We booked our bungalow probably 2 days before we arrived on 26 Dec. We loved staying here, it's remote, quiet and very relaxing. The owners are lovely, very helpful and we would definite return. If you are looking for 5* hotel "luxury" then this may not be for you but it's the "real" feeling that makes it wonderful. La Barra can get very hectic and coming from a busy, fast and congested city, it is not what we expect on holiday.

Peace of heaven

I stayed at Victoria Fields  for 3 nights in a twin room and 1 night in a bungalow.  The hotel is set in a lovely, quiet location on a spacious block of land. It is about 5 mins by car to the nearest beach (about 8 mins to Bikini Beach), about 10 mins to La Barra town and 20 mins to Punta del Este town. As such, it's a lovely location if you have your own vehicle, but if you do not, then the cost of a taxi should be priced into your stay as you will definitely need vehicular access to get to anywhere of interest outside the hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay at Victoria Fields, largely because the hosts / owners are so lovely. They are both ex-corporate workers who decided to quit the rat race to spend time with their new family and put their efforts into their own business.  This can be seen in their genuine passion in Victoria Fields and their desire to provide excellent service (e.g. home made freshly baked bread & pastries and pancakes for breakfast and complimentary laundry service). However, their lack of experience in the industry can be seen in the minor details (e.g. the large bathrooms which have little storage space, no soap holder in the showers, loose door handles and screws, chalky floors ...).  It is this lack of attention to detail that I think makes Victoria Fields rather pricey for what you get. Having said that, I have no doubt that, with the passion of the owners, these little things will improve over time. 

The bungalows come with a small kitchen, patio and bbq - great for cooking your own meals. The rooms are spacious but, due to the design of the building (and the extreme winds in La Barra), I was woken up a few times by the howling noise caused by the wind and the draught in the hallway.  As a solo traveller, I probably would not stay here again as there is no entertainment on the property (and most of the customers were young families), however, I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling with family or in a group.

English country manor, Uruguayan hospitality

Victoria Fields is a rare gem.  Stayed there over Uruguayan spring break (for primary schools) with our two kids and had an unbelievable time.  While super close and convenient to all the  PDE, La Barra & Jose Ignacio beaches, restaurants and activities, Victoria Fields offers the best of both worlds -- beach scene fun -- but laid back, tranquil Uruguayan country living.  The cottages are simply amazing and the service is unparalleled.  Owners are onsite, incredibly accommodating and their insider recommendations around beaches, restaurants and activities were spot-on.  Rates are more than reasonable for the service.  Included breakfast was a feast -- try the pancakes -- unbelievable!  We've stayed at other hotels and resorts in and around PDE in the past but Victoria Fields is our favorite.

Incredible & Highly Recommended!  Uruguyan Nature & Hospitality At Its Best!

We just spent one night in this wonderful little bungalow/hotel. The owners were lovely and provided great service. The cabins were a bit cold at night but there is a fireplace and heat that can help. Overall we had a great experience. Very family oriented and relaxing.

We had a wonderfull stay at Victoria Fields!! The best personal service, the best location in Punta. The owner's hospitality is incredible, they made us feel right at home. I recommend it to all.
