in front of a gas fireplace.  We chose to enjoy this with our friends one afternoon.

The food has always been a big part of our decision to visit Rabbit Hill Inn; it has been consistent and exceptional on all our visits.  This time around, dinner was excellent as usual, with a nice variety of entrees, all expertly prepared.  I will note that there was often a “game entrée” for the more adventurous, featuring venison, pheasant, duck, etc., but that was not in the offering this time around.  I do miss that and look forward to seeing it return.  Our dinner servers were engaging, efficient and professional, and brought just the right amount of banter and humor to our meals.  Breakfast offerings were creative and delicious, and quite different day to day.  The breakfast buffet featured fresh fruits and baked goods but was somewhat less expansive than in years past.  In my opinion, this is fine as the main breakfast offering is more than enough!  As a gluten free person, I must give a nod to the kitchen staff, who prepared unique GF breakfast and afternoon pastries each day for me.  A very nice touch.

Some things have changed, and we were curious to understand why.  For example, there used to be a turn down service at night.  After dinner and upon returning to your room, there would be soft music playing, candles lit, chocolate on your pillow, and the bed turned down.  It was puzzling at first when this did not happen, but we asked.  It turns out that the code does not allow these things any longer, and that the previous owners were “grandfathered in”, allowing them to do it.

Also, the inn features Stave puzzles as an activity option in public spaces.  If you don’t know what this is, look it up online.  If you are a fan of jigsaw puzzles, then these are the holy grail; there is nothing like these handcrafted wood, totally original puzzles.  They were always available for the guests to take at will, but now there was a sign indicating that you needed to check them out from the office.  Unexpected, but again we inquired.  The new rule was due to theft, for which we were shocked.  Based on the arrangement with the Stave Company, they needed to control the flow of the puzzles.  Makes sense to us, and we gladly checked out our puzzle.

Some of the other reviews here indicate frustration and dissatisfaction, but in these times when the world is under a rapid state of change, we choose to roll with it.  We believe that Rabbit Hill Inn is entering a new era, and there will be bumps, but will ultimately persevere.  We will be back, as there is really nothing like the Rabbit Hill Inn anywhere! Excellence at Rabbit Hill Inn

The Rabbit Hill Inn was so cozy and everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was fabulous - delicious home cooked breakfasts and we had an amazing dinner - the halibut was to die for. 
There were so many places to sit by the fire, have a cup of tea or glass of wine and chat with your friends, that it was hard to choose.
Our room was spacious, the jacuzzi tub indulging and the in room fireplace hot the spot. Hugo was so funny and friendly and our waiter for breakfast was so accommodating and friendly too. You should go!

Cozy Vermont Getaway with dear friends

First time at the Inn and it was wonderful. We’re big travelers so we know good things and this is one of them. Just what we needed! Everyone was wonderful and eager to help. Our room was amazing! Breakfast was great not sure how they make those pancakes but it was the best I’ve ever had. Hugo was very helpful when we checked in helping carry everything upstairs. He’s a great bartender and super friendly! Mackenna was our waitress and was amazing, service was great. We’ll definitely be back!

AMAZING!

First time here, but won’t be the last.  You are immediately made to feel at home and welcomed.  Pastries and tea on arrival…not expected.  Relaxing lounge and bar area.  Wonderful evening menu.  Room was extremely clean, with thoughtful extras such as chocolates and Elemis travel sizes in bathroom.  Nothing to fault, impeccable on every level.

Amazing food, ambience and staff.

Perfectly appointed room, updated accommodations, luxurious amenities and a very friendly staff who make you feel like you matter. Massage by Amanda was wonderful. The dining—oh my! Fun to enjoy cocktails at the intimate Snooty Fox bar, play darts and get to know others staying at the Inn. Sad to see the previous owners departing, but happy to have met Brian and Leslie prior to their departure.  Their warmth, attention to detail and love for this beautiful Inn are woven through every fabric of this home. Hopeful the new owners will continue to provide an amazing and personal experience. 

Luxurious relaxation

A+++. We rarely go to the same place twice, but we have been here FOUR times. Absolutely awesome. Kudos to Leslie and Brian and the staff. Gold star. The food is delicious, and everyone is super friendly. It’s a VERY relaxing experience. They attend to every detail.

Best place we have ever stayed, bar none!

This was our first time here and definitely not our last time back. This Inn was amazing! Myself (25f) and my partner (28m) could not have been happier. The staff (Leslie, Amanda, Becky, Ken, all of them!) are just so friendly and welcoming. The room was so cozy and clean and omg how can you forget about the food!! 

The service is great; you feel like part of the family while also feeling special and important. We of course did a Stave puzzle but we also ventured out to Littleton, NH for the day to check out the shops and eat dinner at the Schilling Beer Co. Highly recommend Jack and Fin for grilled cheese and cupcakes too! It was such a lovely trip and we can’t wait to come back!

V-Day Getaway

This is our favorite Inn! The owners are very friendly and really care about making sure you are having a good time. The rooms are beautiful. The bar is adorable and there are games on the tables to keep you busy. The food is 5 star!!! Soooo delicious. If you want a place to relax and get away from the stress of life, The Rabbit Hill Inn is the place for you!
