We can’t say enough about how wonderfully this resort has been renovated and revived by the new owners and management. When the Alwards owned and operated this lovely resort, we stayed here very happily for many years during our annual visits to Eagle River. After they sold it to the next owners, the reviews were so bad that we stayed away. 
We were thrilled to hear that Chanticleer had been sold again to private owners who knew and loved the place. The reviews quickly skyrocketed, and we booked for this year. 
We were delighted with the villa we stayed in. The decks were brand new, and were sanded during our stay. The appliances were also new. We had trouble with  the stove, but housekeeping was very responsive. Whenever we called Jill or Jenni, they were ready to help. The mattress in our bed needed replacement, but we trust that this will be addressed as part of the continuing renovation. The grounds are immaculate, and some welcome additions, such as a fire pit, have been made
One suggestion we have is that when people call to make reservations, they should be asked about mobility issues. We were at first assigned to a villa that one of us could not access. Luckily another, similar accommodation was available, and the staff facilitated our transfer graciously.
We look forward to many future stays, and know we’ll be well taken care of at Chanticleer!

Chanticleer is better than ever!

Nice resort, beautiful location, quiet atmosphere.
Could use a few updates and freshen up of the rooms. The staff were excellent, very friendly and informative.
Worth the money for the fall rates, but not worth the $300 stated on the door for high season.

Just finished an amazing meal at the Chanticleer Inn. Pork schnitzel,  red cabbage,  and spaetzel made the way it should be; tender and buttery.  And the portion was very generous.   We will be back for more. 

Great dinner!

Nice overnight for a family event.  Catering and bar in lobby very good.  A number of snowmobilers coming and going.  Room clean comfortable good temperature control.  Nice view on interlake river foliage.  Quiet location pleasant staff.

Nice overnight family stay

Stayed there this last weekend for the first time with my family and friends families. Was a great place, clean and very well located on the chain of lakes giving easy access to all of it. Rooms were clean and the views from everybody's room was amazing. The bar and service was great, as well as the grill outside for lunches. All the employees were very friendly and we even got to meet a couple of the new owners, they were also super friendly while making sure we were all enjoying ourselves.
We will definitely stay again and would highly recommend the Chanticleer Inn to anybody looking for a beautiful setting at a beautiful resort, with great employees and service!

WILL GO AGAIN!

Awesome place. We had over 25 people staying there. Place was clean. We rented boats and jet skis for the week. Jill and Jenni couldn't be any better. Highly recommend. Coffee is great in the morning. Beer garden has great food for lunch and ice cold beer

Family vacation

My family and other extended family members have frequented Chanticleer for many years.  We never experienced a problem.  It was recently sold, has new management and chose to partner with a 1.2 star rayed company - Vacasa.  After becoming temporarily disabled and having Covid, we asked to shorten our stay.  They refused to allow changes.  However, after driving 9 hours and arrived at 10:45 p.m. in the middle of our reservation we found that Chanticleer rented our room to another customer as there was someone else including pets in our unit. We tried to use our other room, but the shower didn't drain well and the toilet didn't flush. Clearly this booking agency AND the operator are incompetent, in our experience.
I called Vacasa, they promised to resolve and call back (they NEVER did!). I spoke with the operator (Jeff) and after he promised our refund would be emailed to us "shortly", it was not received as promised. After following up numerous times, Jeff now says it can take several days. After reading through other reviews, another client of theirs said they were promised a refund but never received it.
It is ironic and upsetting that they didn't allow us to modify our reservation, but they apparently felt they could. No Integrity at all. No professionalism at all.
This is clearly not the same place that I and my family have frequented for many years. If they make good & actually keep their word for once, we'll plan to update this posted review.
Now it's time to contact my credit card company, the Better Business Bureau and if needed, file a suit against these extremely poor businesses for breach of contract, false advertising and general deceptive business practices.

NOT the same place - new management

Chanticleer Inn is a nice enough facility.  Unfortunately, Jake, the owner, took it upon himself to put hundreds of dollars of unauthorized charges on my credit card.  It was a complete nightmare, since the reservation booking entity (Vacasa) disclaimed any responsibility, and the owner made promises of remediation, which were never followed up on.  Finally had to have my bank step in to set things right.

You can do much better, and avoid lots of needless grief

Village was clean, comfortable.  The service  was the worst. Very expensive  for very little  amenities. 
The restaurant  was not open,  the bar was only open  from 11:30 to 4:00
 There was propane  grills on deck very nice. However  the instructions  said if you run out to call office.  In the middle  of cooking  dinner  the propane  went out 
 Office was not open  and all mail  boxes were  full.
When I called the rental agent  they said we had to refill . NOT WHAT THE INSTRUCTIONS SAID.
I will never come back.
We were  planning on  bringing  friends  next year  .
Now researching  other options.  It will never  be here  anyplace  connected with Vacasa.

The worst place ever

You will notice that there are no recent reviews posted. We were just there, July 24-31, 2021. If others had the same experiences we did, it's no wonder that there are no new reviews posted. There is no one on premise to help. Vacasa, a national booking agency, handles the booking. They promised a code to unlock the key keeper. We were ready to leave home and the e-mail with the code had not yet arrived; I had to call and request the e-mail so that we could get in. The information they sent also included a password for the Wi-Fi. It was an old password and did not work. I had to call to get the correct password. We were there for three days before anyone came to clean the room or provide fresh towels and bed linens. We have had much better service from places costing half as much. The worst is that I sent Vacasa an e-mail detailing these and other concerns. No response. They sent a survey about our stay. Again, I detailed these and other concerns. Again, no response. We will not stay here again, or at any property managed by Vacasa.
