I dont know so many people complained this hostel, but everything look very good, very cheap hostel, located in the city center few minutes walk to Hoan Kiem lake, 30 seconds to the Church.
Of course facilities quite old, but the price very cheap and staff very friendly. if you complain, please look others hotel, you have to pay much more expensive to get a better room.
You want to save money, and comfortable, and close to walking street, let visit green hostel,

Good hostel

We got in at 6am from an overnight bus, and went to drop our bags off/see if a room was available. When we got there staff was sleeping in the lobby and when we knocked he looked at us, rolled over and went back to sleep. I get it's 6am so we sort of brushed it off. We went to find coffee and came back. The entire place was grossly dirty and reeked of smoke. The staff was super rude to us, told us check-in was at 2 and then made us crawl around his bed still on the floor to drop our bags off. We were very uninterested in staying there at this point, so we decided to call it quits and book another room. We stay in budget rooms all the time, and for the price/location you can find way way better in the area.

Horrible, Should Have Read the Reviews

The room was not great and bathroom was a bit dirty. But especially our fellow dorm guests, who seemed to live there semi permanently, were quite special. The room smelled quite exotic (I mean we're from holland but we don't want to smell the grass everywhere..) The laundry that we had done came back nicely folded but smelling just the same with some extra spots of orange on it. Just go to another one, there are many hostels for around this price :)

7 hostels later I chose Green for 3 months. Why? The 5C's
CHEAP-2nd on search.
CLEAN-dorm cleaned sometimes twice daily.
CONVENIENT-tours, transfers and etc.
COMFORT-my Hanoi home.
CONNECTION-on-point.

My home away from home...

My bad experience is due to the man at the desk. I lost the room key and even though they didn't ask for a room key deposit like many places ask for, He demanded i pay 200K Dong for the key, even though it's the most basic key you can imagine. After arguing with him and saying i will write a bad review, the man said "All of you westerners are the same, you have no respect and you think bad reviews are worth something".
Apparently I had enough respect for him to take my money. worst place ever.

What advertised on the sign is not true. Especially the prices. Double check if you do go. No A/C but they don't tell you that.
