Very nice place! We were able to check in early and since it was fireman’s weekend they moved our room to the second floor which was not necessary but very courteous! We could swim in either pool. Staff was nice and friendly. It was a great place for my fiancé and I to end our summer. Room was super clean and tidy. Definitely would recommend to anyone and would stay again. The price was perfect as well!

Clean and friendly!

The after-hours arrival process was straightforward and simple. The room was extraordinarily clean. I'm a manager at a luxury resort in the Hamptons, and while this is certainly a no-frills classic American motel, it's well-maintained and has the same level of housekeeping excellence as my property. My only suggestion would be leaving a couple of bottles of water in the fridge so guests don't have to drive to find drinking water after arrival, especially if they arrive late, but overall, highly recommend.

Clean, simple, easy

Stayed in the Ala Kai North/Marlin Building.  It was great.  Our room had a kitchenette and a "full-size" garbage can, which you should never underestimate the importance of on a trip!   

The staff was so kind and accommodating (especially when we locked both our keys in our room).   

We took care of the booking, but our family (who stayed in another room) was quite impressed with everything!!  They couldn't believe we picked such a great place to stay.

The kids loved the pool on the days when the ocean water wasn't quite warm enough for them, and the adults enjoyed the relaxing lounge chairs provided at the pool.

This was our first time staying here, but we will definitely be back.  


Great Experience!!

Last minute birthday planned overnight down the shore. My boyfriend called many hotels & motels on a last minute notice trying to find a place. To my delight, he called the Blue Marlin/Ala Kai Resort Motel. Theresa at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer with helping him make the arrangements with a room. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised, Beautiful clean room, with a fresh & upbeat decor. Comfy beds too! 
Thanks to the Ala Kai for helping to make a random Birthday trip a special one. We would will def be back again this summer! 😁

Great Clean Motel

This is a great place to stay for an authentic 50's/60's Wildwood motel experience complete with neon signs and palm trees.  It was very clean and the staff is very courteous.  The bedding was clean and comfortable.  The location is very close to the beach and far enough away from the noise of central Wildwood.   The pool area was very clean and inviting. 

Some recommendations I have for the owners to improve the experience are black out shades (due to outside lights at night) and an exhaust fan in the bathroom (it gets steamy during showers)

Excellent Doo Wop Motel Experience

We stayed 4 nights and had a 2-room efficiency- A closed bedroom and a room with a sofa bed, table, 4 chairs, full-size refrigerator, range (not full size), sink, with less than 1 foot of counter space.  It seems to be an electrical hazard to me, that 1 foot of counter space, serves to hold a dish rack, you have a toaster and coffee machine. Needless to say, it’s best to unplug everything when you’re washing your dishes.   The place is “dated” but functional. I find the space rather tight to sleep 4.  We were 2 and it was good for the amount of days we were there.  The air conditioning unit in the bedroom was loud and sometimes it seemed to shake the entire room. They have a lovely rooftop terrace that we didn’t have an opportunity to use. The pool was super-clean and water temperature ideal, however the pool area has full sun only in the morning, it is covered by shade in the afternoon  (for the most part).

It was our first time staying at the Ala Kai and it won't be our last! We got a 1 room efficiency with a little kitchen and it was great for our 4 person family! Super clean, comfy beds, even complete with towel animals! Check in and check out were a breeze. Perfect spot just feet from the beach. And loved the guest happy hour on Wednesdays - what a welcome! My family can't wait to return next year!

Great Spot!

The property does have a Wednesday “Guest Appreciation” event from 430p-630p with complimentary pizza & beer.  The motel (built 1963) is looking tired in some spots. No ventilation fan exists in the bathrooms, and some ceiling areas in our room had been patched in spots due to its flat roof design.  There was also no room clock and very few outlets to plug anything in. The bathroom itself did not have one at all.

Parking spaces (even for guests) can be at a premium; we came back to our room the first night and all were taken.  We had to park at the Blue Marlin across the street.  The parking spots themselves seem to barely meet ADA requirements regarding width and depth.  I have a handicap placard and had to be a contortionist to get out of my car.

Interior bathroom sink and tub has soft pink countertop colors that are reminiscent of a doo wop style back in the day, but look tacky and dated now.

Rates were reasonable.  The beach is about an eight to ten minute walk, and the location (E Toledo Rd & Atlantic Ave) has active construction going on behind the motel for new multi family houses.

Good location; quiet area; very good ownership

The room and motel grounds were clean and well maintained.  The staff was friendly and we even got towel animals on our beds! The location was good if you didn't want to be directly in the hustle and bustle of  boardwalk area. The beach was clean and well groomed and just a short walk from the motel. The pool was nice and not too crowded for August.

Nice Motel !

Booked a spur of the moment weekend here, and were favorably impressed. Clean rooms, nice pool, convenient location. Highly recommend! Even had towel sculptures! Had no issues with loud neighbors and always felt safe.
