We arrived to find a really helpful porter, who lead us down a quiet alleyway to a smart historic town house where we were greeted on the doorstep by the proprietor. The rooms were clean, cool and comfortable and we had a lovely breakfast. Exceptional place with personal charm. Helpful and welcoming people - would highly recommend.

Personal charm and fantastic service

I just returned from another fantastic stay at Ma Maison. The hosts have welcomed me back for 4 different visits, and I truly feel at home there while I am working in the city for a week at a time. This is not the same experience as staying in a large, impersonal hotel in District 1-- at Ma Maison, you have the opportunity to feel a part of the neighborhood, to appreciate "real life," and make connections with the fantastic history of the building and the hosts' families. You will have a peaceful, welcoming, and comfortable room and will be treated to a delicious breakfast every morning. Taxis and the Grab car service are easily accessed-- you can explore the increasingly-busy city and return to  a tranquil and tidy home away from home.

A gem in a busy city

Over time hotels change and usually for the worst. Not Ma Maison, which is still a perfect example of loving owners who enjoy what they do. We stayed here over 7 years ago and it has not changed, everything was still amazingly fresh and vibrant. Mr Ha is a fantastic host who will do anything to make your time in HCMC that little bit easier. Yes it’s in District 3 and don’t let that put you off as there is so much to explore in this area. Buses easy to catch in & out of District 1 pus Grab is an say option too. If you walk through the park to the other side, explore this area for awesome restaurants & bars.

Marvellous in every way 

Surprising boutique in HCM. I say surprising because before I got here I wasn’t that impressed with the location or pictures but it was wonderful. Right next to a park with plenty to explore it gets you away from the touristy ness of area 1. The staff is really what sells it with the owner and his wife being true delights. Do NOT SKIP the breakfast pho. It’s the wife’s family recipe and it is the best pho my husband and I have ever had. Would definitely stay here again. 

The best spot in HCM 

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was very tastefully furnished and very clean. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was very lovingly prepared and of high quality. The hotel is located in a very quiet street, which is in Ho Chi Minh City, worth gold. I would always choose the hotel again. Thank you very much for the good time.

Stayed 2 nights in this beautiful hotel. Hosts are wonderful and go out of their way to help in all ways they can to make the stay amazing. 
Breakfasts are home cooked and superb. Recommend the chicken Pho. 
Our room was at the top ( 4 floors no lift so only suitable if you are fit) but was bright, clean homely and very charming.

Fantastic Oasis 

Ma Maison is an absolute jewel. In District 3, you’re with the locals taking up the real Ho Chi Minh experience, within a quick £5 cab ride into the heart of the city. You can pay more than triple and stay one of the big Western hotel chains, but here you’ll find a lovely family run business by the man who was the GM at The Rex for 30 years. 

This is a spotless and beautifully maintained French colonial home. The rooms are spacious with beautiful tile floors. Coffee, tea and passion fruit juice always available and a lovely courtyard for your breakfast. 

The neighbourhood is local. And the hotel is tucked away down a few alleys, so cabs can’t get through. Let them arrange your transport, including from airport, and Khan will be there to help with luggage and lead the way.

Be sure to explore the canal and have your £1 beers. Make sure you do moped tours, only way to get around, street food tour a must.

A gem in  with the locals

Pro’s - was only in HCMC for less than 12 hrs. the owners did a lovely job welcoming me & ensuring I got to the airport by 6am the next morning. They also packed a nice breakfast for the airport. 
Con’s - a travel agent booked this & would have preferred a more central hotel to be able to sightsee during the limited time I had. Please note the district as there’s very little to walk to. I landed at 5pm, it was challenging to get a taxi to a more central section of the city. Very, very hectic. I had stayed the previous weekend in HCMC & there were better options for me. The room did not have the ability to make coffee or have anything in the mini frig, such as a beer to enjoy in my room. Normal basics for a hotel. Also, the room was very, very small. I’m a single traveler & it was fine but seriously small. 

Hotel wasn’t for me

Really enjoyed my stay here. The place is secure and very clean. I enjoyed the design of the building. Breakfast was included and I was totally satisfied with what was on the menu. The staff were superb and went the extra mile to make everything effortless. 
The only slight negative things I would say is the location is a little difficult to find for taxi drivers. Also stepping out of the alley onto the road is a hair raising experience during peak hour traffic. 
There is a theme park close by for people with children to visit. The owners speak good English as well. My photos consist of the the foyer area and breakfast area. Also photos of the light breakfast. The second to last photo is a picture of the alley you need to look for returning from an outing. The last photo is the alley that takes you to the location 

Hidden gem

We stay here every time we are in Ho Chi Minh City. This place feels like home, with the most genuinely caring and kind owners and staff you will ever meet. But it also feels like a luxury hotel with impeccable service, beautiful pristinely clean rooms, and exquisite food. Breakfast of pho, fruit, juice and coffee in their charming courtyard is an experience I dream of when back at home! The pho is the owner's father's recipe and is one of the best we have ever tasted. There are also Western options. The hotel is conveniently located but also not right in the touristy center, so it's easy to feel a more local and calm experience. Staff can always catch you a cab at a very low rate and provide helpful directions to the driver and it's easy to get everywhere. Management and staff always go above and beyond to ensure a wonderful stay. This time, they even found someone to sew my husband's broken backpack with a turnaround of just a few hours and at no charge so we could bring it to our day trip the following morning. We have stayed at famous luxury hotels that have not provided the degree and quality of care that this hotel demonstrates. Can't say enough good things about this place-- it's a rare gem and there is nowhere better to stay on your visit to Saigon! Very reasonable prices too.
