We stayed in unit 210.  Not posh but clean and tidy.  We had an awesome time.  Can’t beat closeness to the beach and pool was great too.  Short drive and parking at the boardwalk or restaurants.  Washer/dryer an added convenience.   Parking for 1 car only was an inconvenience.

2023 Beach Vacation

The rooms are privately owned so some reviews here about people rooms aren't up to par it's kind of the luck of the draw and how the owner maintains it however I call this a diamond in a rough because often times a lot of homes in that Beach area are often off the side road from the beach this particular property has an ocean view from every room unless you're on the first floor a pool right in front so you have both options you'll often see people from the private homes walking to the beach while you're watching the beach whether it's in the evening early morning sunrise or throughout the day there's a food court bottom left and food accessories and delivery everywhere in the area but I called this a diamond in a rough cuz at the price point an oceanfront view out the window walking out to your room is very hard to find in that area unless you're paying a lot of money  😎

Absolutely disgusting. Upon check in room was gross. Food in drawers from last occupant. Hairs in shower and freezer. After taking my sneakers off within 5 minutes of unpacking the bottoms of my white socks were black. Wifi info was incorrect, dresser drawer was broken. Toothpast marks from last occupants on the mirror. When I called the office from. Cape May the next afternoon the woman I spoke to made it sound like it was all our fault. My husband called back a few minutes later only to find out that we were never given all of our check in info explaining "procedures", such as no daily house cleaning and if we wanted clean towels we were supposed to leave the dirty ones outside the next morning. They also don't supply hand towels and supposedly the linen company never delivered their wash cloths ...NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

DISGUSTING-AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

When I entered the condo number 404 I found a clogged toilet with the toilet overflowing onto the bathroom floor pubic hair hair and dirt all around the toilet and on the bathroom floor sand in the bathtub sand all throughout the condo dust caked on the microwave sound bar DVD kitchen table and chairs as well as pictures the exhaust fan was falling out of the ceiling in the bathroom there were holes in the ceiling above the sink there was rust on the floor by the trashcan the trashcan lid was broken. The condo had not been cleaned prior to us entering. When I complained the next day at 11 AM I was told that the housekeepers were all gone for the day and that I had to wait another day for the unit to be cleaned. I was promised at this time to be refunded for the nights that I stayed in a dirty condo. When I emailed the contact person, Amber. She got back to me with an apology and stated that we had the choice to leave if we did not like the conditions. She never mentioned a refund. After 3 more ignored emails I called the hotel. Amber never gave the courtesy of calling me back as suggested and refunded a measly $52 out of the $445 that we paid. When the housekeepers finally came to clean neither one of them had masks on.  To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Yes... we couldn’t left but I was 1 week  post op from carpal tunnel surgery and my husband has issues with walking so to pack up and unpack again and find a hotel was just a huge inconvenience to us so I cleaned the unit best I could with what I had. I am very disappointed in the lack of concern that Amber displayed.

Absolute filth in condo 404

DO NOT BOOK UNITS 102 or 102A. Evident owner doesn’t care about property. DIRTY! Crumbs on floor and fridge drawer upon check-in. ANTS! (Near stove and in bathroom primarily) Not a single update. Run down. Brown window in bathroom. MOLD! Management unavailable after hours. Upon check in was told there was only one key for unit as previous guest couldn’t find it (safety and security concern) Small sink. Only sheets on bed- pictures show comforters. No sheets available for sleeper sofa after asking multiple times.

Stay Away

 We are staying at the Madrid in a condo unit not owned by the hotel. The room is very pleasant and clean. It is oceanfront. Sometimes it tends to be hot because there is only one air conditioning in the living room and it has to blow into the bedroom and that means you have to keep it extremely low to get the whole apartment cool. I could find that a bit annoying. It is very convenient to everything here in Wildwood crest. The beach is right out front which is extremely clean and beautiful. The pool area is average. It looks nicer than it actually is. They could do a little bit better with maintaining the pool. There are some missing tiles and the separation between the baby pool and deeper and is on the Rocky side. They definitely need some umbrellas to let their guests escape from the hot sun. I wish the hotels did not allow smoking as sometimes you want to just enjoy your view on the balcony but you have to endure people smoking in the breeze blowing it right in your face. It was a decent price for a decent family vacation and I would still recommend a visit here but I would probably suggest going through home away and reserving a privately owned room.

Decent

I booked two queen beds --I got just a king ---No closet ,had to hang clothes on chairs ,other patrons stole our chair and management was rude and said so what do you want me to do . Iron ,no ironing board --no coffee pot --tub but no place to put the soap--sink in bathroom no hot water  Bug in refrig freezer ,but it WAS dead Mangement was rude to the wife when telling of the problems and lied about our room -They never sent us a conformatiom either by e-mail -or MAIL after I requested one ------Book somewhere s else

Stay away !

All rooms face the beach.  With a pool, beach, volleyball, cafe, and common areas steps away from your room, it's a great place for families and kids considering the price.  It is a no frills place, and is really an "efficiency", not a condo. You can stay for 5 nights here, versus 1 or 2 nights at a high end place.  The kids could run onto the beach anytime of day or night safely (older kids).    The Sun Dog cafe has very good quality food, the salad I had was outstanding for the price considering it was beach side.  I would say a room comfortably sleeps 4. It is not fancy, and not a full service resort, it's more like camping next to the beach.  There are plenty of grills in the common area and some families knew what to do and produced beautiful sit-down dinners.  The view of the Friday night fireworks was great.  If you're fussy or ocd, bring your own blankets and pillows. There were families of all sorts, we enjoyed the crowd.  The rooms were quiet, I didn't here any noise (I also pack a sound machine). I would go back.  We could not get the wifi to work, but I would rather the kids play with crabs and minnows than the latest app.

Family Fun on the Beach and on Budget

My husband, three kids and I recently stayed 3 nights at the Madrid for our summer vacation. My initial impression was good. Our unit was relatively spacious and clean with an updated kitchenette and beach decor. We were on the first floor, next to the pool with an ocean view. There were gas grills available for guests to make dinner, which we utilized one evening. The little cafe located onsite was reasonably priced with good iced coffee and simple but tasty options for lunch or an afternoon snack. 

There were a few minor maintenance issues in the unit that were quickly addressed. Although we were unable to get the wifi working.It's also worth noting that we were not given the exact unit we had booked. We were supposed to have 2 bunk beds instead of a second double bed. However, since my stepson opted not to go, it wasn't an issue. Not sure what we would have done otherwise. 

The office was only open until 7, which unfortunately meant the pool also closed at 7 each evening. We would have liked to be able to swim in the evening.

On our second night, there was a loud party on the floor above us and teenagers running around yelling outside the bedroom window, and had no way to contact management. There were no emergency phone numbers. After 11 pm I sent a message to the Madrid Facebook page, and received a message back a short while later recommending that I call the police about the noise. I did not feel this was an adequate response. Especially since they advertise as being family friendly and that they do not allow students or partying. 

I don't think we will stay at the Madrid again.

Needs Better Management 

We were on the first floor and facing the ocean and looking at the pool. 
We found out on the 3rd day there was a good place connected to the condos. 
The walk to the beach was easy, clean and nice. 
The hotel was decent and beds were decent. 
However the shower had mold & a moldy shower curtain and leaked. It was terrible to give kids a shower in. 
We left for lunch and came back to one "partially" made bed (we had a double bed room) and no towels / wash clothes in our room. They took them out and did not replace. 
Everytime we turned the TV off it would come back on, so weird. 
I told the girl at desk and said housekeeping left and she has no towels to give.
