Windswept and out of time, Hostel Cabo Polonio transports you to another time and place.  The hostel is nothing more than wood and straw topped with a corrugated tin roof.  Hammocks swing lazily in the ocean breeze.  A non functional television sits atop a sand dune which overlooks the ocean.  You are steps away from the water.  The owner, Alfredo, is probably taking a nap or visiting with friends but when he arrives he is happy to have a chat with you, in Spanish, English or French.  He’ll also happily discuss foods with you because he is also a chef.  The rooms are all very basic here (and easy on your budget including breakfast) but clean, as long as you don’t mind some beach sand around.  That’s part of the charm though.  From the tiny kitchen to the bathrooms outside, the hostel uses minimal electricity and strives to save water.  

But you don’t go to Cabo Polonio for big kitchens and luxurious bathrooms.  You come for the character and the hostel is full of it.  Whether you are lazing in one of the hammocks reading a book, or cooking a huge meal with your fellow hostel mates, you can’t help but be completely won over by the place.  Don’t miss this one if you are in CP.  We liked it so much, we are planning to go back.

Full of character and all that is good about Cabo Polonio

We are travelling around South America as a late twenties/early thirties couple and we stayed in Cabo Polonio hostel in a 4 bed dorm. We stayed 4 days 5 nights which for us was perfect. 

Cabo Polinio is one of the most amazing places we have ever been and wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone looking to get away from the party scene and to a place where you can relax in pure isolation from the outside world. 

During our stay in Cabo Polonio we saw a number of other hostels and none had the same intimate and chilled vibe that Cabo Polonio Hostel boasts. 

Location is great, right on the beach and close enough to all the local amenities whilst not being too close to the bars. 

The hostel only has 14 beds so it is not busy like the others and we enjoyed getting to know the other guests and ended up eating, drinking and watching the sunsets together each day. 

The hostel has a large outdoor area with seating and hammocks to chill out in meaning we ended up spending a lot more time around the hostel than we would normally.

A little taste of paradise!

This is the first hostel opened in this location long ago by pioneer Alfredo. There is a free spirit waving through this place which you recognize immediately from all other places like this around the world in remote beaches. Of course it is basic, you got a bed and that´s it. But the location is great, very close to the drop off point and Alfredo is an interesting host. You don´t come to this place for luxury. I´ll always remember a fellow host coming out with a trumpet in the morning and playing a perfect Ravel´s Bolero on a dune in front of the hostel. Libertad o muerte, that captures the spirit of this place. Go and realize your own libertad here.

I only stayed in Cabo Polonio Hostel for one night but this place was so special that I think it deserves a review anyway. It's tiny and cute and very welcoming right in the dunes. It's true that it's basic but that's what Cabo Polonio is all about. The owner is super funny and he can cook!!! 
There's hammocks to spend a lazy afternoon and a great breakfast (included) with nothing disrupting the view of the sea.
The only thing that stopped it from being perfect was the sand which gets everywhere. But I guess that's just what happens if you stay right on the beach.

cute and very unique

Cabo Polonio is a beautiful place, and the hostel has a great location on the beach. However, it only offers very basic accommodation, staff is not the most friendly and  the rooms offer no privacy (no space to put anything away, doors don't close etc.). For the service and amenities offered it was hugely overpriced, there are other places on the cape which offer far better value for the money.
