The bathroom was fatally wet and full of bugs, and the worst part was that our room was next to the bathroom, and when we opened the door, the smell went all the way in, and the bed was a table, horrible stuff, and we didn't stay here, not even for the price.

Horrible 

The worst room I've ever been in my whole life, the worst bed, without a ghost, with bugs, noises, no sleep, poor service. Don't make the mistake of coming here.

City view = corridor "view" into room beside us and roofs.
Walked up 4 stories of dodgy stairs to our room. TV behind the bed, terrible lay out, see photos.

20,000 extra to keep our bike safe from 12am. Their location was good being central, but bad for parking. No where else we have had to pay. They just tell us they will bring in at night, no extra cost. 

Place was v dusty and u could feel every spring in the bed. Happy with free breakfast. Staff v blunt and no smiles. Could do with a major make over. 

Nothing like advertised 

I would recommend this hostel just because of location.
Room was pretty stinky,powdery almost everywhere,wifi doesn’t working and stuff turns off our ac every time they think we’ve had enough haha 
But on the street you can find tasty bahn mi or rooftop bar so if you’re traveling low cost and you don’t have a choice this place is for you.


Not so good 

Nice location but there are a lot of others in the area. The staff was seemingly friendly but they were scoping me out. Took advantage of their only window of opportunity to pilfer $180 out of my backpack. They must have been watching me closely because the money was in a pouch concealed in one of the many zippered compartments that are in the pack.

It is located right in mid of main old market area in Hanoi. I booked the dorm which was not very neat. Bathroom was also nothing to appreciate. But not a bad place to pass a night if you are on budget and don't crave much cleanliness. Also it's not like you will not get better places to stay at the same price.

Nice Location but bad amenities 

Don't do business with them, they are sloppy and don't take responsibility.

I booked a tour through Homepackpacker to Ha Giang to be the last leg of my otherwise great stay in Vietnam! This tour was only organised every Friday to Sunday, the agencies I had visited seemed to propose the same. I needed the tour to be from the 28 until the 30th as my flight home is on the 1/5 early morning. 

I booked through employee L who wrote on the receipt that the tour left at 6:30 on the 28 and would be back early evening of the 30th, that's it. He didn't check anything at the time of booking.

On April 24th I received an email from L explaining that the tour can't happen on those dates because of a "bus problem". He proposed alternative dates and stays but they all either came back too late for my flight home, cost more or were to a different destination. 

As they couldn't deliver what I purchased and alternatives didn't work, the simplest solution seemed to be cancel and refund. It is it's the tour operator's responsibility to ensure what they sell can happen. They wouldn't agree to that by email so I decided to stop by Hanoi on 27/4 to go to the agency to get my money back. 
When I arrived L didn't want to refund in full and couldn't help "yet". He had me come back to the agency 4 times that afternoon, claiming all sorts of reasons from he had to call his tour operator to the boss was out and he doesn't have the money...
I ended up by having him write down on the receipt that I would get a full refund at 7:00 pm. 
At 7 pm Luc was gone and I was left with what seemed to be the two bosses/owners which can't speak a word of English. They started typing a partial amount in the calculator which I refused, I tried using google translate to explain it was their responsibility to check a tour happens before selling it to clients.  
After probably 45 minutes of postering, explaining I would go to the police, them showing signs of aggression and refusing responsibility I suggested a higher but still partial refund and they agreed. The actual exchange between the money and the receipt was very aggressive, at one point the owner grabbing my hands, threatening that everything had been recorded on video. 

Though I recognise that I had no flexibility with the dates and that this weekend was a public holiday in Vietnam, it is the agency's responsibility to ensure the tours they sell are actually organised. I'll also never know if L was telling the full story to his bosses, as he was the one who should have done the initial checks. 
Anyway, not getting a full refund doesn't make sense as I was in no way responsible. Them blocking my hands to ensure I don't run out of the store was also unacceptable.
By the time this got sorted, it was too late to find another trip to Ha Giang, which was to be the highlight of my trip...

Such practices bring down the image of Vietnam tourism so these type of behaviours must be reported and publicised so that hopefully travellers and agents make sure it doesn't happen again. 

Therefore fellow travels, please avoid this place or at least be extremely cautious.

Tour to Ha Giang - Avoid this place

We arrived at 8:30, he told us he'd have a room available at 10:00 and he asked us for our passports to book, and we came back at 10:00, and he told us he didn't have a room, that it was full... not reliable at all!

What to Avoid

Hotel to really avoid, we wanted a modest room for a price of 15 dollars, we had a room that was worth only 5 dollars. Dirty and smelly litter, we had to ask 4 times for it to be changed, window that doesn't close, window door overlooking the stairs not at all insulating, we can even hear the host guy snoring and all the other passing customers! The next day we ask the host girl to make us the room at 10 dollars to compensate for a very restless night and the answer was negative.. we have been traveling for 7 months and this is the first time we are faced with a staff who does not make any effort to destroy us. They are sorry. This establishment is completely unworthy of existence, it is a shame for Hanoi.
