Very good position , well managed and satisfatory level of cleanliness! A basic hotel with high level of attention to the guest! Large rooms and bathroom equipped with all basicly equipment for a medium range stay!

A good example!!

Good Location. Cheap place. Crap WiFi. Expect language barrier. The bed also is not that clean. I found multiple hair on it. Also, the bathroom is so dirty. Elevator is scary and a bit old. Staff is friendly.

Good Location

Thinh Vuong Hotel is a good option for backpackers or budget travelers wanting simple accommodation.

Superbly located in District 1, it's a short 10 minute walk from Ben Thanh Market, and less than 15 mins from Saigon Skydeck. If you don't mind waking a bit farther like me and my partner, Independence Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral are only approx. 25 mins way by foot.

The breakfast provided was very simple, eggs, bread, spreads and coffee, but it is a nice and easy little start to the day.

The staff were all friendly, however, we did have a bit of trouble communicating in English. Despite that, everything went smoothly.

The room wasn't huge, but big enough for our needs. Annoyingly the two power outlets either side of the bed did not work. One just didn't work, and the other was broken and looked potentially unsafe. Thankfully there was a spare outlet next to the TV and mini fridge.

The bed was extremely firm by my standards. Even though it was not my idea of a comfy bed, I did sleep very well and the mattress was good for what it was.

There was an air-conditioner and a fan which worked very well. The air-conditioning was a bit noisy when trying to sleep, but it's better than being too hot.

The bathroom was probably the worst part of the room. It was rather dimly lit and the door stuck slightly when fully closed. The water on the shower was fiddly. Initially the water was cool, but after a couple of minutes got very hot and needed a bit of practice and luck to find the sweet spot on the tap. There was no shower curtain on the rails, just an old tattered looking broken one thrown over the railing only to get in your way. Also being quite tall (190cm) the shower head didn't quite have the reach to shower comfortably.

All in all, this hotel is good enough for a no frills budget stay. It may be a bit untidy around the edges and appear a bit dated, but for a short stay of a few nights it's well located and hard to complain considering the value.

Good option for no frills traveler

If you're a backpacker or a budget traveller and are used to cheap rooms that exude a certain 'rough around the edges' vibe, you probably won't mind your time at Thinh Vuong. Although the place is undeniably dated, it seemed clean and was equipped with a reasonably good fan and air conditioning unit - the latter did rattle a little. Our shower was also a tad problematic, as it proved difficult to strike a balance between freezing cold and piping hot water, and anything above an average water pressure resulted in the shower head tipping to the side and soaking the neighbouring wall. That being said, the room is very centrally located and did a good job of shutting out the incessant bustle of Ho Chi Minh city. Ultimately, therefore, as little more than a place to sleep and shower, it served our purposes just fine. Breakfast is incredibly basic (eggs, bread with spreads, and coffee), but as backpackers who are used to the minimum, we made do and were happy to start our day with some easy food. The English of the staff varies, but they were friendly and helpful, which is really what counts! From the airport we took the 109 bus and hopped off at the last stop, 23/9 Park, before walking about 10 minutes to the hotel. 

Nice and Simple

We booked a family room for 4. Decent value for money but when compared to other accommodation elsewhere in Vietnam, i is maybe the poorest service and value we got during our trip. Only one employee speaks little english. Room was not very clean...some footprints on the walls, old biscuits in a drawer, some towels torn. AC device a bit noisy but we slept well !
Breakfast is included but really basic. None ask for the beverage we want to have... Good and central location but certainly better option in Saigon at similar price.

Good location but  basic service.

My family booked 1 room for 2 adults, 3 children on last weekend.
Prolems from old elevator. They was falling from 7th floors to 4th floors. The old woman, look like house keeping don't help or keep calm the children,them n just yell " Are you from country side? Don't know how to use elevator?"
They was changed room but water from air conditioner drop too much at 2nd night. In the morning, my sister told with young female receptionist, she said " When its happened, why not complain, now you said that, I will be yell by my aunt (maybe she is niece of the owner)." 
My family booked, 450.000 VND for 1 night.
When they pay money, she said 500.000 VND for 1 night. After show the proof, she angry and not polite. They saw expats was served breakfast, They didn't have but it is ok, don't care too much.
They was treated like this cause they are Vietnamese?
 First time, never back.
This is my family's experience. Maybe you will better. Good luck.

The attitude of young female receptionist so terrible, old convenient....

The hotel is pretty dated & not much to look at but as backpackers we weren't looking for anything fancy & stayed for 3 nights.

The location was great, a 5 minute walk from all the restaurants & bars. 

The staff were friendly & helpful but when we used their laundry service they got some of our stuff mixed up with another guests. Fortunately we could tell some of our stuff was missing as soon as they handed us the bags.

There was mould all over the bathroom & a really loud fire alarm that kept going off in the hallway. Also, half of our window was boarded up so we couldn't even see out of it. It was fine for our short stay but don't stay here if you're looking for luxury!
