They wanted to keep our passports until checkout day (we had 2 nights) which seemed a bit weird. Then when we asked to get our passports immediately since we already paid, they refused to hand them over for a while. We had to really insist and almost raise our voice to get our passports back. This wasn't a nice experience... 
Also we heard mice or rats in the ventilation system in the night

Arrogant manager and dirty room, but cheap

Booked and paid for two nights in advance, so couldn't afford to leave. Otherwise I would have after seeing (or smelling) my room. It stunk of cigarette smoke, so did the bed sheets, so did she pillows and so did the towels. 

The bed is uncomfortable, and the bathroom is dingy and filthy. The whole room is filthy to be honest, brown stains on every wall. 

No bathtub as advertised, and the balcony/terrace which is advertised is communal and on every floor overlooking the road. 

DO NOT book a tour for the floating market through this hotel. Mrs Ut, receptionist/staff member spoke to us about the tour, and $20 per person sounded reasonable for a 7-8 hour trip. 

'My sister will meet you at the boat, you will see two markets, other small canals, rice fields, fruit garden, get lunch and return back'

Her sister was no where to be seen, a random man put on his boat and off we went. The floating markets are so disappointing it's untrue. We spent ten minutes at each bobbing around before moving on. Unless you want to buy fruit (which we did but how long do you sit watching others do the same?!). The smaller canals were cool, very peaceful. The fruit garden was just a small garden growing various fruits, that you can't pick. This was followed by lunch. Not only did we pay for our own lunch, we also got asked (forced) to pay for the drivers lunch! 

This was followed by a slow hour long drive back to the dock. Where we half expected to be greeted by a moto taxi driver to take us back, it did not. A 3km walk finished the tour. 

And the driver had the cheek to ask for a tip, your welcome for the noodle soup mate!!

Avoid the tour, book yourself at the dock!!

Horrendous, awful, bad staff, disgusting room. 

Where to start.. I feel I need to review both the hotel but also the day trip the receptionist sold us, because she'll try and sell it to others after us.

Hotel:
Nothing like described unfortunately. Be aware there's no lift so if you're on the third floor like we were, it's a bit of a mission.
The room stunk of smoke, as did the blanket. It wasn't clean, the walls were covered in what can only be described as questionable stains. 
The bathroom was dank and there was no bathtub, as advertised. Also when it says 'balcony' this is just a balcony on each floor, be under no illusion that you get your own. 
I wasn't happy to sleep in the bed for fear the sheets hadn't been changed, but we had no choice, we had paid for two nights and had little other option. The blanket felt like sandpaper. 
There are no positives for this hotel, honestly.
I don't know what people mean by good location, there's a mall opposite a couple restaurants.. You'd be no worse or better off within a 3km radius to be honest. It's 4.5km from the main bus station.

Day trip:
We came to Can Tho on the way to HCM to see the floating markets and explore the Mekong Delta area. So when the receptionist/owner I'm not sure (Ms Ut) started telling us about her day trip for only $20 each, we were interested. She said we'd have transport from the hotel to the dock where her sister would be waiting for us, we'd see the two main markets, explore other canals, see paddy fields, go to a fruit farm and get lunch.

Well. We got transport to the dock yes. Her sister wasn't waiting, some guy picked us up instead and off we went. Saw the two markets.. Neither of which impressed me AT ALL I would say to people not to bother unless you're paying a local MAX $5. There's just a few boats full of the same fruit. You sit there for ten minutes and move on because unless you want to buy, you're just bobbing up and down with some fruit sellers. It's nothing like I thought, but that's an opinion.

Any way on we go, to the fruit farm.. The guy tells us to get out the boat and walk.. Just points in one direction, so we do. There was a paddy field in the distance, nothing like the pictures Ms Ut showed us. Then we come to this fruit farm and have a walk through.. Well it's a garden really with pineapple plants and banana trees. There's a restaurant and we think.. Lunchtime!

We ordered lunch for ourselves and were then told we should pay for our guide's lunch. We reluctantly agreed since it seemed we had no choice. I was more angry that Ms Ut implied we had lunch included.. And to pay for the guide's lunch too it was just cheeky, he even asked the waitress to add a drink onto the tab.. I couldn't believe it?! And it wasn't cheap either and the food wasn't good at all. This is all after $40 I mean it's ridiculous?! 

Got back in the boat to return, and the guy's only nicked our banana chips we bought at the market and is eating them.. Is he for real we just bought him beef soup?!

Got back to the dock and we weren't surprised that no transport was arranged, so we had to walk nearly 3km in the scorching heat back to our hotel. OH and the guy actually asked for a TIP when he dropped us off.

The hotel and today literally made coming to Can Tho a complete waste of money and time.. 

Despicable 

For the price i think it is reasonable conditions.
The only thing that bothered me is the treatment. The people on the reception are rude, not nice at all, and not one of them knows english.
The tour to the floating market that they offer is nice but far away and they don't send a pickup eventhough they say it's included in the price. 
Their phone number is the number of a different place..
If you have other cheap choices dont go there. 

Cheap. 

We booked this hotel through Booking website. When we arrived, on the outside, the hotel was quite big and beautiful hotel. But when we stepped inside, we were disappointed a bit because everything was not as good as it seemed. The receptionist was unfriendly. We stayed on the first floor. Although the price is cheap, only 170,000 VND but the room was shabby. Slightly damp and dark. Wardrobe doors are not closed, bathroom was dirty and its door was rotted. There were broke off hangers and no place to hang clothes. What is more terrible were mosquitoes in our room. When sitting at the lobby near the front desk, mosquitoes were buzzing around us. It felt like the whole year they have no mosquito spray once. That was a nightmare. We tried to sleep one night and will certainly never return if they do not repair and upgrade their services, as well as retraining of professional conduct and client care for their employees. However, location is good, just opposite the shopping mall and near the city center

We booked in this hotel coz we based on trip adviser that it was near the bus station...but when we arrived , we had to take a taxi coz it was 4km away. Bus near this hotel had closed.  Then we where meet by the unsmiling receptionist. We had to do some sign language to be understood. We stayed on the third flour. Bedroom was dark, wardrobe door could not be shut, bed was uncomfortable and bathroom was dirty, basin's water flows directly to the floor. So yucky.....so the following day we had to move out....it was far from where the action is. Don't stay in this hotel
