Great girls trip to catch up and visit Wimberley together. Perfect rooms with fantastic walk in shower. Pool outside was a perfect relaxation after in house spa treatment. A great day! Will come again. 

Great spa, pool and beautiful room stay, all in one trip.

We booked the Blair House Inn on a recommendation of a family member. He stayed here June of 2022. We were looking forward to an awesome experience and we were disappointed.  The property is in such disrepair.  The pool was dirty (floating cigarette butts) and the spa wasn’t working. We were there for 4 days and the deck storage box at pool had the same dirty towels and trash the entire time. There were so many things falling apart and/or not functional. The breakfast was not gourmet - we were served store bought pastries, cold pancakes, etc.  we were told the inn was under new ownership - so not sure if this was the problem. Our cottage itself was clean and the sheets were glorious. However, the television was too small for the cottage.  The employees were very nice - but obviously were not able to keep up with maintain the property. 

Very disappointed 😞

We have been going to the Blair House every year for the past 6 years and it has always been an awesome experience! This trip, however, was very sad and disappointing. Chris and Lois Mahoney sold in October 2022 to someone who lives out of state and it is obvious they don’t care about the little pleasures that visitors have enjoyed. We booked over the weekend so we could enjoy the great dinner they have on Saturday night, we were later told, too late to change plans without losing a lot of money, that the Saturday dinners had been cancelled along with the cooking class. Also, it was a tradition at 5 o’clock every evening a glass carafe with wine and some desserts would be delivered to each room, now it is a plastic carafe, half the size of the glass one, and no desserts. The gourmet breakfast that we enjoyed every morning is now mediocre, at best! We love going to Wimberley but we will be looking for another B&B that is up to the standards that we have come to expect for the money! I know the staff did the best they could under the circumstances but they need to get back to the standards that were set by Chris and Lois!

Very sad and disappointing!

If you are scheduled for a cooking class at Blair House Inn, we suggest you ask for a detailed description of what you will actually be cooking. While the staff at Blair House was very friendly, the 3 day "Barbecue Cooking school" consisted of only two items cooked on the grill, premade bottle barbecue sauce, Nestle tollhouse premade cookie dough and box brownies and all 4 side dishes on the second night included mayonnaise. The pecan pie was made by the chef while we were on break.

Rooms were quaint and clean and peacocks were fun to watch.

Cooking School Disappointment

My friend and I met at the Blair House Inn and enjoyed the Mediterranean week of Cooking School. We stayed in the Austin suite which had the softest bed sheets ever and a lovely gas fireplace. The grounds are beautiful and the area is interesting to explore, especially the Wemberly Glassworks. The  Cooking School was entertaining and educational with delicious food and new friendships made. Everyone knew our name and treated us like valued guests. I highly recommend a visit.

Cooking School and More!

We stayed Hera to celebrate an early Valentine’s and we enjoyed every minute of it. We were received with juices, and goodies. The room was very nice, clean and windows facing the hike path. Breakfast was delicious. Excellent location,  5 min from downtown Wimberly

Very relaxing

I had a great time in the cooking class at Blair Inn. It was laid back, friendly, and full of tips that I took home to share with my family.  I was lucky: something came up that would have been quite honestly filled with reasons to cancel the class, but they didn’t – Thank you to them!  I worked with Chef Marcel and enjoyed the comradery and professional expertise during the three-day class.  I was afraid it would be hard-nosed and awkward, but it was anything but.  The setting was elegant and charming with some fancy touches, a great selection of local artwork, and some southwestern decor.  The staff was always friendly and helpful. On the first-day cooking class, one staff member, Gussy, took a short break and had a cup of coffee with me; I loved the stories she shared, and shortly before class started, Chef Marcel joined us - this little bit of personal time served as a friendly beginning to class.  The class was laid back and full of great tips. Chef Marcel was personable and showed me techniques that would make cooking at home easier.  She encouraged me to trust my tastes and play a little while still sticking with the chosen cuisine.  She made the time relaxing and fun, not stressful and fast-paced. Other staff members that walked through the kitchen stopped to say hello or give recommendations for visiting different places in Wimberly, and at the end, the business manager created one more memory and another round of great conversation that I won’t spoil for others.  I understood that they were under new owners, and I will be curiously watching for updates and changes and hope to go again.
I highly recommend the cooking school keeping in mind that each class will be different due to the number of people who sign up but I think it is well worth it.  It was a great experience that I can’t wait to try again.


An experience I recommend and can't wait to do again!

The Blair House Inn was perfect for a relaxing getaway. I stayed in the El Paso suite, and I highly recommend this suite if possible. I love NM and the southwest and didn't have the time or money to take a trip very far now, so I booked this suite, and it really felt like I was in a adobe house in NM!

Very thoughtful touches, like water (for the coffee), chocolates, a robe in the closet, lavender soaps and lotions, went a long way. It even had a journal on the nightstand, where people wrote thank yous and also some personal thoughts. I loved that.

The breakfast was delicious. It came with berries, a pastry, and then a meal. Juice, coffee, and water were available. They even provided oat milk, as I mentioned before my stay that I don't drink milk. 
 
After breakfast, I worked in the living room area at the desk. The living room is perfect for a studious stay, or if you have to do a little work to do. I lit the fireplace, and it felt so cozy.

It has central heat/air conditioning, which it worked well. There are also ceiling fans in both rooms.

The bed was very comfortable also!  

I hope to return again soon. I can't recommend this B&B enough!

El Paso suite was perfect 

We stayed in the El Paso suite and enjoyed the ambiance and especially the fireplace. Very disappointed in breakfast both days. Reheated omelette with greasy potatoes first day. Second day reheated popover and pancakes that had to be cut with knive. I’ve had better breakfast at hotel buffet.

Anniversary get away

The Blair House Inn was a great place when Lois and Chris Mahoney were the owners.  We have stayed there numerous times in the past .  However, the Inn was sold a few months ago and the new owners apparently have NO experience in the hospitality industry, and it shows in a big way. Our visit was a disappointment to say the least. Only two or three of the former employees have been retained and no one else (including the new owners) seems to have any idea what is going on or how to fix anything that goes wrong (example:  wi-fi not working, missing DVD player in room). The food was mediocre at best, and occasionally just bad.  If you are a member of the Select Registry Rewards Program, be forewarned that they have no idea how the program works and no desire to find out.   It's a shame to see a formerly wonderful inn go downhill.
