We had the best three days at Grant Village, Coyote building. When researching hotels, our main goal was paying a reasonable price and being inside the park.  We knew the rooms would be dated and  would have "just the basics."  But, we would wake up INSIDE the park! The rooms were  a tad small,  but very clean and cozy!  The room did NOT smell bad. We did NOT feel that the walls were paper thin. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. There is not an elevator,  TV or air-conditioning. Again, we knew this when booking. I am giving this lodge a five star review because it was exactly as described! We never expected a five star resort because we were not paying a five star price. We did our research and got more than we bargained!  (and waking up in the park is THE BEST!)

COZY

Okay, there are mixed reviews on Grant Village, and I believe a majority of those are from people expecting something different. The purpose of lodging at Yellowstone is to be part of nature. There is no air conditioning, no televisions, and no Wi-Fi at Grant Village. That is not something they neglected. Rather, it was a studied and deliberate choice that encourages a Teddy Rooseveltian embrace and love of nature. We saw wildlife right outside our window in the evening, and I do not think we would have had that opportunity at a Motel 6. We also stayed during COVID-19, and we considered ourselves very, very lucky to be able to enter Yellowstone and have the opportunity to stay there. Yes, price SHOULD have been reduced to reflect the absence of housekeeping and food service, but do not let that get in the way of an authentic visit to one of the most beautiful places in the entire world.

Know What to Expect.

I see complaints about lack of WiFi and TV, but this is why we vacation in the National Parks!  It’s nice to not have the media screaming their agenda at you for a few days.

Anyways, had a great stay at YNP.  I like the price point of Grant, and coupled with the fact that this location is out of the way from major tourist areas like Mammoth and Old Faithful.  Traffic was at a minimum, and we had several nights of quiet sleep.  Beds comfortable, room was clean and everything we needed for a good night’s sleep.

No cleaning service, which I’m growing to enjoy now that we’ve travelled a bit.  I like not having cleaning service rummaging thru my room when I’m not there.  I’m don’t need a daily cleanup/bed straightening any more when on vacation than when I’m at home.

I’d stay again, and hope to revisit the park again someday.

Quiet and Out of the Way Place to Stay

Stayed here with my husband and 1 year old. The park is INSANE and we will 100% be going back but I wouldn’t re book Grant Village unfortunately.

Mainly because it’s so far south next time we would locate ourselves more centrally so that drive time to the north / south loop is less. Grant Village is on a beautiful lake though and anything in YS is gorge so nothing to complain about there!

The accommodation however was a bit of a disappointment…

Was a bit surprised that there was absolutely no wifi which was a bit of a pain as I’m studying and needed to submit an assignment but appreciate some people like to go ‘off grid’ so that’s fine.

No food on site - tiny restaurant that requires advanced booking and food in all the stores is SO EXPENSIVE.  Again, not a problem but would highly recommend stocking up on snacks at a supermarket before arrival (and drinks!). Nothing to do once it gets dark so bring stuff with you!

We travel with a lot of stuff these days and there’s no lift so everything has to be lugged up a flight of stairs for first room floors.

The biggest issue for me though was the cleanliness! When you travel with a baby who wants to touch everything and spends time playing on the floor you really notice when places are dusty, need a good hoover and a thorough wipe down! Sadly this place was NOT up to an acceptable standard so inspite of really loving the park we were pleased to move on.

We were there for three nights which was perfect for exploring the park and getting a load of good walks in!

Lake Lodge looks great, we will enquire there next time and Canyon Village is a great hub for food!

Disappointing

The room was an average room, but don’t let the advertisements fool you- just about no internet or cell coverage  anywhere. Not in the rooms, hallways or even visitor center. So if you need internet or cell phone - don’t stay in the lodge. The pro- side is that it is very nice to stay in the park!

No internet or cell coverage

It is my opinion that if the lodge was serious about providing service for their customers they would provide a micro wave in each lodge foyer.
They acknowledge that limited restaurant services are available due to the situation at the moment.
The services at the store kitchen closes at 5:30 just when needed?
One restaurant is open with limited service .
They suggest bringing in your own food,but do not provide anything to heat it up with in the lodges. They provide one microwave in the registration office which has no labelling on it for general use. 
I understand their difficulties but there are simple solutions to make it easier for their customers.

Could be better

Although Grant Village is not a developed area to stay but the six lodging facility at Grant village is simply awesome. The deluxe rooms are quite spacious with two queen beds  with an attached wash room. The rooms are equipped with small fridge, coffee maker, water heater, hair dryer etc .
The restaurant & store are near visitor Centre, around 0.3 mile from our FOX LODGE , where we stayed for 2 days. Our lodge was adjacent to thumb of lake as such it was pleasant & no a/c was required.
The Wi-Fi signal in the lodge were minimal as such were required to visit Visitors Centre for digital communication .

Decent Room inside Park Area

Room was tiny for the price.  There is not much of anything around.  No wifi and the weather was terrible.  Limited food options around.  The restaurant only serves diner and is expensive.  Gave use a bag breakfast of yogurt, muffin, juice.  Very expensive and was expecting a lot more.  Would not stay there again.  Opt for somewhere in West Yellowstone not that far to drive to safe some money and have more options.

Trip to Yellowstone, last stay at Grant Village.

Normally I would rate this hotel high. The hotel is near Yellowstone Lake and West Thumb Geysers. Best of all you are in the park and can get to the different sites early and quickly and avoid traffic entering the park. The staff was friendly, and helpful. Our room was comfortable.
 However, despite paying premium price of $300.00 per night for 2 nights in September 2021 to stay in the park due to Covid19 we had minimal service. 

Expect no room service. There was a limited menu of hamburgers, hotdogs, chili bowls, fruit bowls. Coming from Hawaii I had expected to eat Western fare not dried carnival food. 

Would I stay here again? Only if the lodge provides service and restaurant improves their menu.
