Malika Khevaek was the only hotel inside Khiva’s walled city – what a fantastic location! Everything was within a hundred meter reach! Everyone else had to enter the walled city gates every day to see the sites. The hotel operated a covered outdoor restaurant, one of the most picturesque eating places in the walled city. Breakfast food was quite limited. But dinner was very good. It was obviously a family run affair. The small informal lobby led to the courtyard. Around the courtyard were two floors of guest rooms; clearly, this had once been a rich merchant’s villa. The walls are nicely decorated with desert-caravan-bazaar scenes. 

We found it odd that there was no trash can  in the room. The phone didn’t work so my wife had to keep going down to talk to the front desk. The rooms had tea sachets and cups, though we had to ask for a hot water kettle. Breakfast wasn’t impressive at all.

The only hotel inside Khiva’s walled city

Arrived at night and the walk through the old town was amazing.  Basic facilities, but we had a large seating area and a separate bedroom, with a huge bathroom.  Breakfast was typical, but kept coming and coming.  Probably about 16 different dishes.

In the middle of the walled town.

Hotel is just outside the city walls so is in an ideal position to explore old Khiva. Rooms are good with a nice open area in the middle of the hotel which double as a shop displaying a range of vintage carpets. Breakfast was good and service efficient.

Nice hotel, super location.

This hotel is within the ancient city walls of Khiva and location couldn't be better. Others you have to walk into the town  via the gates- here you are right on top of everything yet it's a peaceful quiet haven. All hotels around Khiva are low star ratings so don't expect luxury accomodation, but this hotel  is clean and comfortable and has what you need. We loved staying here because of the feel of the place but especially because of the outside eating area where, aside from tables there are a number of traditional 'sofas' to recline on after walking the streets and where we ended up relaxing with a cold drink and a book at the end of each day prior to showering and changing for dinner (see photos). The breakfasts are typically Uzbekistan plentiful and buffet style, and rather than sitting in the restaurant we took ours outside each day - lovely! Staff are helpful and friendly. There is a safe in reception for valuables and a courtyard off receptoion provides access to the rooms on two floors. We would definitely recommend.

A very basic 2 star hotel in Khiva . There is very little choice in the marvellous town of Khiva but don’t let it put you off. The rooms are very basic but at least air conditioned and or heated . They have a good fast laundry service which is always important when travelling for weeks at a time . The staff are polite and helpful . The hotel offers a good traditional style breakfast but I would recommend all other meals are taken outside .

The staff were a little bit surly but that may have just been a language issue

Breakfast was ok - a selection of breads, hams, cheeses etc, eggs, cakes etc

It has a lovely outdoor restaurant area although when we went they barely had anything available from the menu which was a shame - I'm guessing there may be some logistical challenges getting supplies into khiva as lots of restaurants had the same issue

Overall a good place to stay when in khiva 

Great hotel in the beautiful city of khiva

Perfect location a minute's walk from the city gates. Very quiet even though there were tour groups staying. Basic but comfortable room except the pillows which were like bricks. The central inside "courtyard" is attractive and has comfortable seating for relaxing. Breakfast buffet was not appetising as some food items looked stale as if they had been there for a long time.

Decent accommodation in excellent location

Stayed here for 2 nights and room very comfy although small. Basic facilities in room with a good shower. Reception staff very friendly. The centre of the hotel 'courtyard' has beautiful carpets on display,with lots of handicrafts for sale. 
Buffet breakfast is adequate and restaurant is beautiful with ornate roofing

From the outside, the hotel blends perfectly well with the architecture of the Old City; inside it is somewhat basic but the rooms are clean and breakfast is decent. Staff is friendly and the location is great as it sits right in front of one of the main gates to the old city

Decent place

The Malika Khiva is located just outside the West Gate of Khiva old town. An interesting interior. The staff are friendly and informative. The rooms are clean and well kept. Good views of the old town from rooms on one side of the hotel.
