Check in was not easy, they tried charging rack rate which was 25% higher than the confirmed reservation. After a bit of an argument a manager stepped in and they honored the lower rate as quoted and confirmed via email. The room was not good. Broken vanity tops, stuck faucet, frozen over freezer.  Free breakfast is kind of a joke. I'll be booking somewhere else next time.

Needs major overhaul and repairs.

We stayed for one night for a wedding and thankful that was all the longer we stayed. Staff is extremely polite and accommodating. Room was large but extremely disappointing. Our toilet didn’t work, bed was horribly uncomfortable and broken on one side. Needs a lot of updating. We paid $189 for a night but the quality of the room was no where near that. I would expect this type of room to cost $70-$90. Wouldn’t return.

Staff was good but room needs major attention

We really like this place. They are currently short staffed, but seem to do their best to accommodate. We had one of the nicest big rooms I’ve ever gotten for $140. The restaurant is a favorite as well. So far this is my first choice for a room in Hayward. 

Great place to stay. 

Hotel staff is doing their best, but this places needs complete overhaul. Rooms are overpriced, should be $70 for this level.  Bathrooms have counters and toilets made are not standard height, and none or for handicaps.  There is no elevator and the steps dont appear to be OSHA compliant.  Again, staff was pleasant- they just dont have much to work with here.

Needs a complete refit!

We called at the last minute hoping to get lodging to avoid a big winter storm. Every person we encountered on the staff was friendly, courteous and very welcoming. We had our dog with us and she also was treated like a celebrity. Dealing with staff shortages on the day before the start of the busiest weekend of the year for this place didn't seem to phase anybody. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was well done. Simple but satisfying. We certainly will make this a stop the next time we are in Hayward.

Last minute visit. Wish we could have stayed longer

While the staff was great, this hotel needs some serious attention. Our curtain in the room was broken so we went to the desk. No one to fix so we used clips to hold the curtain closed. Sheets and pillows have seen better days. Paint chipping everywhere, mold along bottom of bathroom floor. Sink drained really slow. Asked for an extra blanket and it had holes in it. Shower we are not sure was usable. This hotel price point should be $79 per night according to quality of room.

Staff was great - quality of room was concerning

We stayed for one night at an AARP rate of $144 for a Friday night.  Check in was fine, the room was okay - could use a little TLC, as some things didn't work correctly and  also looked worn.

There was a frig and microwave in the room.  The bed was okay, but we could hear the springs in the bed.  We could also hear the people upstairs and in the room next to us.

I know that there are staff shortages, so hopefully this lodge can do some upkeep to keep it functioning and a place that people want to stay.  We will probably not stay here again, particularly as the price did not match the room quality.

Could use some TLC

My son and I came up to the area to fish for Muskys and we are glad we stayed at Flat Creek Lodge.  All of the Musky Lakes that we fished were within a 30 minute drive and other restaurants were within walking distance.  Unfortunately we did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant here but it had a great feel to it.  The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean.  We will definitely stay here again when we are in the Hayward area.

Close to Many Musky Lakes

Outdated room, towels were skimpy look like rags threads hanging from them. No wash cloths. Rug feels so disgusting had to keep our socks on. Beds are hard. Not worth the money we paid! It was picked on trip advisor as 21 best but it’s a dump. If we hadn’t had to sleep in our car the night before because of no vacancies where we were at we would have left! Too tired to find another place!

Just say No!

First disappointment, no elevator.  2nd, no toilet paper whatsoever in the bathroom.  3rd, they decided to close the pool and hot tub for our entire stay.  4th, Only ONE flimsy plastic cup in the bathroom, so 2 people need to share?!  Front desk personnel very crabby.  Needless to say, we won’t be back.
