This was the 4th summer vacation I have stayed at Viking Motel.  It has changed hands since John and  his wife used to own it.  I missed the fresh juice and pastries in the morning laid out for hotel guests.  It was always a nice touch.  Otherwise, it was the same - clean rooms and bathrooms, spotless property, no smoking, easy ample parking on premises and beyond helpful staff.  Alex, the Super, was accommodating and everyone worked hard to keep the property in tip top shape.  We will definitely keep coming back if it stays like this.

Great Stay, 4th time!

The hotel was used for overflow of attendees that were at two other facilities across the street on the beach side.  What a disaster the Viking is.  It was up to date in the 50s/60s, but not now.  The bathroom is super small without any room to even put your toiletries.  The screens in the two windows were dirty.  There are hardly any outlets in the room.  We had a microwave, small frig and coffee pot - no cups, no coffee.  The water for the shower was ice cold.  This location is good (one block from the beach) but can only be improved by gutting or demolishing the structure and starting over.  The manager from the other facility did the best he good getting this place ready for overflow attendees, but it was just too much to handle.

Run!

From reviews was very surprised at the room. Room was large,, beds very comfortable, was clean but so outdated. New ownership recently, hoping they change it. Outlet in bathroom not useable, poor lighting in room.  Pool closes at 8 which was disappointing.  Staff very nice & accommodating.  Location is great.

Very outdated but great location

I don't really understand why this motel has high reviews.  When booking, it was by far the cheapest place for the time period I was looking for. I knew that it was a gamble but I figured that the place would either surprise or horrify me, so I got a little of both.  The location was great, very quiet for being located in Wildwood Crest.  The balconies faced the back of a hotel across the street that wasn't noisy, tennis/pickleball courts on one side, and a public building diagonally across the street.   So the location was a very nice plus.  

We stayed a few nights and I figured I just needed a place to lay my head as we don't plan on being in the room much when at the beach.  The problem was that there were few creature comforts to make the stay enjoyable.  Depending on where your room was on the premise, the Wi-Fi is either awesome or non-existent.  We appeared to stay far away from wherever the Wi-Fi was because I couldn't get a signal to look up menus or for the kids to play on their tablets.

There was mold on the bathroom ceiling and the shower above the tub line never got cleaned.  There was a clump of hair that lived in one spot my entire stay about chest level in the shower.  The shower drain was slow and would pool up and create a foot bath composed of sand and dirt from you and whoever took a shower before you.  I kind of thought this would not be the cleanest place based on the outdated pictures and the whole setup of the motel, so I brought my own cleaning supplies because I don't want my kids to get sick.  I was in the military for awhile so I am quite used to a tent, bagged meal, and a 99 cent Federal budget for creature comforts.  But I wanted my kids to have happy memories, so cleanliness and COVID are a big concern still.  My AC unit was on 62 degrees and would only really cool half of the room.  The AC unit had mold on the vents and inside the unit, so my Microban was put to good use cleaning what I could.  

Overall, this was a one-time stay only.  It was extremely outdated and almost seem neglected.  I spoke to a few other people who were staying at the same time I was and they were disappointed with the place overall and said they would not return again.  There are so many places to stay in the Crest and it's been a trial and error for me. Viking Motel just didn't feel comfortable and it missed out on providing a lot of basic features needed to be sustainable for both a short and long stay.

Stayed Once And Will Not Be Back

Room was dirty. Smell in bathroom.  Kids running around jumping in and out pool no dicipline in pool area. No adult only swim time. Little  Kids up very late disturbing peace while parents partying outside thier room. MUSIC  which is not allowed at all was played by some outside anyway. People doing shots and drinking at poolside with small children in and around pool.   Pool dirty . Insects , stuff floating around, in, on and underwater never saw pool skimmed the whole week. Most middle aged  or older people left pool area because you could not enjoy any quiet relaxing time. They offer a kid pool but most kids were in the deeper part of pool with floats, toys etc.  They have two grills at the pool only one works!!  Good luck getting on that one. Chairs to sit outside your room are NOT next to your door  you have to sit in front of your neighbors door and their smoking comes right in your room along with their foul language and late night partying. Does not make any sense.  Many complained. Nothing done.

Dirty, poorly maintained and poorly managed!

This is a great little hotel a block off the beach in the Crest. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Pool was nice and every morning they serve  coffee and cookies out front.  Parking spots were a little tight for an oversized vehicle and if your looking for a 5 star resort this isn’t for you. Simple and inexpensive, we enjoyed our stay

Clean, Simple, and Inexpensive

We were only staying for one night, so we weren't looking for anything all that fancy.  The Viking served its purpose - room was clean and comfortable.  The staff was super friendly (thank God, because we squeaked in at 10:50 pm - we would have lost our reservation at 11:00 pm)
My only complaint was the fact that there were people sitting outside smoking EVERYWHERE.  It's like any smokers coming to visit town knew to book a room at The Viking. Like,walking back and forth between the car and our room was just..unpleasant.  Even the cleaning crew was sitting and smoking before their shift.

One Night Stay - Good for Our Purposes

Room was nice. Nothing fancy but we don't like fancy. Other guests were a bit noisy but it was Roar to the Shore weekend after all. Price was right and when they we asked for first floor rooms because we were traveling with a 2 yr old with a broken leg they upgraded us to a room with a full kitchen at no extra charge.

Nice place friendly staff

We stayed the Summer of '16 (post says '17, but we forgot to write a review until now).  Small motel, but it has everything we needed.  Nice pool (warm! - the black paint on pool wall naturally heats it up), BBQ area & soooooo close to beach (200 yards).  Pool has foot shower to clean off the beach sand. They morning cofee/juice/snacks each day. had  We had a kitchenette, 2 beds, plenty of space in the room for our family.  And, it was still cheaper than all other motels in the area.  We ended up staying another night!  Staff/owner very friendly & nice (I lost my key the first day, and it was no problem for them!) . We left an item in the room after we left, and they mailed it back to us at no charge! They have a parrot in their office, which was fun.  Room was clean & freshened up each day. Wifi a bit spotty, but if you sit on the balcony, it's fine (you're on vacation - stay off the internet!)  Just about 1/2 mile (10 min walk) from beginning of boardwalk on south side.  We loved this place & will return the next time we visit Wildwood!

The Little Motel With Lots of Charm

My girlfriend and I take a vacation to Wildwood once a year and this year we booked it at the Viking Motel. Even though we are use to staying in Wildwood and not the Crest, it was nice to try something different. The motel was quiet, affordable, clean, offered plenty of parking and had a nice size room. Now given most people who go on vacation barely stay in the room except to shower and sleep. The manager Johnny always went out of his way to offer extra towels, sheets, etc. We also saw that he cared about his establishment because he was constantly walking around fixing things. The pool was nice and cool, clean and had plenty of chairs to sit around and lounge. The boardwalk is close to a half mile from the motel so if you like to walk, this is the place for you. We recommend this place to anyone, couple or family that wants to stay in Wildwood but not near the boardwalk noise.
