A pleasant stay, and no major complaints. Reasonably good value for money, the place was clean and efficiently run, and the breakfast was good. We would consider staying here again if we return to Hue.

Relaxing respite well in excess of expectations

We landed in Hanoi and hailed a taxi to the Hanoi old quarter hotel and after agreeing a $20 fee we proceeded to Hanoi. Along the way the driver passed me the phone and I was greeted by someone who said that the driver had very bad English and where were we going! We pulled up to our destination and a man came to the taxi  and asked had we a reservation but we didn't so be said it was full but our sister hotel had rooms.
We proceeded to theis hotel and were shown rooms that were not bad and priced for $30 per night. We had been travelling a long time and agreed to stay.
This is where the place falls down. The manager is very pushy and the tour operator will not take no for an answer to book your tours through him. We had planned a tour to halong bay and several times he called to outlet room with prices and putting us under pressure to go the next day as a storm was coming. We eventually booked but when we got on the trip we quickly realised that we had way over paid for outlet trip but that seems standard here. 
There is much better value to be had in Hanoi for hotels and I would avoid this hotel. Also watch out for taxi drivers and do not believe that anywhere is full unless you here it directly from the hotel itself!!!!

Scammed from airport!

We ended up at this hotel by pure chance, no regrets. The most hospitable helpful, polite and frank people Ive met in Vietnam. Thank u Kenny and Bing. I recommend this clean well positionf and very affordable accomodation.

Amazingly hospitable

We were mobbed coming out of Hanoi airport and got the old taxi-scam "sorry the water is broken in your bathroom, you will have to stay at our sister hotel: tulip flower". Thankfully, we had already paid for our real accommodation and had a confirmation receipt so did not have to pay for  our accomm at Tulip Flower. We did however, agree to booking our Halong bay tour and train tickets to Hue and Danang and ended up booking another night at Tulip after our tour. Only once aboard the Halong bay tour boat did we discover we had paid twice the price! And each train ticket we bought (there are three of us travelling together) had been tripled. 
The hotel is also quite a walk from the old quarter which was a bit of a hassle. 
Having said this, the hotel room itself was fairly spacious and price included  breakfast and some of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Taxi-scammers and ridiculously over-priced tours and tickets

The reception clerks are nice and willing to help. 

But the manager is pushy and he scammed us, after we came to Hanoi after a devasting long flight. We were scammed by the taximob on Ha Noi airport and this manager who told that he was the electricity was broken. Because we wanted a shower and a bed we decided to take a room. 

The location is out of the tourist center. It's a 15 minute walk, so it was not that bad.
The rooms were clean and ok, but because of construction work in a building next to the hotel the mornings were very noisy.
