Newly remodeled. Nice enough for the price!  They were still remodeling when we were there. You must reserve online since they do Not have any site or anyway to register while you are there... (odd?)  Friendly folks. Lancaster is a beautiful area. Within walking distance of downtown.

During the first weekend of October, 2019, my family booked three rooms at the Welcome Inn, as we do annually for the Lancaster/ St.Clement's Family festival. We haven't been able to make it the last few years, but made it this year and were very unhappy to find out that the Welcome Inn has had so many changes, for the worst. First of all, the manager could not provide us with a rate over the phone and could not provide a detailed printout/receipt from our stay, only the final credit card receipt with the total. That was a red flag, and I think their rates are a little bit high considering the value of what you get (we paid about $300 for 3 rooms. There used to be continental breakfast, which there is no longer. One of our rooms had seepage coming in from the wall after heavy rains(according to young man/manager?), all of the rooms were dirty and the bathtubs had mats that had black mold under them. Finally, one of my sister's rooms had wasps behind the curtain, living there for who knows how long? For our bedroom with the seeping water, the young man who came in never apologized for the major inconvenience, and came in twice to mop up the water with a really dark colored dirty mop. The washcloths and towels are supposed to be white, but were grayish/brown colored, and finally when we were about 20 minutes late checking out and we were harassed by the same young man who was mopping up the seeping water with no apology, and he was very rude in his communications with us about checking out late. I'm a teacher, and the way he was speaking with me was how I speak with middle school students who are being naughty! I thought maybe he would be a little considerate, considering everything we had been through with the water seepage and my toddler daughter not being able to go to bed right away because we had to wait for the floor to dry, while she walked through the dirty, mopped up water.
It's sad because the place used to be very nice and have a nice continental breakfast. The place has really gone downhill and needless to say, we won't be staying here anymore. Very sad.

P.S. They advertise, "no pets,"  but I saw a woman come out of the back door walking her little dog. Interesting...

What happened to this place? It used to be nice!

We have been staying here on our trips to Lancaster for the last 16 yrs. The new owner is working very hard to remodel the hotel and make it more modern, the new floors, painted walls and new window furnishings are a big plus, and the rooms are very clean, including the bathrooms and that is a huge plus at any hotel !

Big Improvment !

Was in Lancaster for a family get together. Other family members have stayed here over the years  and commented that the place has gone downhill.  Also knew accommodations in town were limited. Definitely needs an upgrade and remodel. Stayed two nights and had to ask for more toilet paper and towels. Bed was comfortable. Was glad to have a refrigerator and the A/C worked well. Also have family in Fennimore. Think I would check out options there first if and when I visit again.

Disappointed

An association I belong to was having an annual meeting, dinner in Lancaster Sat. night.  Many members booked rooms.  I called and asked if there was a room available several days before the meeting and a reservation was made.  Upon arriving at 5 pm I was told that I would be staying in the basement level as all the other rooms were full.  I was escorted down the stairs and through a dank long hallway to the last door.  The room was actually a small apartment.  Upon entering, a galley kitchen to my left had a full size refrigerator pulled out from the wall blocking the door to the kitchen.  I was asked if I wanted it plugged in and I said no.  The room had an unpleasant damp odor, the walls needed repair and painting, there was mold on the wall in various places, the lamp shade was stained and dirty, the bathroom was inadequately lighted and unpleasant and everything was very old.  I was very unhappy but felt I had little choice at such a late hour and was quite sure most places were full as there are few places to stay in the area.  There was no waste basket, no facial tissues, no hair dryer and NO KEY!!  I could lock the door once in the room but could not lock it when I left for my meeting so I had to take my valuables with me.  Fortunately I was only in the room long enough to try to sleep but just kept imagining the mold I was inhaling much of the night.  The next morning I told the manager how unhappy I was and how that was not a room.  He told me that it counted as a room and that I had made my reservation after the other rooms were full -to which I replied "you should have said you were full when I called!" 
     I have stayed here before.  The price was reasonable and while not a 4 star hotel, it was ok and convenient.  There is now new management my last two stays and everything continues to deteriorate.  I won't stay again!

overbooking/terrible accommodations

I stayed here for work. The next day after my check-in I left the "Do not disturb" sign on my door. I came back to my room and money was missing. I told the front desk about it and the man told me it didn't happen and he argued with me about. They control the temp so my room never got above 60 degrees. Not a good thing when you work outside in a Wisconsin winter. The hallway was warmer than my room. This was hands down one of the worst hotel stays I have encountered. The staff his completely rude and don't even allow you to speak.

Money comes up missing in my room. I was told it didnt happen.

We stayed as a group. They weren't accommodating getting everyone on the first floor & we found ourselves scattered among other guests on both floors. We asked to move our room to the first floor, however they weren't able to do so despite there being empty rooms available. As the place was quiet, the hallways were oddly narrow and not what I would consider to be of standard.
